I was told this week that serious talks have been rekindled for a fall fight between middleweight champ Kelly Pavlik and Paul Williams, with HBO making a very strong offer. The question is, will the two camps, who don't exactly get along well, be able to agree on the split? We shall see, but my fingers are crossed because it's a great fight -- certainly a lot bigger than anything else either guy can legitimately make.
Dan Rafael's blog. Also, Jack Loew was on a Youngstown radio show last night, saying that they're about to sign a big fight with someone who wasn't on HBO's original list. Williams is one of the only guys out there who fits the bill.

Pavlik
I think Pavlik would have the edge and a good chance at a late KO. Williams has always been the much larger man and has never faced someone with Pavlik’s strength. Williams is hittable… I won’t believe he can take Pavlik’s power until I see it. After rolling up the early rounds on flashier combos, I think Williams gets lined up on the ropes and broken down.
