Update: Cameron Dunkin, Pavlik's co-manager, addresses rumors
Although Pedro Fernandez of Ring Talk is reporting that middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik has recently entered a rehabilitation center for alcohol abuse, Brandon Wright, of the the Plain Dealer is reporting that fellow Plain Dealer reporter Joe Maxse spoke with Cameron Dunkin, Pavlik's co-manager, who vehemently denied Fernandez's story.
Dunkin responds to the accusations:
"He's not in rehab. He hasn't been in rehab," Dunkin said of Pavlik. "It's not true. Pedro Fernandez is a scumbag. These guys write it, and everyone on the Internet went with it. They're not journalists. They're not accountable to anyone. Who gives this guy any credibility?"
Dunkin also adds that Pavlik has been contacted for comment on the rumors and that his father Mike, his other co-manager, is "furious."
Notes from SC: While we made it clear we were merely sharing a rumor from Pedro Fernandez, Bad Left Hook apologizes if the Pavlik family suffered any embarrassment or hurt from our post. We gladly retract the story and now post this -- gleefully, even, because it means that one of the best fighters in the sport isn't going through anything so serious.

Best of luck to him
Though it’s unfortunate if it’s true.

I was really not expecting that
Like most here I really like Pavlik. Best wishes to him and his family.
Just wanted to add..
That though so far no other media has corroborated this story that Fernandez broke Pavlik’s resigning with Top Rank several weeks before it was announced.
The link also appears broken now.

Wow
That sucks, love Pavlik as a fighter. Best of luck to him.
Boxing is like jazz. The better it is, the less people appreciate it.

Bit of a shock to read.
We all have our vices and i hope Pavlik gets through this. Drinking can be evil if you let it grip you it helped destroy Scott Harrisons career.
When you dream...anything is possible... People can fly. Sometimes theres a moment when you wake and become aware of your surroundings..but you are still dreaming... You may think you can fly but you better not try...
Personally, I don’t buy that any of this is true. Obviously, I know there are and always have been functional drunks in the sport, but this just sounds like a whopper or maybe intentional disinformation. The bits about the stitches in his hand (supposedly from trying to fix a broken window) and the police scuffle have been well known for a long time, but Pedro tries to include them here as some kind of supporting evidence. I’m storing this in Bullsh*t File until its corroborated by Camp Pavlik.
I mean, no offense to Fernandez, but his “scoop” of Pavlik resigning with Arum doesn’t prove anything about his credibility… if the scoop was “Pavlik will sign with Golden Boy” and then that actually happened, you’d know he found a leak somewhere.
