I'll RBR Bradley-Holt
I might RBR Povetkin-Estrada as well, if I can get a good feed.
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Evidently
Jean Pascal just knocked out Pablo Nievas in another KO of the year type. I’ll see if I can track it down. Don’t rate Nievas highly though, he’s been beaten by some scrubs, and he didn’t win a second of his fight against Mundine.

that’s a shame. I don’t drink anymore, but if I was I wouldn’t be drinking that. If your drinking Mexican beer, go with Dos Equis, better than Corona and anythings better than T
There was a conversation yesterday
about how I’d never tried Tecate before, but I should because they sponsor the fights. I generally like Dos Equis Amber a lot.
Anyway, not RBRing Sosnowski vs Pianeta, which is a stinker.

I'm a mega fight nerd
I’d be posting over on BE on their liveblog for the DREAM event too… I have this bad habit of getting banned from there though. I seem to do better when talking boxing

I’ve never checked them out, so I have no idea if they’re as good as Bloody Elbow though.

BE is by far the best
I’m sure the writers respected my opinion enough… But I have a hard time dealing with the super ProUFC, Pro Dana crowd there and I get a little vitriolic with them. All Dana White is… Is a white Don King with no hair and no murder raps on him.

It was the worst of times.

Yeah, I don't get that either
Pianeta finally looks like something more than a Pinata this round. If he fought like this the whole fight, he might be something decent.

IMO
This final round should decide the fight in the Sosnowski-Pianeta fight. The commentators think the Pole has already won it.
Vogt early, Vogt often.
It's a sad state of the heavyweight division
When one of the major up-and-comers just got his ass kicked by Zuri Lawrence.
Anyway, it’s the past round of Pianeta-Sosnowski, the Povetkin fight probably starts in 25 minutes or so.
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Sosnowski won the last round
He was actually trying, Pianeta wasn’t doing much. Much better fight than the last few big heavyweight fights, but it still wasn’t a great fight. Anyway, Sosnowski should get the victory.
I have no idea how the commentators do their scoring. Their commentary seems completely off to me.

I tried the stream links from this post, and they don’t seem to be showing the fight. Anyone got a good stream?

And we're on
A lot of feeling out early. Estrada keeps pumping out a quick show me jab, but isn’t actually landing any of them. Povetkin sitting in the pocket, occasionally jabbing to the body, but looks like he’s waiting for a good opening. Every time the fight gets inside, Povetkin is able to land one or two good punches. Now Povetkin is starting to put punches better a bit. Estrada probably landed twice as much, but Povetkin certainly landed the harder punches.
Povetkin 10-9
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Round 2
Estrada putting punches together well, but most of them are coming up shots. He see,ms to be overly weary of getting countered. A bit of wrestling, and Povetkin is able to pop Estrada with a few shots to the body. Estrada changing up his stance a bit, as Povetkin was having an easy time landing the right hand on him with counters. Povetkin lands a couple of hard shots, and Estrada taunts him with a “hit me” kind of gesture. Estrada is really getting killed to the body every time he steps in, although when he stays on the outside it’s more of an even fight.
Povetkin 20-18
Commentators have it 19-19
Vogt early, Vogt often.
This is worse
Than Vit vs Gomez though
Gimme 1 round!
by ItBurnzWhenIP on Apr 4, 2009 5:49 PM EDT up reply actions
Round 3
A lot of posturing early. Estrada seems to be more hesitant in pulling the trigger now. Also, Povetkin has become the aggressor, throwing lots of big right hooks, and landing a fair number of them. Estrada gets back to using the jab, which stops Povetkin from lunching for the time being. Povetkin comes inside, lands a couple of hard punches, but Estrada takes it right back to him and lands three of his own.
This fight is developing a real pattern. They’re on the outside, Estrada flicks a jab jab straight combo, he flicks the jab a few more times, Povetkin throws a hard punch or two, then he lunges in, grabs Estrada and lands two or three more to the body. This has happened no less than 10 times already.
Povetkin 30-27
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Round 4
Povetkin landing the overhand right with more regularity now. Estrada is landing a lot of punches still, but they’re like Calzaghe punches, almost more like slaps than punches. To Estrada’s credit, he’s still coming forward and giving his all. Now Estrada has started throwing some bigger punches to the body. Povetkin is tiring out a bit, not doing anything in the clinch now, whie Estrada looks as fresh as he did in the first round. Povetkin throws one or two punches, then clinches. Big combo for Estrada out of the clinch, although they were more slaps. Really close round, probably Estrada’s best of the night. I’ll give it to him barely. He did manage to land a few authoritative punches that round.
