picks!
Oscar TKO-10
Lopez KO-4 (it could be earlier than this, but I really hate saying any fighter will go down before three rounds of action are done)
Ortiz TKO-5
Jacobs KO-1 (this one is obvious)

picks and question
Oscar KO 4
Lopez KO 2
don’t enough about the others, hope South Texas Lares pulls off a miracle
What is the reach difference between Oscar and Manny?
reach
It’s six inches (73" to 67") by the antiquated way of measuring reach that I think is pretty dopey to use at this point. I don’t know shoulder to fingertip numbers.
"Yesterday I was lying, today I am telling the truth." -- Bob Arum
Jacobs with the rabbit ears is awesome
BTW, is it my imagination, or does he look kinda like a gigantic version of Joan Guzman?
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Not sure if you're aware
But I read the Ortiz fight is second to last the Juanma is the second fight of the show.

I know
But only in Oscar’s world is Ortiz more important than Lopez if you ask me. F their lineup, Juanma is the star of the undercard.
The Ortiz-Resto fight is for an NABO title or some bullshit, too, so it’s scheduled for 12.
"Yesterday I was lying, today I am telling the truth." -- Bob Arum
well for sure. God forbids Juanma steals the show seconds before the supposed Dream Match. He needs something to smooth it out. Then he’ll be ok. Or not! — Pacman 10th Round KO

Froch starting to take over
Pascal looks like he’s out of gas, keeping his hands down…
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Both guys legitimately think they won
Bunce has Froch by 4. I thought he won 3 of the 4 rounds I saw. Looks like a great fight tough based on what I saw. I’ll have to find a link of the full fight…
Vogt early, Vogt often.
ok fuck off Fraudley

I'm not sure
But did anyone catch George Lopez yesterday with the weigh in? He stated:
the fight was sold out and all that was left was the telecast. You know what that means… it means that’s for poor people whom could not pay for the fight
The funny remark behind it is that the seats for the telecast is between 80 and 100 bucks. But apperantly it is only for poor people.

Jacobs-Lares R1
There’s almost no one in the arena right now. Seems empty even for the early card.
I guess Manny IS there. Fine by me.
First minute is a feeling-out process with Jacobs jabbing. HARD body shot from Jacobs, then backs Lares down with a right. The slaughter may be on. Lares is running all over the ring to stay away from Jacobs, but not really succeeding. Lares trips up on a left, scatters the ropes, and Jacobs is pouncing. 23-3 in punches landed so far. Another body shot landed. Hey, Lares makes it through the round.
Jacobs 10-9, and frankly could be 10-8

Jacobs-Lares R2
Lares is trying to work a little. Jacobs with another body shot. Right hand from Jacobs after some shots from Lares. Jacobs audibly clears his throat.
Not really the most exciting performance from Jacobs, but here he goes in the final minute. He’s landing some beautiful body stuff, and now he’s pounding away and Lares takes a knee. Up at 8, and he’ll fight on — nah, they’re waving it off. Eh, fine.

Lopez-Medina R1
Lopez unloading with body shots at the ropes, and down goes Sergio Medina. He’s done, too. He just laid on the ropes and took shots.
He’s up. He might as well not be. Down again. There’s still been no shot. Medina is in the tank. Fuck this fight.
Down again after some more flurries. And it’s over. All props to Lopez, but that’s enough Sergio Medina. That was a joke.

Ortiz-Resto R1
Dueling southpaws.
Stiff jab from Ortiz. Ortiz digs to the body. Uppercut misses, long left doesn’t. Ortiz with a HUGE straight left hand, and down goes Resto. That was nasty.
And he’s on the hunt again. LEFT HAND DOWN GOES RESTO! This is ugly. He’s just not good.
Resto tries to esecape the ropes, and he’s getting pummeled. Body shot when Resto gets the hell away. Resto has switched to righty. Resto lands two punches, yay!
Looks like Resto will make it out of the round, not that it matters much.
Ortiz 10-7

Lampley
I love Lampley (except when he UFC bashes), but I think I’ve seen enough of his face to last a lifetime.
Apparently, the Pac-Man camp thinks the scale was rigged for the weigh-in. They weighed Manny in at 145.5 on their personal scale that was reset at 0. But the official scale had him at 142. It had Oscar at 145. A 3½ pound difference is huge if the scale was rigged considering Oscar would owe money to Manny. So this will be interesting if it is indeed found out that the scale was rigged. Knowing the way Oscar markets fights, I wouldn’t doubt if they rigged the damn thing.

