E:60 - Death of a Champion

ESPN did a 12-minute feature on the ongoing speculation concerning the summer death of Arturo Gatti, which has been ruled a suicide. Micky Ward and others contribute comments. It's still hard to believe Gatti's really gone.

Follow Up

Wasn’t there a follow up investigation done by the Canadian Authorities that came to the same exact conclusion….sort of. This report kinda neglected the second autopsy that found a drug that causes drowsiness but didn’t know if it was enough to be drugged. Strange case to say the least but both answers are understandable. Suicide because he was worried that she was going to leave with his son, murder because she couldn’t take the beatings and wanted the money.

well in the video the head of the brazilian investigative team says that gatti committed suicide by hanging himself with the purse strap, and stayed hanging for 3 hours. in the E:60 report schaap says that gatti could have been hanging for more than 5 minutes on the purse strap

but to answer your query, yes the canadian authorities confirmed that his death was by hanging, but they didn’t rule out if he was drugged or not.

Seems a little too much rabble rousing for my taste. Its a suicide….but is it? We’re not saying its not…thats what all these people say….and I mean his wife, she’s a stripper and is definitely not just in it for money, says she didn’t do it. We report you decide, Fox News!….er ESPN! Seriously this story is ridiculous….

Also, be warned. obv this is a disturbing story, but they do show photos of gatti’s body, and a short (but long enough) clip of the coroners or whoever dragging his body out in a bag. all you see is the bag, but if you cared for gatti as much as i did then you might not want to see that
