Around SBN: Leandro Damiao Is Still Really Good

Thursday and Friday Results

  1. Yohnny Perez TKO12 Silence Mabuza. Written accounts had Perez behind on the cards at the time of the TKO. Great come- from behind win for the new IBF mandatory at bantamweight.
  2. Ramie Laput DQ Ratanchai Sor Vorapin. Laput evidently was beating former beltholder Sor Vorapin from pillar to post and caught him with an accidental headbutt. Sor Vorapin retaliated with a Muay Thai style roundhouse kick to the head, leading to his disqualification.
  3. Marvin Sonsona KO2 Wandee Singwancha. Great win for the 13-0 (12) fighter over a former 2-time beltholder. The 18 year old is expected to be the next big thing to come out of General Santos City. I've posted the KO in a separate fanshot.
  4. Oleydong Sithsamerchai TD11 Muhammad Rachman. Sithsamerchai was easily handling Rachman early, and decided to give the fans a show in the later rounds, trading on the inside with the shorter Rachman. There, Rachman gave him trouble, and he actually lost most of the late rounds. Eventually, an accidental clash of heads lead to cause a nasty gash on Rachman, leading to an early scorecard.
  5. Chris Edwards, Gary Sykes and Darren Sutherland all won on the Sky Sports card.

WTF? A roundhouse kick? Really? I hope someone uploads the fight to youtube.

I second that...

Kick? Crazy...well protect yourselves at all times..

Chris Edwards last night was fighting a machine. Usman Ahmed was blastproof. Great Heart and chin made him reach the final bell. Little guys are fun to watch at times.

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing in that fight. Usman took at least 15-20 HUGE hooks right on the jaw. Amazingly tough kid. Sutherland looked excellent, he really dominated and ended it in the fourth.
