Seriously

I aint gonna throw down any cash to watch Jones Jr and Lacy.

What do you guys think about the overall Pinoy Power card? I like Nonito but I’m not sure if the rest of the card is worth plopping down the cash. Definitely gonna pass on the Jones/Lacy fight.

I suspect he really won

Fight was in Kazakhstan, promoted by Shumenov.

all three judges saw the battle in a favor of the defending titlist: 114-112, 114-112 and 114-113 – for Campillo. Fightnews reporter saw it 113-113 a draw

Impressive to say to least to go all the way to Kazakhstan and then get the W… or more importantly the L on Shumenov impressive resume thus far..

Peterson vs. Arceo Rd. 1

Not doing this fight too closely, simply because it’s really a showcase fight.

Arceo seems like he’s be an exciting fighter against someone a little less talented. Arceo is actually landing his fair share of shots, but Peterson is reall pounding Arceo to the body quite a bit. Arceo’s been more aggressive, Peterson’s landed the higher percentage and generally has been more precise with his shots. I’ll give this one to Peterson, but wouldn’t complain if you scored it for Arceo.

Peterson 10-9

Peterson vs. Arceo Rd 2

Stats for the first round:

Peterson, 15-39
Arceo 12-89

Arceo seems to have slowed down a bit this round so far. Peterson throwing a few jabs. Throws a combo, but doesn’t land much. Arceo throwing a few punches with intent, but Peterson blocks all of them. When Arceo throws, Peterson doesn’t doo too much, more just tries to avoid shots. Fortunately, he’s doing a good job of that and isn’t landing much. Peterson with a few nice combos at the end of the round, one with a right to the body and a short left hook to the chin that seemed to wobble Arceo a little bit.

Peterson 20-18

Peterson-Arceo 3

Arceo threw twice as many punches as Peterson last round, but Peterson landed the punches with effect.

Arceo a bit more active to start this one again. Peterson tries for a right hook, and Arceo ducks under it and lands three punches, but none of them completely clean. Peterson with a 4-punch body shot combo. Arceo with a couple nice shots to the head inside. Peterson seems to be tiring some, clinching a bit. Peterson with a couple shots to the body, Arceo back with a couple of his own. Arceo throws about 12 punches in a flurry at the end of the round, and only lands maybe three, Peterson throws two of his own in the exchange but lands both of them. Been that kind of night, but I do think Arceo was a bit more effective this round.

Peterson 29-28

Round 4

Peterson coming out a bit more aggressive to start this round again, but when he’s throwing the quick combos, there’s a lot more flash than substance. Arceo with a big combo out of a clinch, and the two are both throwing with all they have. A big left hook by Petersion connects, which makes Arceo stumble. Peterson with a stralght right that connects. Arceo just isn’t moving his feet much anymore at this point, and while he’s still throwing 100 punches a round, Peterson is figuring out that he’s a hard target to miss.

Round 5

They say Arce has the same trainer as Cristobal Cruz. Makes a lot of sense – he’s fighting very similar to Cruz so far. A couple of punches land, and Arceo seems to be bleeding from his forehead a bit.

Arceo starting to slow down a bit, and Peterson takes advantage by hitting with that left hook pretty much at will right after Arceo misses.

Round 6

Mario Lopez sounds like he’s just repeating things he heard Joe Tessitore say on FNR3

Arceo now seriously starting to slow down. Peterson landing big shots almost every time he throws. He’s not throwing a ton still, but he’s probably landing over 50% the last couple rounds.

Arceo finally putting together some nicer combos again, but Peterson blocks most of it. Peterson back with a combo which Arceo finally takes the effort to block.

Peterson strong early in the round, Arceo looked better in the second half, but Peterson still probably takes it.

Round 7

Arceo almost looked like he was about to quit on his stool there. Was still on it when the bell rang, but the ref lets the fight go on. Arceo jumps up, grabs him inside and actually lands a number of solid shots. Peterson seems more focused on clinching than punching this round.

Peterson with a couple of good body shots. Arceo comes back with three hard hooks of his own, but it’s obvious that Peterson is much more powerful than Arceo.

Arceo with a few good shots to the body. Peterson comes back with a couple of shots in the middle of about a 15 punch combo by Arceo, but Arceo actually landed quite a few there. Peterson with a big straight that seems to hurt Arceo a bit as the bell rings, but Arceo carried the rest of the round.

Peterson 68-65

Round 8

Arceo dives in, and Peterson times him and seems to stun him on a quick counter. Much slower round this round than the rest of the fight so far. About a minute left, and Arceo starts to pick it up again. Peterson seems to be running out of gas a bit, but Arceo isn’t taking too much advantage, mostly hitting elbows and shoulders. Peterson back with a couple of shots that land to the head.

Peterson 78-74

Round 9

At this point, it’s pretty obvious that there won’t be a knockout, and Arceo probably can’t win without one. It’s just more of the same, only less of it. A lot of clinching going on now, and Arceo’s workrate has dropped significantly. Arceo probably doing more work and landing more this round. For the most part, Peterson seemed to take the round off.

Peterson 87-84

Round 10

Peterson’s trainer is pissed that he’s not letting his hands go. He’s in with a guy who’s 6-7-1 in his last 14 fights, and Arceo’s in the fight. Per the stats, both fighters have about the same number of connects, but Arceo has consistently thrown twice as many punches all fight. For those who saw it, this fight is very reminiscent of Cruz-Mashaba, so I guess an upset is a possibility.

