Mayweather-Marquez will be at 144 pounds
All the disputes appear to be settled, the rumors done: Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Juan Manuel Marquez will fight at a 144-pound catchweight on July 18.
I have to admit (despite any competitive reservations) to being very excited to see Floyd in the ring with a guy like Marquez, who will chase him wherever he goes. Sure, it might get Marquez knocked out, but it won't be for a lack of effort on Marquez's part.
Golden Boy's CEO Richard Schaefer -- who does not promote Mayweather -- says rumors of a Floyd "hit list" are real, and that it includes Manny Pacquiao, Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto and Victor Ortiz. The first inclination is to call B.S., or at least go, "Well, when we get there I'll believe it." But boxing does nothing but benefit from Mayweather showing his bravado via taking the fights people want to see, so let's all hope he's for real on this one.

this reeks of calculated BS.

I hope the hit list is real
I’d love to see Floyd take on the best of the best at welterweight.

It’s clear from his interview on Sportscenter that Mayweather has a problem with Bob Arum (even though this was practically common knowledge anyways). This will be the biggest hurdle in getting Floyd in the ring with all these great fighters.

Isn't Mosley with Golden Boy?
I’m sure Ortiz is.
I know we’d rather see Floyd fight Pacquiao and Cotto, than those two, but if it is impossible, then I’d be happy to see Mosley/Floyd….
Boxing is the beginning of all sports. I'm willing to bet that the first sport was a man against another man in a fight. (Omar Epps)

Yeah, Shane’s a partner in Golden Boy. I still don’t think either of them really want to fight each other.

If by "hit list"
Floyd means a list of guys he verbally denigrates but refuses to fight, then I believe it.
Boxing is like jazz. The better it is, the less people appreciate it.

![Nate Campbell gave an exclusive statement to BoxingScene.com about the potential fight between himself and Floyd Mayweather Jr., which is not a done deal but now seems to be the lead rumor for Mayweather's March 13 date.
"[W]ho else between 140 and 147 can bring the kind of fight that I can? I have solid HBO ratings for all my HBO fights over the last few years, and I have the style that can beat Floyd. And besides, everybody dont know this, but Floyd DID turn down a fight with me several years ago. He called it 'slave wages' or something. So theres some unfinished business between us, and now's as good a time as any to straighten it."
