Spadafora wins, Calzaghe to fight Manfredo Jr.

In his first fight since being released from prison, "The Pittsburgh Kid" Paul Spadafora scored a 5th round TKO win over Frankie Zepeda at the Avalon Hotel in Erie, Pennsylvania. Spadafora busted Zepeda open in the first round, and the fight was stopped after a doctor checked Zepeda's bleeding just before Spadafora caught him with a right to the jaw. The referee stepped in to stop the fight at that point. Spadafora improves his career mark to 39-0-1.

Joe Calzaghe will defend the IBF and WBO super middleweight titles on March 3 against "Contender" first season runner-up Peter Manfredo, Jr.

Calzaghe, boxing's longest-reigning champion, has a 42-0 career record. Manfredo is 26-3, and has won two straight since dropping two fights to Sergio Mora in 2005. His wins over Scott Pemberton and Joe Spina were both third round TKOs.

The fight will take place on March 3 in Cardiff, Wales, at Millennium Stadium.

What a bummer about Calzaghe
This fight is a joke. But I guess that's one way to introduce yourself to American fans. I sure hope Calzaghe does something better with those belts--and soon.
