Marquez-Ponce de Leon being discussed
BoxingScene.com says that handlers for Daniel Ponce de Leon say there's a fight with Rafael Marquez in the works.
Both are former 122-pound titlists that are looking to jump right back into the mix, with this fight either serving as an eliminator with one of the sanctioning bodies or some sort of interim title fight.
Marquez (37-5, 33 KO) has lost two straight to Israel Vazquez, and hasn't fought since their last epic in March. Ponce de Leon (35-2, 31 KO) won his last fight, a rebound near-gimme after he was blown out by Juan Manuel Lopez in June.
Ponce de Leon is looking to return on March 14, but that date won't likely be against Marquez. If the Marquez-Ponce de Leon fight does come off, I think we'd all be happy to see it. It'd be another explosive fight at 122 pounds, and would get both of them back in the ring to boot.

I love Ponce De Leon. He is crude and not the least bit technical, but he has one thing is is very rare in the lower weight classes, and it is one punch knock out power. He has had some of the best KOs I have ever seen. I think he would get outclassed but all he needs is one punch to win the fight. He also had one of the best chins in boxing prior to getting KOed by Lopez.

Bout damn time that Marquez is getting back into action
Hopefully, once he’s shaken off the ring rust, his handlers will be willing to put him in with Caballero or Lopez.
Vogt early, Vogt often.
