There is no way that Hopkins vs Adamek would/could be PPV in my opinion.

1… Me like alot
2…. Love it if it is one HBO WCB
3…. Like it
4…. Like it
5…. Like it.

I’d pay for an “economy priced” PPV if it had a decent undercard.

Oooo… except for the last one,but I like angulo regardless.

good stuff indeed.

hopkins is going to school adamek.

it would be really fun if its at the prudential center. adameks people will come out and its close enough for us philly people to go.

if Adamek loses at Prudential, which I expect against B-Hop, there may literally be riots in the ring.

fun times for everyone

MSG is really no further away from Philly than the Prudential Center

Don’t forget that Penn Station is INSIDE Madison Square Garden. Just hop on the Amtrak from Philly to MSG, no need to drive at all.

yea i know.

i think if its at msg the tickets prices would be a bloated just because its at msg and would keep people away from making the trip.

Good list, particularly excited to see 2 & 3. B-Hop can’t keep on doing it, can he? Can he???

i’m starting to think b-hop is immortal

me too. But, one of these days the man just has to get old. I do think it’s important that he didn’t start boxing until he was about 20(I think that’s the right age). He just didn’t take the early abuse that many other fighters have. But still, he’s been competing for 20 plus years. One of these fights we’re going to see him fade. I thought we were starting to see it against Winky, but we weren’t.

by lcollins1 on Mar 18, 2009 10:44 AM EDT up reply actions

Hopkins doesn’t believe in the whole “aging” thing. Plus anyway, he;‘s a defenseive fighter, so he’s gonna get out pointed maybe, maybe even hit around alittle, but not beat up, b/c that’s not his style on his last fight. he doens’t need his firepower to keep him active. plus he said himself his 20+ defneses at middleweight were agst bums and he never got hurt once which extended his life whereas if he fought like Arturo Gatti his career would be short. Pc!

Hopkins

I just cant bet against Hopkins again. And this time ill route for him. Besides i think he would run rings round Adamek.

Abraham v Forrest

Anyone else think that sounds a bizarre one?

Forrest Jnr middleweight v Abraham middleweight struggling to make weight and talking of moving up!

by Big_al79 on Mar 18, 2009 3:16 PM EDT reply actions

Yes

Plus, with Abraham being the champ, Forrest probably won’t make as much money as he would if he faced Martinez. It makes perfect sense for Abraham though. He’s trying to build up his name in the US so he has leverage for a Pavlik fight. Other than waiting to see who wins the Winky-Williams fight (which is still a ways off, so the timing probably doesn’t work), there probably isn’t a bigger US name available at the moment.

this is kind of like a glorified version of pavlik vs. sergio mora…. abraham vs. a higher level jr. middleweight and maybe winner faces each other? mora vs. forrest 3! hahah sike.. pc!

So is bhop ever going to face chad dawson? or mikel kessler, or rematch winky wright?

by cylee1180 on Mar 18, 2009 7:14 PM EDT reply actions

No

What would be in it for him?

So is bhop ever going to face chad dawson? or mikel kessler, or rematch winky wright?

1. Dawson’s young, and Hopkins knows that a young guy like Chad can give him trouble. He’s a southpaw with some pop, bigger than Hopkins naturally, and also has no name in America or anywhere else. He’s a hell of a good young fighter but HBO is rematching him with Antonio Tarver for a reason. More people still know Tarver.

2. Kessler is a 168-pound fighter with no name in America.

3. He already beat Winky Wright.

Adamek is a live draw and has a legit championship at cruiserweight, which is a draw for Bernard.

-i think he ko’s dawson. dawson is good, but not that good. very vulnerable. fight most likely wont happen.
-kessler is a no name in america but would give him his toughest fight in my opinion. i wouldn’t mind seeing it but will not happen, ever.
-no interest in seeing him and winky again.

Kessler is too orthodox to be a threat to Hopkins, IMO

If Kessler held the lineal title or the Ring belt, I could see it happening, but not after Hopkins moves up to cruiserweight, even if goes in at a fighting weight around 185 (which is what he said he’d do). If he does that, I doubt he can get back down to 168 at his age.

I think Kessler would have a good shot in theory. Strong, disciplined, hung in with Calzaghe as well as anyone ever did. But then again Bernard might just mug it out.
