John v Juarez scoring (w/poll)
How did you score Chris John v Rocky Juarez?
Each of the judges had it a 114 - 114 draw. Just want to get a gauge here.
I wouldn't have to write this filler if I could post a poll in a fanshot, but alas I must. Oh yes I must. Wow this is a royal pain in the rear end. I don't want to bias the poll by giving my thoughts here.

I really enjoy voting but only saw the last six so I voted for Juarez based on that ridiculous basis. Sorry to f the poll

I voted once.
I had it 116-112 for John. I think any card from 114-114 to 116-112 John is defensible. 3 cards on the low end seems a bit fishy.

John easily
Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.

I feel dirty saying it since I have ragged on John alot, but he won clearly in my eyes. I am just going to hate on him for not coming to the states earlier on. He is clearly world class but as settled for fighting mandatories in Asia.

to be fair
He’s also settled for more money to do that. He’s a rock star in Indonesia. Over here he’s Steven Luevano, the Asian version.

And it's not like he's Zsolt Erdei either
He’s faced a number of legitimate challengers, 5 former titlists, 4 guys who were ranked top 10 at the time he fought them, and one guy who is P4P.

Draw
114-114 is NOT a crazy score or a home-cooked robbery. I predicted a Chris John UD, but I scored the fight even, and I wouldn’t at all be surprised if two of the three judges cards looked identical to mine. I think its fine to disagree about the scoring, particularly with so many close rounds. But to say that John was dominant in this fight and got cheated out of a win… well that just doesn’t wash with me. He wasn’t dominant and his punches looked less and less effective as the bout wore on, perhaps because Rocky was finding the body more and more.

He wasn’t dominant
Well he look didn’t great if you compare how Barrera and Marquez fights vs Juarez when they routed him in previous fights. I had some time to think about it and isnt a great perfromance if you compare him to his what his peers have done vs Juarez.

they did it at 130
Rocky’s a better fighter at 126.

I don't think he was dominant
I do think he won the fight, though.

overall I wasn’t that impressed with John. Again, I didn’t see the first 6 rounds, but he doesn’t appear to be a huge puncher, he isn’t amazingly fast and doesn’t have great D or movement. He seems to be a good, high output fighter. He may have won, but narrowly beating Rocky Juarez, even the best rocky Juarez I’ve ever seen, isn’t a great accomplishment.

The second half of the fight
He fought nothing like what I’m used to seeing from him. Usually he’s more of a counterpuncher / defense first fighter with an accurate jab and the occasional combo, but it sounded like his corner was pushing him to be more aggressive. What he did rounds 1 – 6 was pretty standard Chris John.

I had it for John by one round. I can see how a draw could of got scored and tho no-one likes them im more ok with that than i would of been if Rocky won

Illness?
Having watched the fight i thought John looked great 1-6 and then faded badly! Fair play to Jaurez, but i wonder if the illness that was reported before the weigh in had anything to do with how he faded? All he had to do to win that fight conviningly was to keep moving!

maybe
But Juarez also turned it up big and John might have gone a little faster paced than necessary early on. Rocky definitely hurt him in the later rounds, but he’s a legit puncher at 126 too.

I had it 115-113 for John giving the final 3 rounds to Juarez. You had to figure home court may have given rocky a round or two so the decision wasn’t a shocker.

I had it as a draw
Great fight, I really couldn’t take the win away from either fighter. I really hope they do it again. I’ve really enjoyed most of the televised cards this year, and John/Juarez II would make a great addition in a few months.
