Nice to see Solis actually trained for this one. The guy's only about 6'1". Until recently, he'd been fighting around 250, which was heavy for a guy his size, but he didn't look completely fat and bloated like Cris Arreola did at the weight. 271 is just ridiculous. Another reason to root for Monte Barrett.
Solis looks undeniably heavy, and Barrett, while faded, is no joke opponent. In fact, Top Rank did a hell of a job getting him in on such short notice, and Monte looks to be in phenomenal shape.

If he was half a foot taller I could see it. I mean he’s not FAT like I’m fat or like some guy at the mall is fat, but Jesus Christ, this is a professional sport.

conditioning work must be casual in the extreme…very much hoping for Barrett in this one

It’s a show that gets these guys on TV if you feel like paying for it. They do these Latin Fury shows several times a year. Nothing different, nothing unique.

Has the Caballero fight already been finalized? Just saw a video from El Nuevo Dia where Lopez says: First this guy is going down then Caballero is next on the 23rd of January.

It hasn’t been finalized. Top Rank’s recent press material has Lopez tentatively listed to fight Steven Luevano on 1/23, but that’s not going to happen. It’ll be Lopez-Caballero.

I think either of them eventually knock John out at this point. Rocky Juarez has hurt John twice now, and as strong as Rocky is at 126, he’s nowhere near as dynamic as Gamboa or Lopez. Anyway, they’ll probably fight each other, and before they ever fought John they’d probably fight Luevano.
