But these won’t count for the competition thing. Fights aren’t big enough, card isn’t big enough.
Give me Prescott in the third (this, as I’ve said before, is pretty much as early a KO as I’ll call), Gamboa in the 7th.
If they both win in good health they’ll return on Shobox on April 3. Hopefully Gamboa will finally fight someone that can punch and take shots. 13 fights in is a little early for “finally” talk but for me he’s not learning anything from bashing guys like Roger Gonzalez. It’s not that he doesn’t HAVE things to learn, it’s just he seems content to glide by on God given athletic ability.

"can take a punch"
Half the guys he’s faced so far people thought could take a punch, he just hits hard. Seeger lasted 8 rounds with Ponce de Leon, who’s thought to be a murderous puncher, and had a 85% KO rate. Ramirez had never been down before their fight. De Jesus had never been down before (though Ramirez hurt him when they fought) and had a high KO rate. Together his opponents have a KO rate around 60%, which isn’t below average, and combined they had relatively few KO losses before facing him.
Honestly, I do think they’re still fighting him against pretty good opposition, given where he is in his career. Most of the guys who are skilled and can punch and can take a punch hold belts.
Yes, he’s relying on his natural talent, but don’t expect that to change at this point. Technically, he’s no different of a fighter now than he was in his second pro fight. He would have shown some progress by now if he was going to show any progress. Still, with his kind of talent, he can coast by on the talent. Roy did it for a decade.

Maybe I want to get aggressive because he fights on TV so frequently and it’s always the same level guy. Even though I’m aware he’s only 13 fights in, it feels like it’s time for him to step up to the big stage. It probably isn’t, realistically.

I'll say no
Estrada has a dodgy chin, I say he KOs Estrada before Estrada lands a solid punch on him. Nice experienced foe to get though. They didn’t need to pit him against anyone dangerous, yet he’s still fighting a guy who’s been fighting at 130 for the last year, has a 60% KO percentage and has faced a lot of championship level boxers.

Talking about him controlling the distance. For such a tall guy, he’s better on the inside than the outside most of the time, and he rarely controls the distance, despite his height. Also, his workrate will probably be lower at 160.

That Tommy Morrison “Modified Muay Thai” fight was HORRIBLE as well. There was a video on Youtube for a few hours before the promoter took it down. CLEARLY a fixed fight, Morrisson’s fake titties, errrr, pec implants flapping around, and the KO was WWF style.

Prescott coming out throwing. Wide left hooks and huge rights. Toledo firing back. This is mad sloppy.
Prescott with a chopping right, glances a left hook. Prescott winging shots to the body. Prescott is just throwing KO punches. Not landing a lot, but not totally crazy either, and he’s not allowing Toledo to do anything at all. Stiff left from Prescott snaps Toledo’s head back, but the right follow-up misses. That was preceded with a body shot, too. Prescott DRILLS Toledo with a right hand after Humberto switches to southpaw. This is a mauling and it won’t last long.

Prescott is bleeding on the inside corner of his right eye.
Toledo seems to be unsure of what exactly he wants to do. Ideally he’d come inside, but Prescott is making that real hard. Now Toledo does find a bit of an opening and lands a couple decent shots. Toledo warned for shots to the back of the head.
Uppercut on the advancing Toledo landed by Prescott, and now a couple nice jabs. Prescott has been wild and sort of out of his rhythm this round. Toledo made it closer this round.

Prescott comes out looking for more one-shot knockout punches. He could really stand to combo punch because his accuracy is rather shit in this style. Toledo ain’t Khan-chinned. Toledo is firing back when he can, and this is a bit of a firefight. An ugly firefight, but a firefight. They’re letting the leather fly.
Prescott has a horrible habit of running with his hand back and getting tagged. Better puncher makes him pay.

Toledo’s now trying to rough Prescott up and frustrate him. He’s using his head, which is where the blood came from. Borderline low shot by Prescott, he’s warned. Looked fine to me. Right on the belt line. Prescott flicking his jab, setting up nothing yet. And he eats a right hand for it. Left hook Prescott stings Toledo, whose nose is bleeding. This is getting pretty nasty.

Prescott has so much to work on. He gets chased into the corner again and takes a shot, and now he’s firing away. He badly misses two haymakers in a row. Hard right from Prescott. Left hook lands. This is a fight that distinctly lacks flow. Toledo has been dirty, Prescott fights a punch at a time. This hasn’t been pretty to say the least. Hardly an exhibition of the sweet science.

I have never liked Casamayor but I think now I appreciate him more given what he accomplished. I doubt that Gamboa will have his type of resume when his career is done.

Toledo comes out on the chase, and he’s definitely more aggressive this round. Prescott lands a few uppercuts along the way. Toledo docked a point for holding behind the head. This fight is as good as over. The last bit of this is a formality.

Ninth round is almsot a standstill at points. Prescott has no reason to risk anything and Toledo has nothing left. He’s tried all he can and all it’s gotten him is knocked down and a point deducted. Toledo running at Prescott, basically pushes him over.

I think Prescott will have trouble as he moves up. If guys aren’t completely overwhelmed by his power, he will definitely struggle.