Povetkin 39-37
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Aight well
I am giving it two more rounds… bore fest.
"Count on us! We sponsored Margarito for several years." - CEMEX [Mexico's largest cement company.]
Povetkin comes forward, lands a nice jab combo, lands a nice left hook as well. Estrada lands a big shot, which actually seemed to wobble Povetkin a bit. Estrada coming forward, throwing the jab, with the occasional right following it. Still, every time Estrada gets a little closer, Povetkin manages to hit him with a hard shot or two. Povetkin really starting to look tired now, clinching at almost every opportunity, breathing through his mouth. The ref warns Estrada for low blows. The warning was “heard by the whole arena” according to the commentators, probably because the crowd is making no noise, other than Estrada’s cornermen. Estrada goes back to controlling the outside for a bit, and there’s a nice inside flurry for both fighters to end off the round. I have Estrada close on that one again.
Povetkin 48-47
Vogt early, Vogt often.
The ref is horrible
warning estrada every round for something and has not said a word to Povetkin.
I’m out of here going to see light weight lightning in person
Round 6
Both guys a bit tentative to start the round. Povetkin comes in and lands a nice combo, Estrada comes right back with one of his own. It seems like there are 3 seconds of fighting and 10 seconds of wrestling every time they get broken up, and Povetkin is tired enough that Estrada is starting to win the inside eschanges. Nice square straight from Estrada, but he doesn’t follow it up. Povetkin starting to look like he’s moving through sand, but Estrada’ starting to breathe through his mouth as well. More wrestling. Another very close round, but edge to Estrada, who probably landed twice as much and did have one big punch.
57-57
Vogt early, Vogt often.
They just found those people in Germany
Getting paid to be there. Damn, Why wasn’t I in Germany?!!
"Count on us! We sponsored Margarito for several years." - CEMEX [Mexico's largest cement company.]
Round 7
Povetkin’s arms are slow enough at this point that Estrada’s able to avoid them now, and land one or two of his own counters. Povetkin with a couple of chopping rights to the head, but they don’t seem to do any damage. Now both guys are trying to wrestle, but Povetkin is winning those exchanges again. The ref warns Estrada for no good reason for about the 10th time of the night. Another flurry from both sides in the last 10 seconds, and Povetkin probably stole another close round right there.
Povetkin 67-66
Vogt early, Vogt often.
The Commentator
Just said another competitive round? Maybe he’s watching something we aren’t.
"Count on us! We sponsored Margarito for several years." - CEMEX [Mexico's largest cement company.]
Round 8
Povetkin finally comes in and lands a really nice combo, probably the best punches of the fight. Povetkin seems to have round some energy again, and is stalking Estrada down and landing hard jabs, occasionally following them up with a couple of stronger punches. And now Povetkin’s wind is gone, and they keep wrestling again. Povetkin lands about 2 or 3 good shots off the break, and now Povetkin seems to be landing on Estrada almost at will. Best round for Povetkin of the night.
Povetkin 77-75
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Round 9
Estrada punch punch grab. Estrada punch punch grab. Povetkin punch punch grab. Both guys literally just stand in front of each other and don’t throw anything for like 20 seconds. Povetkin throws out a decent jab. Estrada has now abandoned his jab, and is trying to throw big punches to the body. Back to occasional inside punching and hugging, but at this point, Povetkin is busier than Estrada and, as he has been doing all fight, landing the bigger punches. Estrada doesn’t have KO power, so it’s almost pointless to watch the last round.
Povetkin 87-84
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Round 10
Estrada looks like he’s had the will sucked out of him, and is just looking to survive the last round. Povetkin finally trying harder, and starts going for the KO in the last minute. Estrada is wobbled, Estrada trying to fall into him. Estrada backing up, Estrada holds on, and looks to have his feet back under him again. Every time Povetkin gets close enough to punch, Estrada grabs him. Povetkin lands about 5 or 6 huge punches on the ropes, but Estrada does not fall.
Povetkin 97-93
Povetkin didn’t look ready to take on a Klitschko.
Vogt early, Vogt often.

