Lee Beard, one of Hatton’s cornermen, confessed: "I actually turned around and asked for the towel. But I saw the referee was going to call it off.
"If Ricky had got up, I would have called it off there and then. He had been hurt too much in the first round."
A lot of folks are calling for Ricky to retire now. Freddie Roach and Carl Froch are two of them (quoted in this article), Floyd Mayweather Sr. is another.
