Around SBN: Carmelo Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire Vow To Fit In With Lin

Sooner or later I will move up to heavyweight. Look what Chambers did to Dimitrenko. Chambers is smaller than me and he was weighing not much over cruiserweight limit. It is too soon for Klitschko but I could fight Chris Arreola, who is ranked 1st by WBC today !

IMO

If he still can’t get decent fights soon, expect him to move sooner rather than later. There aren’t many (any?) draws left at cruiserweight in the US, and there are more available fighters with name recognition at heavyweight. Adamek has expressed that he doesn’t want to go back to fighting in Europe, but at the moment, that’s where the money is in his weight class. Fights against Arslan or Huck would do well, but he’d need to go to Germany for them to be worth anything. He could also set up a fight against Wlodarczyk or Drozd which would be huge in Poland, and at least he wouldn’t have an ‘away’ disadvantage with those ones.

does anyone...

think Bad Chad could make a move up to heavyweight? After Glen, who does he have to fight at 175, other than maybe Pascal? And he won’t move down to 168, now that that Showtime tournament will eat up almost all of the opponents. I feel like Bad Chad could be a taller, more athletic Chambers if he went up to heavyweight…

I think he will eventually

But probably like 5 years down the line. I suspect he’ll move to cruiser himself in a couple years, but there’s certainly more money to be made at LHW right now, even with a weak weight class.

Jumping up

from fighting 175 guys to fighting 230 guys is a big swing. Even the leap to cruiser is 25 lbs. its not like 168 to 175. You have to change your entire body, size at the cost of speed. May not be a good thing for Chad who is very young and relies on his speed.

his chin

is barely holding up at light heavy.

don’t think its a good idea for him to make the jump.

i hate to make the comparison to him and bob foster but look at what foster did at heavy after dominating light heavy. not much at all. foster even hit like a mule (which chad of course does not) and it didn’t help him.

business wise i say sure why the hell not. but hes going to be eaten alive once he gets there.

Despite his size, Chambers is able to have some success at heavy because he’s slick enough to not get hit clean too often. Adamek doesn’t have that kind of defense – and considering he was buzzed against someone like Cunningham who isn’t a big puncher at cruiser – I don’t see how he can stand up to any of the big heavyweights given his offensive style.

Arreola would kill him

I can see the allure for some of these guys moving up but a reality check awaits them.

Please forgive me...

This maybe a fight that has already happened or it maybe ridiculous to suggest, I’m still trying to catch up on boxing that I missed while I was enamoured w/ MMA…. but what about Adamek vs Haye? If Adamek is looking to maybe move up to HW and he wants a money fight…. why not Haye? Haye vs any Klitschko won’t happen for a bit and I think if Haye wants to get into contention for a title shot… maybe fighting a name like Adamek and winning may help his cause.

Adamek...

made a bold statement. I think Arreola blitzes him early.