my god.....heavyweights
I find myself watching so many heavyweight fights now because im just hoping that there will eventually be something to get excited about. I am disappointed every time.
I really just want someone even slightly interesting to come a long in this division.
They dont even have to be great, Just anything remotely encouraging.
I had the stream on in the background, and I could swear I just heard one of the post-fight announcers calling Povetkin the greatest Russian HW in history.
Good lord…
You were not hearing anything
He did say that. This is the same guy that has that grudge with Kellerman.

Yeah
They are last. She literally phoned them in, for god’s sake. She was pretty excited about nailing the VK-Gomez round last time.

On the subject of heavyweights
One of you guys were asking about Mike Perez before (Irish based cuban HW)
He’s got a fight scheduled for the 25th in cork against Javier Mora.
The other 2 cuban fighters over here are also fighting on that card. Luis Garcia is against Nestor Fabian Casanova and Alexei Acosta fights Sergio Victor Caruso.
I think its going to be available on the go fight live site.
good god
I almost feel like doing a RBR on Holy-Dokes. Holy was giving up a ton of weight in the fight, and that wasn’t the only way it looked like one of those old school fights. I counted about ten low blows and for headbutts by the thrid round!
"I want to see ocean. I want to see black people. I want to see palms." - Wladimir Klitschko
Holyfield Dokes R4
The fight so far is about as legal as as an armed robbery of an opium den. Dokes right hand seems like it is magnetized to Holy’s jock strap. Holy circling Dokes like a planet around the sun, pausing only to throw the left hook or to gore Dokes like a ten-point buck.
A series of jab hook combinations sets up a long, romantic hug. Both warriors are tired, and exchange pleasentries from mid-range, Dokes pawing with the left coyly. Holyfield leans in with a three punch combo and eat a short chopper that he seems to enjoy. The bell rings.
"I want to see ocean. I want to see black people. I want to see palms." - Wladimir Klitschko
Holyfield Dokes R5
Isn’t it romantic? The slow dancing is truncated by short, vicious inside business. Holy is pushing his uppercuts, which slower than dump trucks but seem to be reducing Dokes.
Dokes is practically asleep this round, but a quick left hook right cross turns Holy’s lights back on. The round ends with another “borderline low blow”, which, inactuality, was just plain low.
"I want to see ocean. I want to see black people. I want to see palms." - Wladimir Klitschko
this is already a great thread
Big ups.
"If they cut my bald head open, they will find one big boxing glove. That's all I am. I live it." -- Marvin Hagler
Holyfield Dokes R6
The bell rings. Holy shakes the dirt off Dokes with a big overhand right. The clinching is no longer out of exhaustion, but rather a method of getting where they want to be… in Foul Territory. Steele gives a warning.
They exchange well in center ring, and suddenly Holy looks very fresh. Holy loops a right and swallows a counter left hook. This now has the flavor of a blood’n’guts eliminator. They already hate each other.
"I want to see ocean. I want to see black people. I want to see palms." - Wladimir Klitschko
Holyfield Dokes R7
Dokes gets cracked with an enormousleft hook. Another one lowers his body temperature, and when he digs inside his head is bowed in a way that foretells doom. Steel rewraps an exhausted and bloodied Dokes. Holy rips into him with winging right and left hooks. Dokes looks like the mummy now, trailing tape off of the other glove. He gets another break, though he’s been wobbled repeatedly in this round.
Holy WAILS with the right hook, directly on the cut. The exchange is huge, and Dokes is an animal for enduring it. The bell sounds, and the cleanest round in the fight so far concludes.
"I want to see ocean. I want to see black people. I want to see palms." - Wladimir Klitschko
Holyfield - Dokes R8
Dokes looks like he wants to box now, luring Holyfield in towards a nice combination. Holy returns Dokes to the ropes, they revolve and Holy bruises Dokes with a left hook, right uppercut combo.
Dokes shows off his weight advantage, really digging into Holy. Holy with a HUGE uppercut, and then another HUGE uppercut. Dokes is in trouble! Holy unloads with lefts and rights, backing Dokes to the ropes. The bell rings.
"I want to see ocean. I want to see black people. I want to see palms." - Wladimir Klitschko
Holyfield - Dokes R9
Dokes stalls Holyfield with a leaning, chopping inside assault. Steele is earning his paycheck now, as both fighters have adandoned the outside game. Dokes is throwing hard combinations inside, but the mustard is off the hot dog, it seems.
They spar pensively. The cut is managable, but Micheal’s endurance is not. Both men exchange pleaseantries near the ropes, and the round veers towards Holyfield once more in the final ten seconds.
"I want to see ocean. I want to see black people. I want to see palms." - Wladimir Klitschko
Holyfield - Dokes R10
They say the cut is bad, but Dokes is far from blind. Neither figher seems ready to submit. Dokes throws low again, but not on purpose. Holyfield looks ten years younger then Dokes, sticking and moving, though the left hook appears to have lost some heat.
Holy with A GIGANTIC LEFT UPPERUT. IT ROCKS DOKES. DOKE STAGGERS TOWARDS THE ROPES, OUT ON HIS FEET. HOLYFIELD WITH A CRUSHING RIGH HOOK. STEELE IS LOOKING….IT’S OVER!
Holyfield TKO 10
"I want to see ocean. I want to see black people. I want to see palms." - Wladimir Klitschko
hey thanks
My god I was such a big fan of Holyfield back then. Now, I just want him to sell a grill or something.
"I want to see ocean. I want to see black people. I want to see palms." - Wladimir Klitschko
Me too. Holy was my favorite HW for ages, and now, as with so many others, his “longevity” just makes me sad.
Makes me think of how things were back then. My god, Holy wanted Tyson so bad, I think he had pictures of him printed on the toliet bowl. Things are so much more cool-headed now. Even Wlad-David seems like sort of a put-on. But Holyfield really hated Tyson, and couldn’t understand why so many people worshipped someone like him. If that fight had happened in ‘89, it might’ve been the biggest heavyweight fight of the century. Itwould have been in contention, that’s for sure.
"I want to see ocean. I want to see black people. I want to see palms." - Wladimir Klitschko
For me, at the time, it would have indeed been one of if not the biggest. After all, I was nineteen years old in 89. But looked at historically, I don’ think it would. Boxing had already declined in cultural prestige by then. I don’t think there was any fight made that time or later that could have upstaged some of the great historical Johnson/Louis/Dempsey/Ali battles.
But for me personally, it would have upstaged them all.
I don't know
It would’ve been huge. Boxing had come back in a BIG way with Mike. For god’s sakes, do you remember how Ring was ranking him P4P #1 back then? A Heavyweight??? It was insane. It might not have ben “the best” Heavyweight fight, but it would’ve equaled the Rumble in the Jungle and the Thrilla in Manilla in terms of interest… and I think Holy would have won, whihc would make it incredibly memorable.
"I want to see ocean. I want to see black people. I want to see palms." - Wladimir Klitschko
Sorry about that
Typos and horrible coverage. Our apartment layout stinks… I had to keep turning my head.
Good god, it’s Holy-Cooper next. It’s 1991 and the word on the street is that Holy will retire as soon as he gets a chance to fight Tyson…. uh-huh…
"I want to see ocean. I want to see black people. I want to see palms." - Wladimir Klitschko
Thanks man
I just enjoyed Holyfield-Cooper R3, which was one of the best rounds in the modern Heavyweight era, for my money. I can’t even describe how awesome that round was. I think the Holy-Dokes fight would’ve been epic if Mills Lane had ref’d it. The stoppage of Dokes wasn’t exactly premature in my opinion, but the rest of the fight was so old school that I think it needed an old school ref to mind it. Like Smoger, Lane would have let someone fall.

