Mike Tyson "irritated" during Sky News interview, denies return
Above is a clip of Mike Tyson interviewed by Dermot Murnaghan of Sky News, with Tyson getting "irritated" by the same old questions about things he said over a decade ago. In the same interview, Tyson denied the rumors that he was considering a ring return of any sport. He says he has no interest.
To be honest, I think Tyson's re-found fame might be getting to him. I mean he's been everywhere in the last 18 months or so, from the documentary film to The Hangover to two appearances in one week on Oprah, and everywhere he goes he's grilled about the same stupid statements he made ages ago. He has to constantly go, "Yeah, I sure am a changed person, aren't I? Yeah, I said those things. Yeah, I did that. Yeah, I went to jail. Yeah, I bit Evander. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But now, no, I'm different."

Not surprising he’s finding it difficult to cope with things.
He’s always struggled with fame. A lot of people inside the United States don’t understand once you leave the US guys like Barry Bonds and Kobe Bryant are practically unknown in nearly any country you go to apart from maybe Canada.
Mike Tyson was famous to the degree he couldn’t go to England, US, Russia, Kazakhstan and even countries like India and Iran without people mobbing him.
I remember the first time he touched down in England a few years ago he was walking the streets alone just checking out jewellery shops.
About an hour later so many people started following him around they had to escort him into a police station. A few hours later word gets around he’s in town and two thousand people have gathered outside the police station and he is talking from a loud speaker asking them to let him go.
In the end he had to leave in a police van that had tinted windows.
Only celebrity that has got that reaction close to that other than Mike is Muhammad Ali and Michael Jackson.
Some of these guys were complete titans of fame and for the most part it ate away at them with everything they did being under a microscope. After they retired they nearly disappeared off the map so you can tell they wanted and needed a break from it all.
He’s apparently doing a promotional tour in Britain at the moment. I hope he’s prepared once word gets out he’s likely going to find it extremely hard to maneuveur again.

Yes Barry Bonds. No to Kobe Bryant. Basketball is an international sport now.

Kobe Bryant?
Most of my friends here in England may have heard the name, but they wouldn’t be able to identify him in a line-up if their life depended on it; they do, however, know exactly who (US citizens) Mayweather, De La Hoya, Hopkins, Jones and Mosley are. I don’t know about the rest of Europe, but basketball as a TV sport is way, way down the list here in the UK, way lower than gridiron in fact

I don't think I could pick Bryant out of a line up
And I’m a pretty big sports fan. But basketball is a popular global sport now – much bigger in most of Europe than it is here
As for Tyson, if he dislikes it so much, why is he actually doing these interviews?

Well yeah, the UK is not basketball heavy, but the sport is quite big in in other parts of Europe, in China, in South America, etc. It has grown amazingly over the last 20 years or so.

What I found really weird though
Was that the biggest basketball star in China when I was there seemed to be Paul Pierce.

Understood
Just a UK perspective, and I’m not saying I’m very representative of the average sport fan over here, either (although I’d say most of my friends are).
