Bad Left Hook Live Boxing Results and Commentary: Jason Litzau v. Johnnie Edwards

ESPN goes back to Camp Lejuene in North Carolina with a show for the troops. Square Ring has Jason Litzau and Frankie Figueroa in the house, and the main event should be pretty fun. As Brickhaus said in this week's schedule, Litzau is a flashy guy that likes to look impressive. The show starts at 8pm ET.

Hey so the Lions play the Seahawks this weekend

Should we beat you 45-0 or 21-17?

Either way the Lions are getting an L at Qwest Field. ;-)

We need the win since we’re in a division that is live boxing’s HW division: incredibly low standards.

You know what I wanted the Lions to do at No. 1? Just draft Aaron Curry. Dude can play. But even though JP is pretty old he’s busting his ass. I’m hoping some “veteran presence” rubs off or that he at least punches someone for Lions-style half-assing it.

This weekend

You’ll think Stan Kwan is a genius when you see Seattle’s suckass special teams sucks again.

But that’s it. Our pass-rush is decent so I see heavy blitzing and Stafford murdered.

But probably not worth discussing since Frank Warren will NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER let Khan get in a situation where he’d need to face 2 of the 3 biggest punchers in the division back to back.

Figueroa-Holloway R1

Right hand from Holloway off the bat. Southpaw Figueroa with a lead left. Holloway nearly walks into another one. Holloway has a big height advantage here, but I don’t think it’s as big as Litzau’s six inches in the main event. Holloway opening up with Frankie on the ropes, but nothing lands. I like when Teddy says “enchelon.”

Figueroa with some flurrying in close, but he’s not landing much either. Teddy is really rambling here about Margarito and Holloway. Sloppy round, these guys are both struggling a bit to figure the other out.

Figueroa 10-9

So I guess it’s not that unlikely.

The one that seems less and less likely to me by the day though is that he loaded for Cotto.

I just want to understand this is all. You’re totally free to dislike Cotto obviously, just like I dislike Zab or Figueroa here, but I dunno, dismissing the entire fight seems counter-productive. I mean who should be rated ahead of Cotto if he’s overrated? Berto?

i’m not totally disregarding this fight (despite what i said above). i just don’t think cotto is all that hot. he shouldve gotten his block knocked off by judah but he punked his way to some free time with some dirty ass moves. i had both clottey and mosley beating him, and i honestly believe pacquiao is just way too good for him. he’s open to a lot of shots, cuts too easily, and he’s been “boxing” too much lately which will lead to his demise against pacquiao

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen someone thinking Mosley beat Cotto. It was a great fight but IMO Cotto clearly won.

The Judah fight is debatable in that way; I get what you’re saying, but even the bullshit low blows from Cotto might have been irrelevant once Zab started folding when Cotto didn’t just quit.

I'll do a story on it eventually

There’s a lot of evidence that’s come out both ways since then. But in Nevada, the NSAC provides all the wrappings. In California, you can bring your own. The Nevada commissioner claims he gave them the wrappings and watched them wrap it. On the other hand, check this picture from the Cotto fight, post-fight:

Figueroa-Holloway R2

This is really an awkward fight. Their sizes, the lefty-righty matchup, the fact that neither of them are punchers and have to do work to get anything big done… it’s just adding up for a bit of a stinker. Figueroa is having a hell of a time landing anything at all, Holloway backing up and jabbing some. Teddy is stuck on his “location, location, location” real estate vibe tonight. He’s getting more Bill Walton-y by the year.

Ugh, this fight stinks. There’s really no getting around it. They’ve killed a crowd that was up for everything before this. Nobody’s landing clean, Holloway is laying back and waiting on Frankie now, and Figueroa, being so short, can’t really get inside. When he tries, Holloway just grabs him. THROW THE FUCKING JAB, HOLLOWAY! There’s some work with Frankie trapped on the ropes, and then the camera freezes so if there was a KO in the final 10 seconds, we missed it! Doubt it though.
