A few "internet rumors"

  1. Tomasz Adamek's next fight could be against Hasim Rahman, according to Polsat. His next fight will be early February in New Jersey at heavyweight, no matter who the opponent.
  2. Marco Antonio Barrera may still be shooting for a title in a fourth weight class. He's trying to get a fight with Paulus Moses, currently the weakest of the lightweight titlists.
  3. More than just a rumor - Carlos Quintana will face Jesse Feliciano on the untelevised Williams-Martinez undercard.
  4. Edison Miranda may be getting in position for another title shot already. His team is starting to lay groundwork for a shot at Robert Stieglitz. Miranda has some name value in Germany due to his war with Arthur Abraham.
  5. Wapakman causing a fuss in the Philippines. Movie may be pulled if it would violate election law, and there are heavy rumors of an affair with his female costar Krista Ranillo.

Obviously I don’t condone cheating on your wife, especially if you have kids, but if it’s true Manny may deserve some props…

Props for what? Being rich and famous?

I am reminded of one of the few reprintable lines from Nas’ “Ether”: “What you think, you getting girls now ’cause of your looks?”

Although no one could accuse Manny of not being able to grow a moustache.

Go Edison! Maybe a Miranda win could set up a nice unification fight with Bute and even more clarity in the division.

I don’t think Edison Miranda can help clarify anything in the division. He’s not even in the argument.

I’m not saying he is. But he could be a vehicle for putting Stieglitz’s belt in play among those who are.

I don't think he's much worse than Stieglitz

And if he can win a belt, a Miranda-Bute unification is about the only big fight in the weight class I can think of not involving the super six fighters.

I really think he’s an overrated puncher. I mean he knocked the crap out of David Banks, but eh. Kelly Pavlik beat the aggression right the hell out of him and he’s been pretty lame since.

He can punch big when he sets his feet

He also broke Arthur Abraham’s jaw in 2 places, don’t forget. He has a massive punch. He’s just not very aggressive, or good at setting it up. For whatever reason, there’s always been this myth of him being an aggressive fighter, but he was alwayws a 40 – 50 punch a round guy to begin with, and he’s become even less aggressive since Pavlik.

That said, Allan Green is still a “step up” fight that he won. I mean, the three fighters he’s lost two have 1 loss between them, and the loss was to a P4P top 5 fighter. He just hasn’t faced that many guys in the second tier, so it’s hard to say where he fits in there. Next best fights were probably Green and Banks.

I’d be into a Miranda-Green rematch, actually, but good luck getting Green in there.
