Carl Froch

Im going to this one. Not heard much about the Canadian had a look at his record and he looks not too bad. Im glad Froch has secured a shot at the WBC trinket after being ignored by Calzaghe, its been hard matching up Carl, He is not big a draw but i think he is quite a decent boxer. Holds his hands low and relies on reflexes. Good to see this on mainstream tv.

How do you rate his chances against Pascal?

I'm not a big fan of Pascal

and I think Froch will win simply because he’s less tentative and is a better boxer, but I’m not sure how well Froch will hold up long-term. My impression is that he’s way way WAY too slow for someone who does sometimes try to rely on his reflexes, and he’ll need to be tighter with his guard to be successful against top-level competition. For instance, having seen Inkin a couple times now, I’m convinced that Froch would have only had a puncher’s chance against Inkin had that match come off. However, Pascal thinks he’s a lot better than he is and leaves himself too wide open to get countered. He actually reminds me a bit of another Montreal native, Joachim Alcine.

Vogt early, Vogt often.

"Pascal thinks he’s a lot better than he is"

This is my one big complaint about him. If he accepted the idea that he has limitations he’d be a hell of a fighter. He’s athletic, has quick hands, moves around well, but he thinks he’s fuckin’ prime Roy Jones with Bernard Hopkins’ chin.
