John McCain has appealed to President Obama to pardon Jack Johnson for the heinous crime of being a black man with a white woman.

Folks,
I live a good 20 miles south of where Jack Johnson was offed in an auto crash in 1946. He was killed on North Main Street in Franklinton, N.C. after being refused indoor service at a hostile diner…. Jack Johnson and his friend (Who was not killed in the crash later on) were told they had to eat out-back on the porch….. Jack Johnson became pissed at the notion and stormed out of the diner and into his car, where he floored the gas peddle and hauled ass down the road before losing control at high speed in a turn and slamming into a pole…..
A few years ago, some folks in the small town there wanted a statue erected of Jack Johnson, but apparently the Redneck’s who operate Franklinton fully give a rats ass…… Nothing has been done…. Not even a goddamn marker…….. Peace….

Jack Johnson was on his way from New Orleans to New York back in ’46 to catch the rematch between Joe Louis and Billy Conn when he was killed in North Carolina in his car crash……. He never made the rematch……. Hmmmm… You know, I forgot where the buried Jack Johnson….. I gotta look that up…… I wonder if it was his home state of Texas.?.? Hmmmm… I wonder…….

"The Great White Hope" is okay at best....
James Earl Jones was great as Jack, but the friggin’ film from ‘70 could’ve been a whole lot better……. The fight scenes bit the bone, and the story strays a tad… Still, it was kool….. I do review the flick 2 to 3 X a year……….
Hollywood needs a NEW film on Johnson……. NOW!!!

" heinous crime of being a black man with a white woman." Uh, no, not actually. He was open and honest about aiding a women who opened a whore house back east. He was guilty under the Mann Act, which was NOT passed just to “get” Jack Johnson. If white people were out to “get” JJ, he would have been shot or hung, or worse. But he wasn’t because he was liked by more (white) people than people in the 21st century would lead you to believe. There are hundreds of photos in existence showing JJ with white men (and yes, women) in bars, in training, on the streets of Europe etc and they are all smiling and likeing the guy because was a very interesting person. And a hell of a lot of fun, obviously.