Diaz-Reyes R1
Diaz pawing, throws a wild left hook. Reyes isn’t doing anything for the first minute. Diaz swings with both hands, nothing lands. Sharp left from Diaz, but it just misses from landing flush. Reyes finally throws a counter right, but like everything Diaz threw it doesn’t land. Fairly tentative for the first half of the round, and the boo birds are coming out. Big right from Reyes! And another! And another! Well Reyes found a hole early.
Back to Diaz being the aggressor and Reyes laying back. Diaz is trying to work to the body some and gets borderline low. Right from Reyes near the bell.
Reyes 10-9, steals it with a few good punches — Diaz really landed nothing of note even though he was aggressive

Diaz-Reyes R2
Right to the body by Diaz. Combo from Diaz, four or five punches, most of it to the arms or blocked. The rest of it was just short. Overhand right by Diaz doesn’t find the spot. Same as the first round so far, wonder if Reyes will find a few shots to sneak another round out on my card. Diaz with a flurry, little of it lands much.
Really bad action so far. Reyes with a big right at the end of the round. That just isn’t quite enough. This crowd is really wild. They hate this so far.
Diaz 10-9
19-19
"If they cut my bald head open, they will find one big boxing glove. That's all I am. I live it." -- Marvin Hagler
Diaz-Reyes R3
Diaz going to the body again to start the round. Don’t think it’s sustained enough to wear Reyes down to any appreciable level. Left uppercut from Diaz, Reyes comes back moments later with a counter right. This fight is sort of flying by because it’s not awful to watch, there just isn’t much in the way of clean punching. Diaz caught with another shot, then clinches up. Not a big shot anyway. His moderately effective aggression is winning another round. Reyes is way too tentative and doesn’t look any better here than he did against Ivan Valle.
Nice counter left from Reyes, slightly short but it landed. Tries a short right, doesn’t find it.
Diaz 10-9
Diaz 29-28

Diaz-Reyes R4
Reyes shoots a quick 1-2, just misses with the big right on the back end as it flies to the left of Diaz’s head. Diaz with two shots to the body, goes for a right upstairs but it’s way off. Back to the body by Diaz. Crowd boos, Diaz just keeps doing his thing. Reyes does, too, but his thing isn’t very effective so far. Counter right from Reyes, shut up Scott.
Three shots from Diaz, Reyes isn’t caught too hard. Elbows come into play a little from Reyes. Chopping right from Reyes. He could steal this round in the final minute if he lands a few good ones. Diaz still going to the body intermittently. Left hook and a sloppy left from Diaz. Not pretty but they land.
Diaz 10-9
Diaz 39-37
Probably Juan’s best round so far.

Diaz-Reyes R5
Nice body shots from Diaz in a three-punch combo. Reyes is starting to fall out of this fight fairly rapidly. He’s just not letting his hands go nearly enough. Right cross lands from Diaz. Diaz is really turning it on now. Reyes is too content to wait. Reyes catches Diaz with a left hook, and he’s firing! DIAZ IS HURT ON A RIGHT AND DOWN!!!!
WOW! TALK ABOUT YOUR TURNAROUND!
His legs are GONE, he’s up too fast. Too surprised. Small cut under his right eye.
A minute left. REYES UNLOADING WITH A HUGE FLURRY! NASTY UPPERCUT! DIAZ FALLING ALL OVER THE RING! HUGE RIGHT AND DOWN!
AND IT’S OVER!

Hernandez-Escobedo R1
Hernandez comes swinging with a left hook, then moments later he tries to tackle Vicente. Escobedo rocks him with a left hook, then swings wildly. Hernandez with some solid shots on the ropes. Hernandez drives him to the ropes him again. Jab from Escobedo. They’re throwing a lot of leather so far, fighting close and tight. HERNANDEZ DOWN ON A LEFT! Wow, flash knockdown for sure. Good scrappin’ and then that happens. Jab and a right.
Round ends just after the count. Man he’s hurting still. He needs this break.

Hernandez-Escobedo R2
RIGHT HAND ESCOBEDO, DOWN GOES HERNANDEZ! That was about a minute into the round. I tell you, there’s not much to say about this fight, it’s just fightin’. Close quarters fightin’. Good stuff.
Escobedo really unloading now, and he’s getting caught here and there. Hernandez is getting pounded now. He’s ducking and weaving as best he can. His legs look OK all things considered, and by all things I mean he’s 38 and not very good anymore. I feel for him — he’s busting his ass in there and fighting just fine, in fact he’s probably winning the fight outside of the knockdowns, at least in the first. This round has Escobedo winning pretty handily.

More good inside fighting. Accidental elbow? cuts Hernandez about a minute in. This has turned into a nice, competitive matchup. Hernandez UNLOADING NOW! Nice stuff! Esco on the retreat! Hernandez is firing hard. HERNANDEZ IS AWAKE AND FIRING! Wow, great spirit. This is damn fun. I’m really enjoying this one.

This is hard action to describe, seriously. To appreciate how good this is you have to see it. Reminds me somewhat of Canchila-Segura I, this is one of those war of attrition fights. Hernandez ripped by an uppercut. Trading hooks now at center ring. Hernandez with some nasty shots. If he was bigger Escobedo might be down.
Trading again, Esco to the body and then shook by a Hernandez left hook. Another tough round to score, but Escobedo steals it at the end for me.

Katsidis-Chavez R1
Chavez with a right. Chavez owning the first minute of the fight with MK laying back and Chavez working the jab nicely. Left hook to the body by Chavez, right upstairs is blocked. Chavez looks really solid this opening round. Katsidis seems to have some problems keeping up with him. Kinda close, sort of, but I thought Chavez clearly won it. More aggressive, cleaner punches, consistent jab.
Chavez 10-9

Really good fight to watch….. (for a heavyweight fight post 2000/01)
Does the fact a boxer doesn't switch weight divisions during their career detract from their overall P4P ranking?
Cos I'd take Hagler over most heavies in history, P4P, and also over "6 weight world champion" Oscar De La Hoya, and Marvellous Marvin never really messed about with his weight, did he?

