Versus lists Trejo as 19-12-4 with 17 KO. Makes him seem like a REALLY big puncher.

Angel’s been in with a LOT of good fighters. Vanes has not. Could be interesting.

Martirosyan-Hernandez R1

HUGE right by Martirosyan within the first 30 seconds. Martirosyan is towering over Angel. Hernandez with a big chase. Uppercut lands, down goes Hernandez. “Whoo!” and he laughs about it. Have fun, guy.

1:48 left in the round.

Hernandez is getting pounded, coming up short, getting hit at will. Left is low. Martirosyan is having a field day. Left hook shakes Hernandez. Hernandez cannot come inside.

Left uppercut sneaks in. Hernandez is bleeding under the right eye a little bit, or maybe it’s just swelling up. Uppercut from the right hand gets through again, but Hernandez survives the round.

After trying to talk up Hernandez in the pre-fight, they’re now making this out to be the mismatch of all mismatches.

Hernandez with a really wild right hand that misses even the air around Vanes. Right hand from Vanes. Martirosyan’s uppercut has worked really well. BIG left hook from Vanes. Hernandez calls him on. This isn’t exactly competitive.

Long, soft overhand right from Hernandez. It landed square, but seemed to have no pop at all. They can’t decide whether or not Hernandez is a tomato can.

Martirosyan’s jab is landing, he’s counter-punching well, and he’s not getting overly aggressive. He’s too fast, too tall, and too strong for Hernandez, who is just plain washed up and doesn’t have enough to press this guy.

Actually, Martirosyan might be being a bit too cautious right now. He’s rarely pressing any of the action. He’s landing a shot at a time, mostly. When he does let loose, he dominates Hernandez. Pretty dull round, another one for Vanes.

Martirosyan-Hernandez R4

Punches in round 3: Martirosyan 22/58, Hernandez 3/40. THREE.

Stiff jab from Vanes. The jab is really landing solidly, shoving Hernandez back every time he even sort of tries to come forward. Martirosyan needs a real step up sometime soon. He’s past this level of fighter.

Hook from Vanes, big angling right hand follows. Hernandez is just having a great time, it appears. Taunting, laughing. Getting destroyed. Taunting some more. Getting further destroyed by rights and lefts. Landing nothing. Not even being close to “in” the fight.

Martirosyan-Hernandez R5

Really like the jabs from Martirosyan. Against a good opponent, that might wind up being his best weapon. He jabs with real authority, and doubles up very well.

This fight isn’t close. At some point you have to wonder what Hernandez’s motivation really is to keep going. Hernandez is missing on these wild, long right hands, just loving the results. “Ha ha ha,” he exclaims, “This is a blast!” I’m sure Vanes is having an OK time, too, considering he’s winning every round.

Wild left by Martirosyan misses, but he lands a couple good rights just before the bell.

Another uppercut from Vanes. This is a sparring session, and the sparring partner sucks. Overhand right lands a bit later. Hernandez has landed maybe two good punches this fight counting the one that just got in, but he ate a shot to land that one, so 50/50.

More jabbing, occasional punches. Hernandez picks Vanes up on a clinch—seriously. This guy’s a joker card. Hernandez is chased down and hurt again, and goes back to taunting. Good for him. What a warrior.

Martirosyan-Hernandez R7

Martirosyan has a cut on his eyelid. Time to get aggressive and close this out.

Hernandez IS tough. No questioning that. A shot to the body slows Hernandez WAY down. Thinking of it, Vanes hasn’t gone to the body at all this fight. All jabs and headhunting.

If Hernandez makes it out of this last minute, he’ll have taken Vanes further than anyone has. He’s losing badly and needs a knockout, but hey, that’s something.

Right hands from Vanes, and a couple of left hooks land, too. Martirosyan is finishing rounds really well. If he’d turn up the heat before there were 30 seconds left, he might get this guy out of there.

