Ray Austin vs. Sultan Ibragimov: Another HW Draw

In a somewhat disappointing fight for Ibragimov, he and Austin fought to a draw tonight on Friday Night Fights. Ibragimov came on strong early, scoring a wicked knockdown of Austin. However he wasn't able to keep it up, and Austin faired better in the later rounds, often seeming the one in control.

I scored it 114-112 for Sultan, so a draw doesn't seem unreasonable in my book. Nevertheless, the result will be disappointing for those looking for clarity among the heavies.

In the end, the fight dishes up a favor for Wlad, who won't be pressed to fight either fighter any time soon. Likely these two will fight a rematch before that, allowing Wlad to either bide his time or pick another opponent. I want to see him fight Valuev, but he has a knee injury that will prevent him from fighting again this year. It probably wouldn't have happened anyway, since Don King will likely protect Valuev's record until he can create a buzz for him in the States and set up a big bucks fight down the line.