Chavez sneaking in solid shots, Katsidis just not in it so far. This reminds me of the Juan Diaz fight. Katsidis coming at him now. He’s so much stronger, I’m guessing — he could really overpower Chavez if he wanted to.

Chavez is more than hanging in, and the first minute of this round has him working the jab again. Here’s what we’re learning: Katsidis is not a top lightweight. Period. A strong brawler should be able overwhelm Chavez probably. Chavez is cut bad on a headbutt.

A minute left and the round is wide open to be won. Katsidis UNLOADING with five straight unanswered shots. And another! Chavez throws a right to back him down. This is a brutal, brutal round. My God. Katsidis with a left. Katsidis with a STIFF left near the end of the round. Great finish for MK.

Andrade Tsypko Round 1
No Marlon B Wright reffing this fight. Fight’s in Montreal, and the crowd is very heavily pro-Andrade, where Andrade trains and has fought at least twice before.
Andrade not necessarily only moving forward to start. Tsypko holding out the pawing jab, like the klitschkos often do. Andrade lunches in for one shot at a time, though he’s throwing a show-me jab that’s not even close to effective.
Tsypkon lands the first clean punch of the fight, Andrade has yet to really find Tsypko, who sort of seems to have his track shoes on. Now Andrade is back to his usual stalking forward. He gets inside and is able to get a few hits to the body. Andrade more aggressive and threw more, but Tsypko landed the better punches. Close round that could have gone either way, but I give it to Tsypko
Tsypko 10-9
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Meanwhile Andrade is throwing bombs and marching forward like a robot, while Tsypko looks outclassed and is forced to tie him up when Andrade gets too close.
OMG… they forgot the mouth piece?

Another banging first minute. Boy, this is another damn good fight. How great is this card so far?
Katsidis seems to be overwhelming Chavez a bit. Chavez getting his mouthpiece put back in with about a minute left. Did he even HAVE one?
These fights are so hard to describe. They just are what they are. Gotta see ’em to get ’em.
Fischer says he has Chavez ahead. I could not disagree more. They are clearly biased toward Jesus, which is sort of predictable. Chavez’s cut is getting ugly. Lotta blood.
Katsidis 10-9
Katsidis 59-55

Andrade-Tsypko Round 2
Andrade comes out firing. Nails Tsypko a few times good. TSYPKO down!!! Big knockdown by Andrade. He’s coming in, Tsypko peppering him with jabs that just bounce off his face. Andrade not really aggressive about trying to get another knockdown. Every time Andrade gets aggressive, Tsypko puts his track shoes on. Tsypko lands a nice combo on Andrade, but Andrade hits him right back with two harder punches.
Andrade looking like Andrade. Tsypko’s M.O. seems to be throw a big punch, then move huge laterally, as if he was trying to fight an alligator. Andrade lands a big uppercut, Andrade landing a lot of his punches, and somehow Tsypko isn’t landing cleanly on him. Huge round for Andrade
Andrade 10-8
Andrade 19-18
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Just saw the knockdown...
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."

The thing is that you don't go into a fight vs Andrade thinking you can hurt him.

Chavez throwing heavy stuff but a lot of it just isn’t landing and when it does he appears to have no heat on it. They’re even getting sloppy at moments. Chavez is digging to the body this round and though it’s probably too late, scoring shots are scoring shots. He’s not going to wear MK down with that from here on out, but it works. Good flurry from Katsidis, landing with both hands. Chavez might be tiring. He just purposely went back to lay on the ropes.
Chavez’s hands are dropping, he’s retreating, he’s getting hurt. He just can’t hurt MK and he knows it. Solid round, clearly MK’s round. Chavez being asked if he’s OK.
Katsidis 10-9
Katsidis 69-64
This is just obviously a MK fight.

Andrade-Tsypko Round 3
Tsypko a bit more effective with his style early in the third. Andrade swings and wildly misses as Tsypko pops him and moves across the ring. Andrade chasing Tsypko down, Tsypko staying out of range. Big straight right by Andrade. Tsypko throws a couple to the body, but Andrade keeps coming forward. Andrade with a few more big punches and Tsypko looks hurt again. He keeps losing his balance, partly because the punches are hurting him, partly because he’s taking way too big of steps trying to run away from Andrade.
Andrade keeps coming forward, and is pretty much landing at will. Tsypko just isn’t covering up well. Andrade round.

Andrade with a big right. Tsypko throws a couple of quick combos that seem to knock a bit of the wind out of Andrade. Andrade comes on the inside and lands a few nice uppercuts, but Tsypko lands a few right back. Andrade back to stalking, really focusing on the body. Andrade still landing big shots on Tsypko.
Tsypko pops out a couple jabs, Andrade taking some time off, stalks and hits Tsypko with a hard right. Relatively close round, but Andrade still takes it. You know you’re in trouble when Andrade tries to box you for half a round and you still don’t come out the clear winner.

