That is one thing I like about Showtime is that they put boxing sometimes out of the blue on their channels.

Both come to fight . Gurrerero is a top prospect for certain. I have seen him figh many times and I have seen Jesse fight in Maryland. Tough guys.

I coached against Fernando in HS
Dude was quick, and cut more weight than anybody I ever saw.

El Harrak BARELY survives the first round
Knocked down twice and looked pretty hurt. didn’t really do much of anything before then either. Lane didn’t look spectacular either, but he was accurate and he was active.

It's intriguing to me
I figure either it ends in a vicious knockout, or it’s a really boring fight where DeMarco uses his reach to fight backwards all night.

Not that it hasn't been mentioned a thousand times
But Porter was Pacquiao’s main sparring partner against Cotto. He was a middleweight as an amateur, but he’d still be better off dropping one more weight to welterweight, IMO. He’s about the same size as Timothy Bradley, though a bit more broad.

Porter-Patterson Round 1
Porter comes out very aggressive to start. Lunges in for a few combos. Patterson tries to feint and jab, but Porter doesn’t bite and nails him with a big right hand. Every time Porter is in range, he’s just throwing punches in bunches, and he’s landing a good number of them too. Porter is circling around, and when he throws straight punches, he’s able to locate. His more winding power shots are a bit more wild, but it was a good round for Porter.

Porter-Patterson Round 2
Porter with more boxing on the outside, landing the jab at will despite being the much shorter man. Patterson lands a nice left hook, first solid punch he’s really landed tonight. Patterson seems to be getting his gloves up better now and is blocking some of Porter’s punches. Solid combination by Porter on the inside, but Patterson doesn’t seem phased. Porter closes it out with a few nice right hooks over the top.

Farhood mentions that Porter may consider moving to welter. I think his body can handle it, and it’s a good move if he can get there without draining too much.
Porter is just pounding this guy. Landing pretty much at will. A lot of the shots snap his head a little, but none of them actually seem to hurt him. Patterson with a cut over his right eye. Patterson has a 5 inch reach disadvantage, but his punches from the outside get there sooner every time.

From this point on, I’d just assume Porter is dominating unless I say otherwise.

The first knockdown was big, and the fight was stopped after Porter swarmed Patterson seconds after he got up.

Guerrero and Nicklow were amateur foes
I’m sure they’ll mention it about 100 times, but Guerrero beat Nicklow three times in the ams, Nicklow beat Guerrero twice.

As a HS wrestler, the knock on Fernando was his gas tank (and his weight cuts)
and it’s been somewhat interesting to watch him as a boxer be known for his ability to push pace. He was definitely the quickest kid I ever coached against. How big a test should this be for him?

Nicklow isn’t proven as a pro, but gave him problems as an amateur. Never seen him before myself.

Guerrero vs. Nicklow Rd 1
Guerrero starts out standing on the outside and jabbing. Not something I’m used to seeing from him too much. nicklow finally gets inside and throws a couple of hooks to the body. Guerrero is throwing his jabs on the outside, but not landing much. Nicklow is getting inside and nailing him to the body. Now Guerrero starts to docus on the inside as well. Uppercut by Fernando misses. Nicklow blocks and counters a hook by Guerrero.
Nicklow switches southpaw, and immediately Guerrero starts to be able to find him. Nicklow switches back, and it’s more glancing shots by Guerrero and body counters by Nicklow.
I’m probably going against the grain on this, but I’m giving the round to Nicklow. Guerrero didn’t really land much of anything, even though he was more aggressive, and Nicklow landed quite a few good shots to the body.

Guerrero-Nicklow Rd 2
Guerrero jabbing on the outside. Lands a nice uppercut up the middle when Nicklow gets inside. Guerrero starting to put his punches together a bit more. Nicklow doing a lot of dancing on the outside, but when Guerrero drops his guard a bit, he comes inside and throws some body punches. Guerrero comes back with a few body shots of his own. Nicklow shoeshines a bit, but it all misses. Guerrero with a BIG right hook that nearly spins Nicklow’s head around in a circle and seemed to wobble him a bit. With Nicklow recovering, the punches he’s throwing no longer have much zing on them. Guerrero with a couple of hooks to close out the round. Guerrero’s been a bit less aggressive this fight than usual, which I guess is a sign of maturity.

Guerrero-Nicklow Rd 3
Guerrero moving forward behind a jab, feinting, trying to open Nicklow. Guerrero with a couple of big right hands. Nicklow counters him with a right hand of his own that backs him off a bit. Nicklow fighting backing up again, and as Nicklow shells up and moves to the side, he gets nailed over and over again to the body. Guerrero has Jessie up on the ropes and is unloading punches, but most of them are missing. Nicklow counters with a right hand.
Guerrero keeps backing Nicklow to the ropes, where he shells up and occasionally counters. Guerrero has started showing a good uppercut. Nicklow is proving he’s a tough guy and is firing back combos. Reminds me a LOT of Jesse Brinkley. Anyway, another fairly wide Guerrero round, now that he’s opened up and is being more accurate

Guerrero-Nicklow Round 4
The two trade in the middle of the ring, and Guerrero catches Nicklow with a counter right hand that sends Nicklow to the ground. Nicklow covering up, trying to counter, and now trying to war back, but Nicklow is easily getting the worst of it. Nicklow has lost his feet completely at this point. The two guys are battling – Guerrero is punched out, and Nicklow is out on his feet, but the two are still throwing punches!! And then, out of nowhere, another stoppage. Nicklow was out on his feet, but no worse than he had been for about 45 seconds.
