Tim Starks at Queensberry just said he’d slot him about #9 in the heavyweight division (better resume than Dimentrenko), with the skills to move higher. Unfortunately, he’s a complete non-entity, and too big a risk for anyone to fight.
I had him in the top 10 for a good while, but dropped him mostly for inactivity. He might slot back in tomorrow.

Arreola coming in with a double jab. Lampley tried to start being nicer and say he “expected 263 to look more jiggly than this.” He’s pretty damn jiggly. His back is moving.
Minto gets knocked back by a right hand. This isn’t going to last very long. Minto doesn’t have the firepower. Arreola mostly jabbing. He looks about as calm as he could possibly look. Right to the body by Arreola, right to the head clips Minto. Arreola pushing Minto around with his jab.

Minto looks like he wants to make this a brawl, but he’ll lose that, and I think he knows it too. Minto boxes like a football player. Nasty left hook counter by Arreola, Minto doesn’t budge. Minto comes forward with some offense, nothing really landing. HARD RIGHT HAND by Arreola. Minto with a nice right of his own, Arreola gets one in return. Minto is bleeding over his right eye. Arreola caught Minto there toward the end.

Martinez gets Williams again coming in with a short right. Heads are banging together a fair amount. Williams pumping the jab, mostly to distract and set up everything else. Sharp jab from Martinez. And another.
Right hook Williams! Looks like Martinez’s gas tank is going to be tested the rest of the way. Right hook Williams again, then he ducks under a left from Martinez. Martinez missing in close. The tide has turned in this one, but it’s by no means a clinic or anything. Williams is just out-fighting him.
Williams with a left, and Martinez comes back with a better one. Now they’re trading again, and Martinez puts on a slipping show. Awesome stuff. Williams with some scoring blows.

Williams’ jab is such a funny thing to watch. It almost has a hitch in its giddy-up, his arms are so long. Williams starting to dig in now. Martinez needs to maybe adjust as Williams has.
Slower round with both guys looking a bit tired. Good counter left by Williams. Uppercut by Martinez. Williams is making Martinez miss a ton of his shots now. This has been a tremendous adjustment by Williams, and he’s showing another wrinkle with that. He can adapt in-fight now.
Right hook by Martinez lands, but he’s landing that less and less, and Williams has taken control of this fight.

Williams starting to throw long shots again as he did early, which was getting him picked apart by Martinez, but Sergio doesn’t seem to have the energy left to really drill him when he’s open. Martinez is oddly doing nothing. I mean his hands are generally at his side, but his arms look heavy now.

Way to ruin a FOTY candidate
Awesome fight but ruined by that BS score. Scorecards like that have a further effect of diminishing what went on in the fight. Disrespectful to the sport.
It wasn’t ruined. It doesn’t change the fight you saw one bit.

The fight was great. But the fact that there are questions afterward does take away from it.
By diminishing, I meant that someone looking at the scorecard about a year from now would have no idea of how close and well fought the fight was based on that score.

Agreed. I hate that hoo ‘en horns crap as well. Noiw then, I had it 115-113 Williams in a fight that could have gone either way. Julie’s card was close to her dad’s and I had no argument with either one.