Andrade-Tsypko Round 5
Tsypko actually the one moving forward for a little bit, and he hits Andrade with a couple decent left hooks. Andrade ineffectively aggressive this round. Tsypko is staying our of range, and occasionally hitting Andrade with a single punch. Andrade lands a nice straight right, lunging across the ring. Andrade comes back in and lands two big ones. Tsypko having his best round since early, and Andrade having his worst, but Andrade is still landing the effective punches. Tsypko’s just trying to score points amateur style. Andrade-Tsypko Round 6
Tsypko back to pawing out the jab. Hits Andrade with a good left cross. Andrade taking the first minute of the round off basically, but Tsypko isn’t throwing enough to make a dent. Andrade comes forward and tries mauling , but doesn’t really land anything. Big right hook from Andrade, then a combo that pretty much misses. Tsypko beats him to the punch inside, but Andrade sneaks through an uppercut, and now Tsypko seems thrown off his game. Andrade with a nice three punch combo. Tsypko closes out with a couple of good shots. Tsypko won all but about 15 seconds of the round, but Andrade seemed to hurt Tsypko in those 15 seconds. I’m giving the round to Tsypko, but I could see it going either way.
Andrade 58-55
Vogt early, Vogt often.

All has Andrade way up. One of them has Andrade pitching a shutout, which seems a little crazy.

Andrade-Tsypko Round 7
Both come out guns blazing, and Andrade knocks down Tsypko again on what didn’t look like a huge punch. Tsypko seems a bit out of it, but seems to have regained his composure. Both landing about equally, but Andrade landing the much harder shots. Andrade bum rushes Tsypko and mauls him, though once again Tsypko pretty much blocks everything. Huge uppercut by Andrade, and Tsypko seems hurt again. Tsypko holds on. Tsypko is fighting an off balance style, so it won’t be good news if he keeps getting nailed like this.
Andrade 10-8 round
Andrade 68-63
Vogt early, Vogt often.

Andrade-Tsypko Round 8
Tsypko comes out looking strong, hitting Andrade a lot. Andrade takes the first minute of the round off, but right on cue he starts moving forward again around the 2 minute mark. Tsypko lands a good left hook, which has been his best punch all night. Ref calls time to take care of Tsypko’s tape, which probably will help Tsypko recover more. Neither guy doing too much in the middle there. Andrade tries getting more active in the last 30 seconds, trying to steal the round, but he really doesn’t land anything. Tsypko Round, mostly because of Andrade’s inactivity.

Valero-Pitalua R1
Here we go.
Valero jabbing both to the head and the body. Pitalua seems tentative and now he’s stuck in the corner and eats four unanswered shots. Valero is staying at a big distance and just picking at Pitalua. BHop says both guys know they can’t afford a mistake.
Cole stops the fight momentarily for a warning.
Big shot by Valero just before the bell.
Valero 10-9
"If they cut my bald head open, they will find one big boxing glove. That's all I am. I live it." -- Marvin Hagler
Andrade-Tsypko Round 9
Howard Grant is hilarious in Andrade’s corner, urging him to, um, be more active. Starts slow again, then Andrade jumps in with a big two shot combo. Tsypko a little more tentative after that, just pawing out the jab. Tsypko staying way outside now, neither guy really landing much because they’re so far away. Andrade finally closes the gap and gets in a couple nice shots to the body. Andrade round, although Tsypko did land more that round, but only Andrade landed anything effective. Slow round.
Andrade 87-82
By my count, Tsypko needs a KO at this point, and I just don’t see it.
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Valero-Pitalua R2
RIGHT HOOK VALERO AFTER A LEFT! Pitalua is finished.
Pitalua’s hurt bad and still going. Valero just goes insane, Pitalua is down again.
He’s really hurt. Cole is going to let him fight on.
Perfect shot on the first knockdown.
Valero again charging and just winging. Cole stops it. Good NIGHT!

Round 10
Tsypko back to being so far outside that neither fighter is landing anything. Andrade lunges is and connects with a solid right. Tsypko not really connecting with much at all. Tsypko looks surprisingly fresh, despite the beating he’s taken. Andrade is looking slow, but we all know he’s unrelentless even when he’s tired. Tsypko comes in and holds, and almost seems in survival mode now. This is an unaggressive as I’ve ever seen Andrade, but he doesn’t need to be aggressive because he’s winning the fight. Once again, Andrade was the only one who landed effective punches.
Andrade 97-91
Vogt early, Vogt often.

Andrade-Tsypko Round 11
Another slow start to the round, and more of the same. Andrade now has a cut over his right eye. Not sure where it came from. Andrade has slowed down, Tsypko throwing a lot of punches, trying to attack the cut. Andrade gets inside for a second and nails him with a good uppercut. Andrade gets Tsypko in the corner and hits him with about 4 strong uppercuts in a row. Tsypko had been winning the round, but Andrade has really been dominating the last minute. Tsypko still does manage to get some good punches in on their last exchange. Most action in a round this fight, at least for the last two minutes.
Andrade 106-101

Margarito for me.....
I kno, I know. But whatever was in his gloves, he still took about 18 and a half million punches on the chin from Cotto, and walked through them like they were nothing more than a stiff breeze.
Also, Cintron hit him with some MASSIVE shots, and they didn’t have any effect whatsoever on him either.

Andrade-Tsypko Final Round
Tsypko really pumping that jab at Andrade’s cut, trying to reopen it. Andrade is taking much smaller steps forward than usual, and looks a bit tired. couple of big shots from Andrade, but Tsypko comes right back with two of his own. Andrade gets him in the corner. HUGE combo. Tsypko is staggering all over the ring, Andrade just keeps laying it on. Tsypko somehow still on his feet, and not Tsypko is throwing his own wild bombs that are landing on Andrade. Both fighters are fighting like the win depends on a knockout. Finally, Tsypko runs out of gas, and keeps tying up Andrade. 15 seconds left and Andrade is trying to get the knockout. Then Tsypko lands a huge combo to end the fight. Great great round, would have been even better if the result of the fight was in any doubt.

