Half inch difference in height for Seeger and Seeger has 1 1/2" of reach to his advantage.

Fonseca-Seeger R1
Seeger snapping a jab off, but it’s short. Both guys keeping their distance. Fonseca with a jab that glances. Pretty safe first minute from both guys. Seeger short on a right hand that was right there for him. Sneaky body shot by Fonseca as they tangle. Both guys are short on just about everything they’re throwing, and Seeger is pretty wide as always. Seeger with a right to the body. Left lands for Seeger. Seeger takes a couple body shots near the ropes, and he starts turning up the aggression, swinging wild. If I scored 10-10 rounds, this would probably be one. I’ll go with the aggressor.
Seeger 10-9

Fonseca trying to land some shots as they tangle again. Then Fonseca goes “WOOO!” after he sidesteps some shots. What a dork.
Good jab from Seeger, and now they both fire shots with their free hands as they tie up again. Fonseca is really fighting awkwardly and kinda dirty, throwing a lot on the breaks. Fonseca lands a couple rabbit punches and Seeger complains. To be fair, Seeger is initializing a lot of this holding, and he’s not helping the ugliness. Fonseca with a left hand that lands.
Fonseca 10-9
19-19

Fonseca-Seeger R3
Fonseca leads with a sharp left hand that seems to catch Seeger totally off guard. Seeger ties up and bulls around. 1-2 from Fonseca. When he throws he’s shaking Seeger up pretty well. Right lands for Fonseca. Uppercut from Fonseca. Seeger’s hands are low and he’s just open to get tagged. I mean you can see this coming a mile away. Counter right from Seeger is barely short and could’ve been a difference-maker. Fonseca throws some shots near the bell, and squeaks out the round.
Fonseca 10-9

Fonseca-Seeger R4
Quick left hook counter from Seeger, but not a lot of zip on it. Fonseca with a straight left down the pipe. Fonseca is starting to take this fight by the horns, landing good clean shots. Seeger is getting sloppy and just plain running around with his hands down and trying to punch at odd times. Seeger is hit with another shot he didn’t see coming. That’s happening too frequently. He’s losing all control of the action. There’s another straight left, and then another little right hand. He’s being timed with ease and has no grip on Fonseca.
Fonseca 10-9
Fonseca 39-37

Fonseca-Seeger R5
Seeger’s really just not landing with any power. He’s not throwing straight punches, and he doesn’t have timing at all. Left hand by Fonseca. And there’s a nice left moments later. Seeger is ducking, clinching, grabbing, anything he can do to disrupt Fonseca, but it’s not working. They’re told to break now and keep throwing anyway. Both warned for it. Seeger throwing again, but again Fonseca easily dodges. Seeger does land a right there, but Fonseca goes to the body in counter. And another left.

Fonseca-Seeger R6
There is really nothing on Seeger’s shots tonight. They’re throwing on breaks again, and Fonseca continues to dictate the pace. Seeger is the aggressor in many ways, but it’s totally ineffective and Fonseca is simply using it against him. Seeger is short on his punches, wild with them, lazy with his jab, and he’s got no pop tonight. I like Al Seeger quite a bit, actually, one of those favorites you pick up just from seeing a guy a few times, and he’s trying to fight here, but he’s way off tonight. That said, he’s winning this round because Fonseca really isn’t doing F all in there. This was a lot like the first. Seeger wins when Fonseca does nothing.
Seeger 10-9

Fonseca-Seeger R7
And to start this round, Fonseca is throwing punches, and as such, he begins dominating again. And then in the second minute, Fonseca gets back on his bike and backpedals around the ring. Seeger is right there to be hit, and has been all night. As sloppy as he’s looked, Fonseca has looked that lazy as an offensive fighter. Seeger lands a big right, his best shot of the night.
Another heavy right comes in, doesn’t quite land. And there’s a body shot from Seeger. It’s not pretty, but now I’ve got him winning two rounds in a row, and he’s right back in this fight.
Seeger 10-9

Fonseca-Seeger R8
Seeger aggressive again, and now Fonseca seems to know he should be throwing back at least sometimes. Fonseca now wide on his shots. Counter right by Seeger! Now they’re trading a little and by trading I mean throwing and missing. And now the tape on Fonseca’s other glove is loose. He’s a trunks adjustment or an untied shoe away from a trifecta this round.
Seeger landing right hand potshots now. Seeger on the ropes, throwing, and Fonseca is just leaning and throwing shots after the bell. He’s warned about it and told another one and a point will be taken.
Seeger 10-9

Fonseca-Seeger R9
Hard left from Fonseca, who’s gotten really chippy. Fonseca has him busted open pretty well now. Seeger’s been cut a little for most of the fight, but now he’s really swelling up and juicing pretty well. Fonseca has turned predator this round, throwing massive left hands like he’s on a video game. And that one lands! Seeger nearly down! He’s hurting. He’s just loading up that left hand over and over when they break. See if he does it again: YEP! And it lands again! Seeger hurt AND DOWN ON A LEFT HAND
IT IS OVER!

