According to Bokser.org, Tomasz Adamek has gotten sick of waiting around for a big money fight at cruiserweight and will be moving to heavyweight. This means there will be no rematch with Steve Cunningham, and pretty much forecloses the opportunity to have Adamek-Hopkins. Of course, if a network is willing to dish out big money for Adamek-Cunningham II, or if Hopkins steps to the plate for a fight for the cruiserweight championship, all of this could change. One possible target mentioned in the article would be a fight with Andrew Golota, which would be huge in the Polish community.

Back and Forth

I recall Adamek in the past has talked about campaigning at both Cruiser and Heavyweight, because he knows he has no chance against the Klitschkos. There are a lot of notable heavies with similar height… Boytsov, Povetkin, Chambers, Chagaev, JC Gomez, Brewster, Sosnowski, etc. Sosnowski of course is Polish but I’m not sure how much of a following he has, since he’s fought all over and has no major titles to his credit.

Only thing is, a lot of those opponents would only be big in Europe, whereas Adamek has built a strong fan base in north Jersey. It would be interesting to see him fight Chambers but will Fast Eddie risk his shot at Klitschko? Doubtful.

Anyway, considering fights over 200 can’t hurt but, other than Cunningham or perhaps Hopkins, Adamek is short on obvious opponents.

I’d rather see Adamek-Cunningham II, but I would happily take Adamek/Arreola or Adamek/Chambers.

Bernard Hopkins, my oh my

If he only had stepped up to the plate and give Adamek the respect and money he deserves this wouldnt have to happen. I can’t blame Adamek (one of my favorite fighters), but I guess I’ll just hope he’ll be fine at the heavies…