Bradley-Holt Round 1
Bradley comes out quickly, being aggressive but not landing much. Holt really not throwing anything at all. Nice inside exchange, although not much landed. Looks like there might have been a headbutt there. Holt with a nice straight right. Holt not using his height advantage at all, pretty much has yet to throw a jab. Bradley going after the body. Holt finally throws a jab. Bradley gets inside, but not a lot lands yet again.
Nice exchange in the middle AND BRADLEY GOES FLYING. Holt really nailed him in the middle of the exchange, and it doesn’t look like Bradley still has his feet under him. Bradley comes inside and clinches. Holt catches Bradley with another left hook, and he’s wobbled a bit again. Bradley was probably winning the round until the knockdown, but that punch could end up changing the fight.
Holt 10-8
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Bradley-Holt Round 2
Bradley comes back out, keeps moving forward behind his jab, but not really landing much. Holt not doing much, Bradley trying to chase down Holt, but nothing much landing. He gets inside a couple of times, and Holt probably gets the better of both exchanges.
Holt misses with a huge wild uppercut and Bradley slaps him with a quick counter. Bradley’s not sitting on his punches at all right now. Holt makes Bradley miss a three punch combo. Holt lands a coulple punches, Bradley comes back with a nice straight right. Bradley gets inside and hits Holt with about 7 shots while making Holt miss two wild shots. Holt probably won the majority of the round, but Bradley almost stole it at the end.
Holt 10-9
Holt 20-17
Vogt early, Vogt often.

Holt-Bradley Round 3
Bradley still moving forward, but still not landing much when he does. Bradley with a nice left hook to the body. Holt seems content to just wait to counter and try to win close exchanges when Bradley gets in close enough. Bradley gets inside a couple times, and Hold is just pushing him down and grabbing him. Bradley with a nice right, but Holt with a better left counter, and they each land a couple more punches inside on an exchange. Both fighters land a jab. Bradley’s landing some good shots to the body. Holt still just sitting back, waiting to counter. Bradley wins the round, but the way he’s fighting, he will get countered big if the fight keeps going the way it’s going. Holt should be able to time Bradley jumping in.
Holt 29-27
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Round 4
Bradley comes out firing with a 6 punch combo, but nothing really lands. Bradley with a nice shot to the body. Holt still just moving backwards, not throwing many punches. Bradley lunges in and lands a couple of nice shots to the body. Bradley coming inside and Holt just shelling up. Holt comes out and tries to throw a combo, but Bradley parries it and lands a nice short uppercut to the face. They get inside and have a couple of even exchanges to the body.
Bradley continuing to chase Holt down. On the rare occasion that Holt tries to make his own offense, Bradley is doing a good job of countering him. Ref warns Bradley about a headbutt. Very one-sided round for Bradley, but he’s still making mistakes.
Holt 38-37
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Round 5
Bradley charges in, throws a quick flurry to the body, then to the head, landing about 7 punches, but they were of the pitty pat variety. Holt now warned for a low blow. Bradley landing some nice shots to the body. For every punch Holt lands, Bradley lands one just as big right back, and Holt just doesn;t have the same level of activity. Neither guy landing much now, but Bradley still the aggressor. Bradley throws like 15 punches and Holt throws two. One of the sillier things I’ve seen, in the clinch Bradley gave Holt what looked like a noogie. Another Bradley round.
47-47
Vogt early, Vogt often.
yep, so is scott out? or just drunk? haha…

he is waiting too much
Bradley’s making this go. Kinda surprising.

What do you guys think of Johnson calling the fight?
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
hes ok
i like his enthusiasm. doesn’t know as much and steve albert though.

Round 6
Holt coming out and being a bit more aggressive. This seems to piss off Bradley, who’s now throwing Calzaghe-esque flurries, full of sound and fury but signifying nothing. Bradley gets inside, and both guys land pretty simultaneously. Bradley accumulating a lot of work to the body. Holt blocking pretty much everything upstairs, but if Bradley keeps punishing the body, eventually Holt will need to lower his guard.
Holt with a nice combo where he lands 3 or 4 punches, but none of them landed square because of Bradley’s good head movement. Now the ref warns Bradley about low blows. A couple of nice left hooks by both fighters. Once again, Holt just really didn’t do much, and whatever he did Bradley answered right back.
Bradley 57-56
Vogt early, Vogt often.

Round 7
Bradley comes out aggressive again. Holt comes in to throw a right, which Bradley blocks and counters with three very side hooks that land but don’t have much behind them. Holt finally throwing some punches, but they don’t have much of an effect. Holt walking around with his hands down, which means Bradley’s gameplan is working.
Fighters circle, Holt tries to strike first, but Bradley avoids him and nails Holt with a couple shots to the bdy. Holt running our of gas, and Bradley starting to sit on his punches a bit more. I saw some people were saying he’s feather fisted, but that’s just not true. He has very good power when he puts his weight behind punches, he just only does it a few times a round.
Anyway, Holt starting to leave himself much more wide open, and Bradley is just landing because Holt is throwing wide punches that Bradley is avoiding, while Bradley is throwing straighter punches.
Bradley 67-65
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Round 8
Holt comes out throwing more of the punches. Bradley comes in, nails Holt with a nice shot to the solar plexus. Holt on the ropes and Bradley with another flurry. Bradley with a nice big straight right to the head. Bradley popping out the jab. Holt looks like he’s tiring, Bradley looks extremely fresh. He’s just a freak of nature who’s in superb shape. Holt back to backing up. Ref warns Bradley about low blows again, but no point deducted. Holt comes in wild, and is pushed down by Bradley. Holt comes in and clinches. Big two punch combo by Bradley to close out the round.
Bradley 77-74
Vogt early, Vogt often.

