Rolando Reyes to replace Casamayor on April 4
Lightweight Lightning is reset. The Ring reports that Rolando Reyes has been officially named as Joel Casamayor's replacement for the April PPV, meaning the card now looks like this:
Edwin Valero (24-0, 24 KO) v. Antonio Pitalua (46-3, 40 KO)
Michael Katsidis (24-2, 20 KO) v. Jesus Chavez (44-4, 30 KO)
Carlos Hernandez (43-7-1, 24 KO) v. Vicente Escobedo (19-1, 12 KO)
Julio Diaz (36-4, 26 KO) v. Rolando Reyes (30-4-2, 19 KO)
Good short-notice replacement for Casamayor, and still a pretty attractive card. No doubt it's taken real hits losing Jorge Barrios and Casa, but I'm still quite looking forward to the event.

With Casa and Barrios pulling out
I wish they would have rejiggered a fight or two so that two of the name fighters are fighting each other.

me too
Katsidis-Diaz would’ve been nice. I figure Katsidis-Valero would be asking too much.

Valero-Pitalua is sanctioned as an interim title fight
Sadly, so there’s no way that one is changing unless one of them also gets injured.

This card has lost a little luster but
I am still going and it will be my second live card ever so that’s nice. Would have been better if I could have made it to the Diaz-Marquez fight though. There has actually been a lot of good fights in the past couple months within 3 hour drive from San Antonio. So hopefully I will get to see some more live boxing.

Texas
I’m hoping the fans down there turn out for this one and Texas can keep building a nice little rep as a boxing state. The Diaz cards in Houston have been outstanding, but those have a hometown guy. When they put Vazquez-Marquez II down there it flopped, as we all know, but part of that was certainly horrible promotion.

I just wish Texas would take the health of the fighters more seriously
Their qualifications to fight in the state are a joke. On the bright side, the fact that their qualifications are a joke means that Valero can fight there, despite having suffered a hematoma.

There were like 7 people there to witness the best fight of 2007. Horrible, horrible promotion by Shaw, Sycuan, Golden Boy and Showtime.

Good to hear
Can’t say I’m terribly familiar with the lightweight division, but I’m happy that they’re moving relatively quickly to patch up the card. I’ll be there at the event, so hopefully we can be pleasantly surprised with some good fighting despite the loss in starpower.
I’ve seen Pitalua recently, and hopefully his fight against Valero should be exciting.
