Ariel Helwani of FanHouse speaks with Jared Shaw, the son of boxing promoter Gary Shaw. The Shaws famously made a mess of EliteXC on CBS last year when Kimbo Slice turned out to not be so amazing after all, shocking considering he was so good at punching guys built like me in backyards.
About 8:45 into this video, Shaw discusses the idea that Kimbo should be in boxing. I again say this is ludicrous, just an awful idea, and not to be smug because I'm just a fan and everything, but thinking that Kimbo Slice, 35 years old, could compete in professional boxing past the lowest of levels shows a serious lack of understanding of these sports.
If you put Kimbo in with a Klitschko, he'll be crushed. If you put him in with Arreola, he'll be crushed. If you put him in with some journeyman like Ronald Bellamy, he'll probably lose pretty badly there. He's not fast, his power is not other-worldly or anything, and he'd get chewed up and spit out in boxing. I think Kimbo is a cool guy and I wish he'd come into boxing, like, 20 years ago, but he didn't.

I think something like this would happen to him… if he ventured into boxing.

Jared
Yeah brah I totally know what your spitting brah. That was just some bullshit with Kimbo. Lets go pump it out at the gym, take some PROTEIN, then get a couple heinkens brah.
How can this guy interviewer do his job without wanting to punch this guy. I remember one of the Gary Shaw fights recently, I think it was the Bradley fight, and Jared went with the super-turbo-douchebag outfit and demeanor in the ring. This guy needs to go away…..

Kinbo would be better off in boxing than MMA, no? =)

Feed him to some aging fatty who needs a win and could use a paycheck, what I say. That’s about the only use I have for Kimbo. I really don’t understand why everyone seems to preface their criticism of Kimbo with the obligatory “I actually really like Kimbo Slice” comment. Fuck Kimbo. He’s a sideshow and always has been. He’s a waste and an embarrassment to combat sports. I don’t care if he’s a “nice guy.”

Let it all out.... :)

Put Kimbo, Bowie Tupou and Travis Kaufman in a cage together
just to see whose chin gets cracked first.
GSP is having a HORRIBLE run with heavyweights lately. Hell, they’re just having a horrible run lately. It seems like half their fighters have been upset lately. By the looks of their website, Shaw dropped half of them like hot potatoes the second they lost.

Shaw thinks one loss = death. Shaw’s bad for boxing. His son seems even worse for anything.