"According to all the laws of aerodynamics the bumble-bee should not fly, but the bumble-bee does not know this and so flies anyway."
I didn’t necessarily mean that as an insult. Just noticing the similarity to Joe. I’ve frequently defended Calzaghe in the past.
he’s had some slappy flurries, but he’s sat down on a lot of big body punches and landed them clean.

Potatoes have eyes.....
Round 9
Holt now moving forward, Bradley fighting moving backwards. they switch around. 30 seconds in, nobody’s landed a punch. Holt clinches, Bradley does another noogie. Bradley comes in, and Holt lands a decent uppercut on the inside. Holt with a bit Holt comes in with a nice straight right. He’s using his length a lot better this round than he has been the rest of the fight, and actually threw a fair number of punches as well. Holt round.
Bradley 86-84
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Round 10
Bradley comes in, Holt tries to beat him to the punch, but Bradley’s punch is straighter and lands more solidly. Holt now moving forward, but he’s not doing anything but stalking. They get inside, Bradley flurries, but Holt flurries back – nothing of too much consequence landed by either guy. Bradley with a couple nice shots to the body, and Holt is now holding his arms significantly lower than he was early in the fight. Yet another warning for headbutts. Bradley with a nice shot to the body, then makes Holt miss badly. Bradley making Holt miss, but both guys land a good shot. Bradley comes in and flurries again. Not much landing, but not much landing for Holt either. Holt with a big body shot, which was probably the best shot in the round. Still Bradley really controlled most of the round, and probably landed more good shots than Holt. Bradley round.
Bradley 96-93
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Well you have to consider how life was in his day... there were still lychings in his era.
I know he was no angel but it isn’t like people were welcoming of him and his excellence in a sport.
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
good points. i just dont think it warrents a pardon though.
not that it has any impact on my life or anything. just saying.
his mann act charge was complete garbage and i think most people recognize that.

Round 11
Holt comes in, misses, Bradley lands a nice counter, then has another one of those useless flurries. Holt just can’t seem to find Bradley. Holt turns around and Bradley lands one to the back of the head. Bradley comes in and lands a couple of bid shots to hte head. Bradley seems extremely fresh, and is sitting on his shots as much as he has all fight. He just keeps coming forward, and he’s landing far far more punches than Holt. Bradley jumps in and Holt catches him, but he doesn’t follow it up with anything and Bradley doesn’t seem hurt. Almost every time Bradley is coming in, Holt is clinching now. Holt literally has his track shoes on and runs backwards around the ring. Holt probably needs the KO to win this one.
Bradley 106-102
Vogt early, Vogt often.
good stuff
i dont think it lit a fire under him though

Holt is a MUCH better talker than Bradley.
SSR's NFL Fun Fact: Andy Reid is the only coach in the league who uses the pass to set up the pass.
Final Round
Holt comes in and is moving forward again. Bradley circling backwards, Holt doing the chasing. Holt lands a nice counter, but once again it doesn’t hurt Bradley. Holt is back to what he’s been doing the rest of the fight, but Bradley isn’t throwing too much this round, so as to not get caught with a counter. They get inside, and now Bradley is initiating the clinches. Bradley’s fighting as if he knows he’s comfortably ahead. He better hope he’s right, because he’s giving away the 12th. Holt isn’t doing much, but Bradley is doing literally nothing. Bradley slips. They call it a knockdown? WTF? Anyway, only 10 seconds left in the fight, and Holt does nothing until throwing a punch at the last second.
If this fight ends up a draw because of that bullshit knockdown, I’m going to be pissed. Anyway, Bradley clearly won the fight, IMO.
Bradley 114-112
Vogt early, Vogt often.
Bradley?
Even without the knockdown, he lost the round.
"I want to see ocean. I want to see black people. I want to see palms." - Wladimir Klitschko
Yeah but 1 point could completely change the outcome.
Whether he lost the round or not is irrelevant. It’s how much he lost it by.
SSR's NFL Fun Fact: Andy Reid is the only coach in the league who uses the pass to set up the pass.
Holt and Bradley both giving each other props after the fight
Their trash talking before hand seemed really contrived because they’re both nice guys anyway.
Scores:
114-112
115-111
115-111
All for Tim Bradley
Vogt early, Vogt often.
So basically even with those 2 knockdowns he still got his butt kicked?

He didn't get his butt kicked
Nobody did. It was a goo, hard fight.

GODDAMMIT
I went to take an hour long nap before the show so I could stay up for the DREAM event afterwards and my alarm didn’t go off. I CANT BELIEVE I MISSED THE LIGHTNING CARD. Glad it was good for you guys though
Gimme 1 round!
Some post-fight revelations from Andrade
- Says he couldn’t see out of his left eye from the 10th round on
- Probably will have another fight before he takes on Bute again
- Says he didn’t watch a single tape on Tsypko before fighting him
- Says he’s having major problems with his elbows, which makes it tough on him training
- Says he actually doesn’t like training, but Howard Grant kicks his butt in the gym
Andrade really seems like a nice, down to earth guy, and he’s tough to root against. He also really has made some major strides under the tutelage of Howard Grant. There are a lot of shots that he slipped last night that would have bounced right off his face back when he fought Kessler.
Anyway, that post-fight interview is available here if you want to watch it.
Vogt early, Vogt often.