Oscar-Manny R1
Oscar throws a long right that is short, and Pacquiao paws with the jab. Pacquiao with a left to the body, maybe a little short on that. The height difference is VERY obvious.
Pacquiao with a left, crowd explodes. Right hook lands. Manny is moving in and out. Left to the gloves. Oscar with a right to the body, and he swings a hook to the body that misses. Manny dancing and keeping distance. Oscar isn’t jabbing at all, and he’s not really chasing. Manny swings a big left that misses. Jab from Oscar. Left from Manny. Jab blocked, left to the body lands for Manny. Pacquiao is fighting smart, and here comes Oscar! Oscar drills him with a left hook to the body. I think Manny looks REALLY concerned about Oscar’s power.
Nice left from Manny, then he avoids the Oscar comeback flurry. Manny is popping him with a left between the gloves. Pacquiao’s speed is a real advantage. De la Hoya left hook, Pacquiao gets away after. This is interesting.
Pacquiao 10-9
"Yesterday I was lying, today I am telling the truth." -- Bob Arum
Oscar-Manny R2
Pacquiao sees some Oscar shots coming, hits the ropes, throws his way out. BIG shot from Pacquiao! God is he fast. De la Hoya with a right. Left from Manny. I’m not gonna lie, this is awesome. I have no idea what will happen at any moment. I’m totally on the edge of my seat.
Oscar blocks three shots. Oscar goes to the body with a right, misses a follow-up left. Left from Manny again. That lead left has done wonders thus far. Big body shots from Manny, Oscar fires back in kind! Manny hits him upstairs again. Left to the body from Manny! Oscar felt that one. Oscar’s head movement is non-existant. Uppercut lands! And another shot lands! Manny is out-quicking him and badly.
Jab lands for Manny, and a stiff one. He keeps beating Oscar to the punch, and he’s frustrating him. Oscar has no answers right now. He’s going to need some power shots, and he NEEDS to find a jab.
Pacquiao 10-9
Pacquiao 20-18

Oscar-Manny R3
Long right from Manny. Oscar is failing to find Manny at all. He’s landed 6 of 56 jabs, according to Lampley.
Pop with the left again. Manny takes a hard jab, walked right into it. Manny looks stronger as well as faster. Oscar with a great left hook to the body, and Pacquiao gets the hell off the ropes. HUGE shot from Manny! Oscar may soon develop a cut outside his left eye.
Oscar jabbing more, landing a bit. He’s slowing Manny down a bit. Right to the body by Oscar. Right hook to the body, one upstairs from Manny. He’s moving so, so well. Left from Manny. Nice shot from Oscar down the middle. Pacquiao picks off three shots. They end punching wild.
Closer round, but still Manny’s.
Pacquiao 10-9
Pacquiao 30-27

Oscar-Manny R4
Right from Oscar at the same time as a left from Manny. Big left from Manny! Another little straight left gets through. Right from Oscar. Manny does seem to feel the shots almost every time he’s hit.
Nice combo from Manny, and another! He’s in, he’s out, Oscar doesn’t know what hit him. Uppercut lands. Two more shots thrown! Manny’s dynamic offensive ability is making Oscar look very old right now. Pacquiao blocks a right. Oscar pawing with the jab, no snap on it.
Body shot from Pacquiao. Shots, even. Pacquiao turning Oscar all over the ring again. This is fantastic stuff from Pacquiao. Left hand comes in. He’s really beating the hell out of Oscar right now. This is…man. Larry Merchant just said, “This is getting embarrassing.”
Wow.