Haha, I know they’re reading BoxRec.com right now because he slipped up and almost said “Ronald Wright” instead of “Winky Wright” while trying to recount the opponents of each man. No one but BoxRec calls him “Ronald Wright”—they’ve even finally bent to the will of Yory Boy Campas.

To be honest, while Vanes is handily winning and Hernandez can’t land fuck all, I agree with their thought that Vanes has resigned himself to the belief that he cannot knock Hernandez out. But I’m interested to see if he gets more aggressive at 30-40 seconds left in the round again.

Martirosyan with a nice 1-2 at the end of the round, but no storming this time.

Yet more routine outboxing. Hernandez, god bless him, is swinging big and trying to do what he can, which is get a miracle KO at this point.

For a fight that started so hot, this one has died. Both guys are taking this round off, one can afford it and the other cannot. Hernandez taunts after Vanes slips a bit.

They come out firing for this final round. Then they stop.

Nice uppercut from Vanes. Right hand lands. Another stinging uppercut that seemingly came from left field. If Hernandez was in better shape, stronger, and had faster hands, this might’ve been a good fight. Oh well.

Vanes backs him down with a couple more good shots. More good shots at the end, and we went all 10.

First minute is more or less a feeling-out process.

Nice uppercut from Trejo, but then he’s popped with some nice left hands from Peterson and a right to the body follows.

Pretty slow first round. Both guys just getting their feet wet.

Peterson-Trejo R2

Left to the body by Peterson. He’s flicking the jab out there over and over, keeping Trejo well away. Peterson is taking no chances, and Trejo can’t get into a position to do so.

Both guys try to work the body a little, and Peterson drops back and lets Trejo throw at him. He’s picking them off with his elbows and leaning away from pretty much all of them. Double hook by Trejo.

A little bit of a trade near the bell. Well, there was MORE action this round…

Trejo 10-9—Peterson’s jabs are effective in keeping Trejo away, but Fernando landed some good shots

Peterson-Trejo R3

Peterson jabs, jabs, jabs, jabs. That’s all the hell he’s doing. Now he’s looking for an uppercut or a hook to the body. Nothing manages to get in there.

Uhhh, hmm. I wish I would’ve kept watching the NBA draft. Trejo’s got no power so far, and Peterson is just controlling without doing a whole lot. Trejo manages to land some lefts to the body, and then sticks two in to the head at the end of the round.

This is a pain in the ass fight to score.

Nice right combo, body and head from Peterson. I do like how Peterso emotes every time he punches. Fwah! Fwah fwah!

Peterson’s jab is getting home a little more often now. Trejo backs him into the ropes but gets little work done. Nice left hook to the body from Peterson. Fwah! Fwah fwah! Right hand from Peterson, pretty punch. Peterson’s picking off Trejo’s advances and is now picking Fernando apart.

I do like how honest they’ll be. Wally talks about boxing being about more than winning. I agree on his Winky Wright not becoming a superstar thing and Mike Tyson being one.

Nice left hooks by Peterson to end another rather dull round.

Trejo is a peeee-iiiiimp.

Peterson with some shots to the body. Then he goes back to saying fwah! a lot. Nice right by Peterson. Trejo is trying here and there, but he can’t get much done. Nice body work by Peterson. Peterson wants that right uppercut to complement his left hook, but no dice thus far as far as hurting Trejo with either shot.

Hey, this is halfway over.

Wally is pretty critical of Peterson, whether he wants it to be heard that way or not. I kind of get what he’s saying.

Maybe it’s just that there’s something else on I’m interested in watching, but this is dull as house paint on a Ford Escort. You tell me.

Peterson with a couple good shots here and there. Trejo tries now and again. Peterson controls the pace and the distance. Fwah! Fwah! Left uppercut from Peterson.

I wonder how sick these guys are of calling these Top Rank-booked mismatches and shitfests? And I can’t believe that Versus has so few fights that they actually REPLAY those god awful Solis-Grigsby and Rahman-Sykes fights from 2007. No one wants to see that bullshit again.

Fuck, this fight sucks. These cards suck.
