I know it's a big fight

But anybody know if they are going to keep the cost of this one down, or is that just wishful thinking? I’m sure it will still be in the $50 range but just wanted to check. Thanks

head to a bar

check the sports bars in your area. any good one will be showing it. probably a 5 or 10 buck cover charge.

by sonofapsycho on Apr 29, 2009 9:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

It’s $49.99. Honestly, I expected $59.99.

Is there a full list of the undercards yet?

I know of the Danny Jacobs fight but thats it.

by Full Throttle on Apr 29, 2009 10:08 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Matvey Korobov vs. Rodrigo Aguiar, 4 rounds, middleweights
Erislandy Lara vs. Chris Gray, 4 rounds, junior middleweights

Off TV:
Mike Alvarado vs. Juaquin Gallardo, 10 rounds, junior welterweights
Abner Mares vs. Jonathan Perez, 10 rounds, junior featherweights
Bernabe Concepcion vs. Yogli Herrera, 10 rounds, featherweights
Matthew Hatton vs. Ernesto Zepeda, 8 rounds, junior middleweights
Omar Chavez vs. Tyler Ziolowski, 4 rounds, junior welterweights
Joe Murray vs. Missael Nunez, 4 rounds, lightweights

Going question crazy here but, what’s the general expectations for these undercards. Nothing is for sure but I don’t want to pay for another Pac-man/ Delahoya undercard repeat, I’ll just head to the bar.I’m familiar with a few of the guys but not all of them.

by Full Throttle on Apr 29, 2009 10:31 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Go to the bar then, I’d say. Jacobs will drill Walker, Gaudet isn’t a real test for Soto, and Korobov and Lara are in straight up showcases against guys they’ll rip. If they wind up with another hour of downtime like they did for Oscar-Manny, I’m going to flip my shit.

FWIW

I’m still pissed they didn’t find a way to make Matthew Hatton vs. Bobby Pacquiao on the undercard. It would have been cheap as hell to put on, an entertaining subplot, and probably an entertaining fight as well considering their natures. I realize Matthew is a lot bigger than Bobby, but is one brother can do it…

Yeah, but Jacobs can thump and he’s SO much taller than Walker. I hope he puts up a fight but I’m not terribly keen on expecting one.

So we got 2-4 rounders,an 8 rounder and a 12 round fight undercard with guys going in against weak opposition. Alright, kudos to the PPV gods. I’m betting we only get 6-7 rounds of pre-fight action. Hopefully I’m wrong and they turn out to be decent fights.

Gaudet might last a while. I don’t think it’ll be fun.

by SC on Apr 30, 2009 3:49 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Gaudet's loss was a KO1

I wouldn’t count on that one going very long either.

Still seems like a dumb move to me to replace Luevano-Concepcion with a couple of 4-rounders, at least not without upgrading the opponents.

what we used to get in boxing ppvs

that undercard makes me ill.

made me think of one card from back in the good ol days of showtime’s set ppv’s.

one of my favorites was revenge: the rematches. for 39 bucks we got:

randall vs. chavez 2
terry norris vs. simon brown 2
gerarld mcclellen vs. julian jackson 2
azumah nelson vs. jesse james leigh 2

all world title fights featuring some of the best boxers in the world at the time. also a handful of hall of famers. and that was just the ppv portion of the card. also on the card was the great ricardo lopez whos without a doubt the best fighter i have seen in my lifetime and a good womans bout with christy martin and laura serreno.

amazing the difference between that card and the junk thats on the pacman card. also amazing how that was 15 years ago. doesn’t seem that long.