Oscar-Manny R5
I think Oscar has to force a brawl at this point. He can’t keep up with Manny at all.
Left hook, right jab stings Oscar, and then Manny gets away with a borderline low shot. And he drills Oscar again. Over and over. He’s kicking Oscar’s ass. He’s REALLY opening it up now. Oscar isn’t blocking anything, isn’t dodging anything, isn’t landing anything. Manny is embarrassing him.
Four shots land. Three more. Two more. And another. This is a slaughter at the moment.
Big right from Oscar, one to the body and one to the head. Oscar gets mad and lands the left hooks! Manny says bring it on. Oscar charges, and now he’s forcing some fighting. Pacquiao stings him back down the stretch. Good round.
Pacquiao 10-9, closest round

Oscar-Manny R6
Oscar keeps flicking a pointless jab around. It’s not meant to land or do anything, just to deter. He’s going to have to rip into him.
Pacquiao firing away, Oscar swipes at him on the way out. Pacquiao firing, and they trade a bit! Here they go! Pacquiao digging away, Oscar digging back! 1-2-3 from Manny. Two pot shots from Pacquiao. Straight left from Pacquiao lands yet again.
Pacquiao is beating Oscar around again in the final minute, with Oscar unable to pull the trigger. Period. Oscar eats more shots near the bell, and another round in the bank for Manny Pacquiao.
Pacquiao 10-9
Pacquiao 60-54

ANY fighter of the year debate
Oscar-Manny R7
Oscar sits until the final moment, every round.
Oscar misses a big, slow left hook. Manny just ducked under it and walked away. Pacquiao is popping away. Oscar is getting peppered, wailed on, whatever you want to call it. He’s doinig nothing. Manny puts him in the corner and beats on him. Manny even almost lets Oscar come out if he wants to — he’s not moving.
Manny is ON FIRE! He is BEATING THE SHIT out of Oscar de la Hoya! KILLING him in there! If this was any other fight, someone might step in. I mean it. This is no longer a fight. It’s Manny Pacquiao assaulting him.
Oscar’s legs are going, he is not throwing AT ALL.
He’s done. He’s DONE.
42-4 this round for Manny. This is pathetic. Oscar looks terrible. Oscar fires! And then stops.
Jesus Christ that was so one-sided. All he DIDN’T do was knock him down.
Pacquiao 10-8
Pacquiao 70-62

I'm trying to think of positives for De La Hoya.
At least Pacman doesn’t have pink hair?
Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.
Oscar-Manny R8
Lampley: “David Diaz was closer to being in the fight than Oscar de la Hoya is.”
Oscar heads back to the ropes so he can be battered further. This is obviously a man in need of retirement right now. He’s getting smoked.
To the ropes a little over a minute in, Manny flurries a bit. It almost looks like Manny is trying to carry Oscar through this fight. Body shots from Manny. More destruction with Oscar near the ropes. Manny: “Oscar has no defense at all. He doesn’t know what to do.”
More shots from Manny near the ropes, then he walks Oscar back to the middle of the ring. Oscar fires a bit, but then gives up on it. Another body shot, and more huge shots on the ropes from Manny! Six or seven BIG WILD shots.
Pacquiao 10-9
Pacquiao 80-71

Manny is moving down to 140 after this match.
I picked Pacquaio to win but not by TKO. WOW! So much for that height advantage and being the more natural welterweight. Happy and sad at the same time. I didn’t think that was possible.
Roach
Roach put $5000 on Manny by KO….Apparently only the fourth time he’s bet on his own guy

I couldn’t get the fight on PPV (kinda glad I didn’t now given the undercard) so was following here. Great round by round coverage yet again.

oh it's possible
If Top Rank brings the money, it’s very possible. In fact, if Pacquiao beats Hatton (and if they fight, he will), I fully expect Pacquiao-Mayweather in late 2009.

what a onesided fight... just for money?...
it seems that the words of valero got even… oscar did not reallly prepare so much for the fight… during their sparring valero felt that he will gonna give in …he even sported a black eye after the practice…what matters most is getting much for his country if he will donate most of his purse to the poor mexicans trying their luck in the uncle sam’s big apple counties? …
Thanks
At work, unable to get PPV … great coverage folks. Would be disappointed had I paid to watch fight tonight based on your coverage.
total quit job
This is a fighter of mexican heritage? What a total quit job. DL completely gave up, fans got screwed on this one. “My heart still wants to fight”. Oscar does not want to fight. Bullshit. This fight was a travesty. Oscar should be ashamed. He didn’t get beat, he gave up like a pure chump. Go down swinging.

Thanks for the great coverage. I’m on short term disability from work and could not afford the PPV. Thanks.
