Haye-Klitschko Postponed
According to Setanta Sports, David Haye has pulled out of his upcoming fight with Wladimir Klitschko due to an injury. The nature of the injury has not been specified. According to the report:
The British hope suffered the problem in training ahead of the eagerly-anticipated bout, which is to be screened live on Setanta.
It will be a heartbreaking blow for Haye, who championed long and hard for the opportunity to shake up the division by taking on the best in the business.
His controversial tactics in goading the Klitschko brothers into action caused a stir but, ultimately, it secured him his crack at Wladimir on June 20.
An independent verification of the injury is required before a decision on the future of the fight can be confirmed and a new date fixed for the Schalke showdown.
A late pullout is always a big blow to a promotional team, but this one especially hurts. Not only is this probably the most anticipated heavyweight fight since Lennox Lewis retired, but over 60,000 tickets had been sold for the event. Hopefully the injury isn't so bad that the fight can't be rescheduled quickly.

This would be damn near impossible to pull off
But if I’m with K2, I IMMEDIATELY contact Nicolai Valuev’s camp and see if he’s still in good enough shape to be able to go with two more weeks of training. If so, I can see the card still going on, albeit probably with reduced fees from the networks.

I had the same immdiate reaction
I mean, I doubt Valuev has already fallen so completely apart that he can’t restart his camp for the 20th. Or hell, fight Chageav. Chances of either of those fights coming off are pretty slim, I guess. Oh well.

I will have to totally reassess my feelings about Valuev if he has the balls to step in against Klitschko on two-weeks notice. That would involve some cojones, and being admiring of Valuev will be a new and strange sensation for me.

You know, I had a creepy feeling about this fight since whole Valuev-Chageav fiasco. For some reason, I don’t feel so shocked that it didn’t come off. Always felt like there was more hot air then helium in that balloon.
If this puts the barely active Haye on the shelf for a few more months, I have to downgrade his chances of beating Klitschko form “slim” to none. If its longer, I say they pull whatever abort clauses were written into the contract and just let Haye fight up the ladder the standard way. He would get butchered without a few warm up fights after a year and a half layoff.

Awful
Is there any real possibility of this happening now? I can see them putting somebody completely unworthy of a shot in front of Wladimir and throwing the Haye fight away.
Klitschko’s manager Quote “Ninety five percent of the fans who bought tickets did so because of Klitschko. They haven’t given any detail on the injury but say Haye can’t train. We will get someone else but I can’t say yet who it will be.”
I vote Martin Rogan!
Bad.
Gutted. Thats fucked up. Looking forward to it.
David is going to get some shit from fans but he cant fight if truly injured. He cant move with a bad back, thats what i heard but you never know..
If the teams stay calm the fight can happen Sept-Oct. Valuev is the obvious choice now but no way will he take it. He knows he would get battered unless the lure of cash is too much to turn down.
Klitschko will fight someone he can beat on the 20th. Like John Ruiz.

If it's not Valuev
Then I’m guessing it will be a third match against Lamon Brewster, or a match against Kali Meehan. Once again, those are the guys who have been training. The other alternative, if they can’t get those guys, is to have Universum cancel the Bidenko-Boytsov fight and have Bidenko fight Klitschko.

You would be hard pressed to find ANY heavyweight in shape to fight right now..

KJ is already begging for one, believe it or not. Arreola will make noise too, but based on what I’ve seen I believe it is altogether possible that Chris walks around at 290. Wlad could try to clear Povetkin out of his ages-old mandatory slot, maybe?

Neither of those guys is going to take the fight on 2 weeks notice
And neither is anyone else who isn’t already in a training camp or who just didn’t finish one up.
