British BLH Get-Together?

I hope I'm not over-stepping any boundaries here, but I thought it might be a cool idea to have a get-together of BLH posters sometime in 2010, maybe meet and go to a big fight sometime in the middle of the year?
I know Brian Brock is based in the UK, as is FCF, Drunken Cutman, and others.
Maybe if the Haye/Ruiz fight goes ahead in Britain, we could go and watch that? Have a night of boxing and beer, and a right laugh too? Otherwise, any large(ish) fight would do, but a Heavyweight Title fight would be awesome.
Anyone else interested? (I would suggest a larger scale gathering, but since we are spread across the globe...)
Anyone I haven't named who is from the UK, feel free to put your names forward, the fact I haven't mentioned you is down to forgetfulness, not a lack of willing on my part!!
This could be a really good way of getting to know each other better, putting some names to faces, etc. Plus we'd be able to guarantee a crazy RBR!! :)

Stuff like this happens all over SBN sites, especially in the team sports. Folks put together plans to go to games, etc. It’s one of our strengths by design.

Tyson Fury cards might not be ideal, I’ve heard bad stuff about the crowds from mates who have gone. One should remember Fury is a gypsy, and a lot of his fans/followers are too.
Audley Harrison cards, from what I’ve heard, are overpriced mainly due to the perception that his name carries commercial value.
Tried to get tickets to the most recent Prizefighter, but then realized I couldn’t do the date. They aren’t bad value though.
Any other preferences, suggestions?

Khan fighting another unworthy challenger is a no go
but if he fights Bradley or Malignaggi in britain that would be top of my list. Haye against Ruiz would be cool but it’s almost worth holding out for a bigger fight, like say a Klitschko.

Bradley has said he will go to the UK
to fight Khan and the fight defeintiely makes more money here. Hatton mentioned the possibility of fighting Khan yesterday but who knows if that will ever happen.

Also, whether or not Bradley would do it isn't the deciding factor....
If Khan is looking for more exposure in the US (he says he is) then the fight will probably go there.

If he fights either Klit, it'll be in Germany, I should think.

The best Lionel Richie story I have is this;
I was persuaded by a former g/f to go with her to a sex clinic, as she had been persuaded by a friend. I wasn’t being tested, but she was (along with the friend, obviously), and wanted moral support. So, we walk into the clinic at ten minutes before the annointed time, with me having wound them both up something chronic about the procedures I’d “heard” take place when women get tested…. With them in vicious harpy/really nervous girl mode, we walk through the big double doors to the waiting room where there is a TV in the corner, and MTV is on. I notice what is being played, lose all semblence of dignity and laugh uproariously, the other girl scarpers back out the door embarrassed at my “inappropriate” reaction, and my g/f stared daggers at me before going after her friend…

I think you mean Marvin – but still, that’s real class. I worked at a Job Centre for a few month over Christmas about 12 years ago, and there was piped music in the place. Right, so what's the plan, guys?
Do we wait to see what’s going on with David Haye before making any further plans? One good thing there is that he tends to arrange fights well in advance, so we’d all be able to make sure we were free.
On the other hand, we could just pick a card and play it by ear.

Great Idea
A get together is a great idea, buddy. I’m based in UK and would be very game to go to a world title fight involving Haye or Khan – especially Khan Bradley. I also agree that an unworthy opponent for Khan is a no-go. I’ve been to see Khan twice, Graham Earl and Dmitriy Salita. Not that I was devastated, it was exhilerating, but a bit of an anti-climax. Thank god for the Kevin Mitchell v Breidis Prescott fight on the undercard. That was a great performance by Mitchell.

Money is an issue here….
I don’t know any way of covering my own ass legally if it’s me that buys the tickets, and someone doesn’t pay me. For people I know and talk to every day, this is less of an issue, but this is a bit of a tricky situation, the more I think about it.
Basically, there is no sure-fire way to be 100% on this. It’s going to be a matter of trust one way or the other, either the guys that want to go trust me eenough to put the money in my account beforehand, or I trust them enough to book the tickets and hope I get my money. My issue would be that I have done this before, for holidays and pool comps, and been made to wait months before getting the money, and some people simply refused to pay, meaning I took a hit for hundreds of pounds overall.
Any ideas about how this can be done in a way that is fair to all parties would be welcome.
