Looking Back: Antonio Margarito v. Joshua Clottey
This fight served as one of the tougher tests of Antonio Margarito's run, and it was a night where he was gut-checked by an underdog that wouldn't go away. Joshua Clottey is a guy with a rock-hard chin, like Shane Mosley is. Clottey was reportedly hurt during the fight, which hampered his performance somewhat in the latter portions, and he also doesn't have the speed that Mosley still retains.
Here it is, Margarito-Clottey from December 2006. The first part is here in the main post, the rest is after the jump.

I don’t think you can use Clottey to say that Mosley will give Margarito problems. Clottey’s ability to keep his hands up and elbows in tight, the ability to get in Margarito’s face, block his punches, and get off combinations is what troubled Margarito. Mosley doesn’t have the strength or defense to go after Margarito like Clottey did, in my humble opinion.
I agree
I’m not trying to say that Margarito-Clottey is what Shane should look at for a gameplan, or at least all of one. I do think some of the things Clottey did could serve Mosley well, and they’re roughly the same size. Shane could also get on Margarito early and mess with his rhythm, like Williams did, but Williams was also taller than Margarito. There’s no great comparison in a past fight on either side, really, which makes this a really interesting fight.

What scares me about this fight is how much trouble Mayorga was able to give Shane in his last fight, I am worried that Margarito could do some lasting damage on Shane. Mosley is getting up there in the years.
I don't worry about it at all
Shane has always been sluggish and just too damn small at 154. Mayorga’s got a much bigger body than Shane does and was heavy on fight night. Shane’s gameplan and corner advice also sucked, and I think it’s no coincidence he split with his dad for Nazim Richardson pretty much right after that fight. He allowed Mayorga to stay in that fight. When Mosley threw, he outclassed Mayorga. But he gave rounds away by standing there like he didn’t know what he was doing.
