Weights in for Saturday's Super Six fights, Dirrell struggles on the scale
Carl Froch and Andre Dirrell both made weight in Nottingham for tomorrow night's Super Six showdown. Froch came in at 167, but Andre Dirrell was originally a quarter pound over the 168-pound limit. He came back to the scales a second time and had boiled himself down to 167 1/2.
Froch said that Dirrell was struggling with weight, and now that's validated. That could be an issue tomorrow night. Not only is Dirrell fighting overseas as a professional for the first time, in Froch's hometown no less, but he's had a weight problem now. Could be rough going, or maybe it won't wind up being a big deal. I'd say the chance that Froch's relentless pressure catches up to Dirrell just went up, though.
In Berlin, Arthur Abraham was at 168 pounds on the nose, and Jermain Taylor weighed in at 166 1/4. Taylor came in at 166 in April for his fight with Carl Froch, so being a couple pounds under the limit is no surprise. This will be Abraham's fight fight with the 168-pound limit, though he did fight Edison Miranda at a 166-pound catchweight in 2008. Abraham has struggled to make 160 for a while now, so in theory he'll be even stronger going up in weight, but Kelly Pavlik has had a few troubles making 160, too, and his jumps over the middleweight limit have been shaky at best.
Bad Left Hook will have live coverage tomorrow night starting at 8pm ET. And again:
Note: The Abraham-Taylor fight will be shown in America on tape delay. Anyone that posts spoiler results will be banned for at least a day.

Abraham looks shockingly less drained there

Dirrell doesn't appear to be doing himself any favours
I’m a little astonished that he’s opening the tournament by ,messing up on the scales. It may not be a huge deal – these things do happen – but when you consider the enormity of this fight for him (as arguably the least experienced boxer here), I think it is.
He looked extremely nervous yesterday at the final presser and this news won’t help convince fans that he’s ready to give Froch trouble. I believe he’s the most talented in the tournament, but that alone won’t equate to victories. I am now more set than ever on a Froch late-round KO.
Abraham looks very good, as does Taylor. But I think Taylor can still out-box AA for the win tomorrow. I just don’t think Abe can keep pace with someone like Taylor and this time I really do believe that the latter has improved on his well documented stamina issues. Taylor by SD.

Dirrell has been surprising at the press conference. Froch is absolutely right when he says that Dirrell “lacks class” and for the first time I will be rooting for Froch. I hope he puts that loudmouthed fool in his place.

Worrisome stuff about the weight. A quarter pound isn’t huge, but it’s not small either. Don’t know that it changes my prediction, but things just got that much dicier for Dirrell.

Winners!
Froch will bull rush through Dirrell. Dirrell will be a champion in this division at some point, but Froch is a whole different animal than anything Dirrell has seen before. Young hungry fighters like Dirrell are used to really dominating and when he puts his best out there and still sees Froch coming at him like a robot, it will dishearten him. If Dirrell doesn’t finish this in the first seven rounds, he won’t win. And he won’t.
Abraham is too much for Taylor at this point, but I expect Jermain Taylor to be the most focused and scariest fighter in this grouping because unlike the other guys he’s fighting for his career. Taylor has the most experience, been in their with some of the best in the middleweight division, and won’t be scared by Abraham. Abraham is just too good, he is a champion, and unlike Dirrell he’s ready for this.
Froch and Abraham both finish their fights.