Hernandez-Frias R1
Frias keeping his gloves really high for the first half of the round, with Hernandez throwing way more and landing a few body shots along the way. Hernandez with a looping left hook. Frias trying to duck down, fighting short and working a jab. Hernandez really digging to the body now, as Frias seems content to just not get hit upstairs. There’s a right that sneaks in for Freddy.

Hernandez-Frias R2
John David Jackson wants Frias to get a little more aggressive, it seems, saying Hernandez is slow. Hernandez throwing to start hte round, and Frias meeting him at times. Accidental headbutt.
Hernandez very aggressive, throwing in bunches. Frias is doing well defensively, but he’s just plain getting outworked this round and not landing the clean shots he would need to to combat that. Hernandez is just working his ass off this round, keeping Frias turning and doing little else. Digging in some body shots now. Frias is doing nothing offensively now, and Hernandez is owning this round.

Hernandez-Frias R3
Hernandez continues to outwork Frias. Now he swings a wild, slow, wide right hand that doesn’t even come close to landing. Hernandez with more good body work as Frias continues to just let that happen. Frias with a quick shot upstairs, but Hernandez with another body shot. We look like we’re cruising toward a Hernandez UD. Nobody’s hurting anybody and Frias just isn’t doing anything.

Hernandez-Frias R4
Hernandez doing the same thing he’s done the entire fight, same with Frias. Frias lands a nice shot, and now he’s actually trying to counter Hernandez coming in, which is just dandy. Anything that breaks the monotony that this fight has become mired in. And Hernandez just keeps coming anyway, which leads Frias to abandon that switch in approach. Neither of these guys look like they have a lot of real power, and though Frias is the more technically sound of the two, he’s getting pounded to the body and losing this fight by an increasingly wide margin. Hernandez even ends the round just laying in shot after shot to the body.

Hernandez-Frias R5
Many Shobox main events feature fighters with great futures and huge potential against tough gatekeepers. Some Shobox main events feature a couple of battle-tested guys that make for exciting fights. Other Shobox main events feature two young, limited guys that come to knock someone out.
This is none of those. If you combined these two guys, you’ve got a C+ fighter. I like Hernandez’s very steady body attack and workrate, and I like Frias high-handed guard, but otherwise, bleh. I don’t expect I’m going to see Freddy Hernandez challenging for any major titles.

First half of the round is largely more of the same, then Hernandez backs up, something to do with his balls. Frias opening up a bit more offensively this round. And now Frias is stuck on the ropes, and Hernandez throws but doesn’t land much. Hernandez landing to the body again.

Hernandez-Frias R7
Frias landing some decent timed shots upstairs now. Straight left and Frias scores again. And again, but just a bit short. And again the straight left is there. And again it’s there. He’s picking off Hernandez’s rights at will and pumping that lead left in there beautifully this round. Probably too little too late, but hey, he’s fighting.
Y’know…I think I like Antonio Tarver the commentator.
Hernandez with a sneaky right inside. Round ends. Best for Frias by far.

Hernandez-Frias R8
Straight left is there again for Frias, but it comes after Hernandez establishes more body work in the first minute of the round. Hernandez takes over, jumping in and out with 1-2 shots over and over. Not all of it lands, but he just keeps doing it and Frias lets it go on, right in his face, right in front of him and God and everybody. More body work this round. Hernandez has built up such body work that I think if he had any real power he’d be in position to stop Frias by now, but it doesn’t appear even remotely close to happening.

Hernandez-Frias R10
Let’s see if Frias comes swinging for a knockout. John David Jackson and the corner are telling him to do that, it seems, and Hernandez’s corner is telling him to stay aggressive, too.
Yup, they’re out to fight. Frias lands a beautiful right hook that the commentators completely miss as they tell their story. Left hand lands for Frias. Left hand shakes Hernandez! HERNANDEZ ON THE ROPES AND CLINCHING UP! He spit his mouthpiece out, and they’re letting it go until the clinch, and they do. Hernandez is hurting for sure. This might be turning on a dime.
Hernandez clinching and trying to spend every last possible second tied up. And now Frias has backed off some. Frias shoots a hard left in just after I say that, and Hernandez again hangs on. Round Frias, but fight Hernandez.
