Wladimir Klitschko sick of discussing David Haye

In an interview with Sky Sports (video available at the link), Wladimir Klitschko said he's done discussing David Haye, saying that the new WBA titlist isn't "serious" and isn't worth his time.

"I actually don't want to give you any comments on David Haye because he bailed out twice, from my fight and my brother's fight," Klitschko said.

"I'm actually tired of giving comments about David Haye.

"He's immature, he's not serious enough to take a challenge, and this is it."

Klitschko is still recovering from shoulder surgery, and is expected to fight either Eddie Chambers or Alexander Povetkin in the spring of 2010. Haye has a mandatory challenge from John Ruiz expected to take place in March or April. Wladimir's brother, Vitali, fights again in just a couple of weeks, when he takes on unbeaten American Kevin Johnson.

Wladimir especially seems genuinely tired of Haye's name being mentioned. Look, no matter how you want to look at it, this is a fighter that talked enormous trash on both brothers, was set to fight each of them, and bailed both times. The Klitschkos are pretty serious about their careers, and if they feel like Haye jerked them around and wasted their time (they got good fights as replacements, but still), then Haye might have a good mountain to climb to get back on their radar.

I doubt it. The K brothers have a right to complain, but when the money is in place and time is right, I doubt they’ll let past grudges stand in the way of the fight. They seem like pretty rational sorts to me, and the cost/risk ratio massively favors them.

They won't let past grudges get in the way of a fight.

They’ll just sign the contract and, if Haye actually grows the balls to get in the ring, they’ll get in there and kill him.

I doubt Haye fights either one of them until 2011 at the earliest

Wlad has two mandatories to face, both of whom I rate higher than Haye at HW. Haye has to face Ruiz, then Valuev in a rematch, and then likely Kali Meehan (who’s been a mandatory for over 2 years now and still can’t catch a damn break, and who I think would completely starch Haye). While Haye will probably avoid Haye, he knows it’s in his best interest to take the easiest fights possible in the UK, where he’s becoming a star, and to wait for the Klitschkos to age a bit before trying to face them.

Why do you think Meehan will starch Haye? I don’t know anything about him so I’m interested.

Meehan is slow as hell

But he’s a decent boxer and his punches pack a wallop. I thought he beat Brewster (when he was a top 3 HW) for a title, but the judges saw it the other way. He also dominated DaVarryl Williamson not too long ago. Stylistically, he’s a bit like Carl Froch – hands low, sneaky jab, punches from all angles, has good power. He also has a better workrate than Froch and has a great right hook. Three issues – he’s slow, he’s old (and has been inactive lately, so who knows how much he’s faded) and he’s a bit chinny. But stylistically, he has as good of a chance at beating Haye as anyone not named Klitschko.

Last time his brother, Vilati, was on a radio show 2 days before the Arreola fight he was asked: ‘So, what’s going on with David Haye? Are you or you brother planning on facing him in the future?"

Valiti responded: [Aggravated] "Don’t even mention him! Don’t even ask about him. The guy is a total joke. Makes no sense to talk about him.’

Nicolai Valuev and David Haye weigh in. Valuev came in at 315, while Haye came in at 218. Valuev has tended to look his best when he weighs in around 320, but usually he leaves his clothes on for the weigh in, so he's probably around his ideal weight.
