Meet Gary Lockett
Most everyone is assuming that Kelly Pavlik will wipe out Gary Lockett. Most everyone is almost certainly right -- Pavlik is probably going to destroy this guy.
But what do most of us really know about Gary Lockett? Is he a nice guy? Is he going to bring some action?
Answers are probably "yes" on both fronts.
Here's an interview with Lockett, via FrankWarren.tv:
Seems a nice sort, motivated and really happy that he's getting this chance. I still think Pavlik eats his lunch in five rounds or so and knocks him out flat, but it's not like I begrudge Gary Lockett his success or opportunity. He didn't make himself a ridiculous mandatory.

yeah that's Joe's dad
Enzo’s got a nice little stable of fighters. Lockett has sparred with Joe and Enzo Maccarinelli plenty.

It’s nothing to knock on wood yet or extremely solid, but Evangelista Cotto, he’s got some pretty good fighters too. I mean you won’t hear of them for a bit because most of the are like on a 10 or below fight basis, but they’re pretty good. Not sure if you heard. I like that notion. No disrespect to known trainers today, but those at the bottom of the food chain (terrible sugestion I know) tend to be more relax with their fighters.

I’ve heard Evangelista is building up a nice network. Guys like that will eventually BE the name trainers. Manny Steward can’t go on forever (and I like Manny, but his best days are behind him), and the big two Mayweathers are pretty exclusive, and Freddie Roach is pretty expensive.
The trainer that amazes me is Jack Loew. Who the fuck is this guy besides the trainer of the best middleweight in the world? And currently the bane of Enzo Calzaghe’s existence. I like Jack because he’s a good quote machine, gruff guy that seems like the sort that once you know him, you get him and like him. Also because he doesn’t keep his mouth shut and it pisses off the other trainers and their old boys club.
