One Filipino's impassioned plea for the electorate to not vote for Manny Pacquiao. The article provides an interesting glimpse into Philippines politics for those who are unfamiliar with it.

That was quite interesting
I had my doubts about Pacquiao’s political credentials and now I’m pretty much sure that he is silly to be going into politics.

Same here. Athletes generally make poor statesmen in every democratic country, including the United States. The few exceptions entered politics only after first achieving success in other fields after retiring from sports. It makes sense that those difficulties would only be magnified in a poorer country with more corrupt politics.
The only problem with this argument is that if everyone followed his advice, politics would be even more corrupt than it is, because no one worthwhile would even try to run.

Meh, I read similar things when FPJ ran for office. Articles like this just add to the grandeur of political machines. Just look at Chicago. It wasn’t the first or only political machine in America, but it’s the last one standing because people talk about it in such an “It’s Chinatown” fashion that it’s ridiculous.

Hey, Briackhaus, FYI again
The writer, Rafe Bartolomew, is NOT a Filipino. He’s actually an American, who lived shortly in the Philippines (mainly for research) because of his fascination of many things there (Filipinos’ passion for basketball, primarily). But it’s more impressive, because he hit the mark.
Peace. =)

I don't want to disrespect anybody or anything. California is going to decide on Wednesday and then whichever way California decides, various state commissions will decide whichever way they think is best."