Peterson seems pretty damn gassed out at this point. Getting inside, clinching, his punches don’t have much snap. Arceo is tired as well, but is at least letting his hands go. I was just about to give the round to Arceo, but in the last 10 seconds, Peterson unloads with a combo that really hurts Arceo, and probably steals the round.

Peterson 97-93, but I could see a draw card here. Not a great performance from Peterson, and Arceo was a lot guttier than expected.

Luevano-Concepcion Rd 1

A lot of dancing around and throwing air jabs by Luevano for the first minute. Concepcion lands a big left hook on Leuvano that seems to catch him off guard and sends him reeling back. Concepcion otherwise not throwing a ton. Concpecion comes in, lands a nice shot to the body, misses with the follow up top. Luevano seems a bit unsettled. Just throwing our punches, but not landing much. Abe with another big hook. Not a lot of punches landed by either guy, but Concepcion certainly landed the big punches.

concepcion 10-9

Luevano-Concepcion Rd 2

Luevano still popping out that jab, but I don’t think I’ve seen him land one yet. He’s trying to keep Concepcion off of him, but occasionally Abe pops in there and throws a quick combo. Concepcion mostly moving but not throwing when he’s on the outside. Nearly two minutes in, and maybe three or four punches have landed all round. Luevano finally tries to time a left hook, but Concepcion counters with a better left to the body. Concepcion seems to be burning a ton of energy dancing without really throwing. Tough round to score. Luevano probably threw 10 times as many punches, but probably only landed 5 or 6. Concepcion only threw about 10 punches the whole round, but landed two good ones. I’ll give it to Abe, but I could see it going either way.

Concepcion 20-18

Round 3

Both guys just extraordinarily tentative so far. Concepcion lunges in and misses, Luevano counters.

Through 2 rounds, Concepcion has only thrown 34 punches, Luevano 87. Each has only landed 9 punches. This is shades of Lyakhovich-Briggs. Concepcion just doing NOTHING. Luevano lands a jab, then their feet get tangled. Concepcion would be served well to try moving behind a jab to get inside, but he’s just befuddled by Luevano’s rangefinder.

Abe finally with a shot to the body. First punch he landed all round I think. crowd is booing a bit. I probably would be too. This is a shit, shit fight so far. Luevano takes it by default, simply because Abe did NOTHING.

Concepcion 29-28

Round 4

Luevano now really controlling the range, and Concepcion can’t get anything going. He tried to throw a couple shots to the body, but Luevano moves back and Abe hits air. I don;t think Luevano has landed anything either, but he’s certainly winning the round on ring generalship.

Luevano actually landing a couple of straight lefts now. good right hook by Luevano. Freddie Roach needs to get Concepcion to try something new, because what he’s doing clearly isn’t working. At this rate, he’ll throw less than 200 punches in 12 rounds.

38-38

Round 5

Roach seems frustrated. Luevano with a bunch of judge jabs, then times a right hook when Abe tries to come in. I can’t wait to see the punch stats on this one. Luevano has to be landing less than 10%, and Abe just isn’t throwing. concepcion with a right hook to the body, but it seems to have little effect. Abe just doesn’t seem to be able to get inside. When he does, it’s only for one punch. Abe lands a big body shot, and Luevano’s feet gets tangled. As he gets his balance, Abe lands another body shot. That’s almost enough to steal the round, as bad as the output has been, but I think Luevano still gets that one.

48-47 Luevano

More of the same early. Luevano jabs air, Concepcion dances around and doesn’t throw. Luevano bleeding from his nose a bit, probably because of cocaine abuse, since no punches have landed. Now concepcion’s feet get tangled. Boo birds are back out again.

Luevano with a couple of two punch combos to Concepcion’s head that land but have nothing behind them. Concepcion still not doing anything.

I hate to say it, but I probably would have been better off watching the BJ Flores fight. BJ Flores vs. DaVarryl Williamson would be more exciting than this shit.

Round 7

Luevano throwing out air jabs and even a couple air combos now, but nothing close to landing. Concepcion finally sneaks in a jab, maybe the second one he’s landed all night. Luevano seems to at least be trying to increase his output of actual punches now, following up some of his jabs with other punches, but still nothing landed. concepcion finally follows in with the jab. And shit. I lose the picture on the fight. This black screen is more exciting than the actual fight.

Picture comes back with 30 seconds to go. Last 15 seconds, and the two finally engage. Both guys land a couple of big shots. The bell rings, and about three seconds after the bell, Concepcion winds up and throws a big punch, knocking Luevano out cold.

Luevano DQ7 Concepcion

That was awful

Abe finally had Luevano hurt with about 1 second left to go in the round, Luevano had his hands down with his chin sticking out, the bell rang, and Concepcion threw a perfect 1-2 to knock Luevano out cold. It wasn’t as long after the bell as I initially said, but it was clearly after the bell. The first punch of the combo was about simultaneous with the bell. Nady took too long to step in though.

Luevano is finally up.

Round 1

Vic Draculich is the third man.

Nonito STILL looks big compared to Concepcion, who’s always fought at a higher weight and came in 4 pounds heavier than him on the scales.

Nonito not as aggressive as he was in his last fight. Concepcion is making a bit more of an effory to throw punches than the last one, but he’s doing a lot of the same posturing on the outside. Donaire with a couple of nice punches up top. Just overall, he’s leanding more of the clean punches. Rafa is occasionally lunging in with a shot, but seems a bit in over his head. Al thinks he hurt Nonito at some point, but I didn’t see it.

10-9 Donaire.

Round 2

Donaire not doing much. Raf lunges in and lands a couple of lefts to the head. The handspeed difference between the two is just staggering. Still, Raf has actually landed shots, while Donaire is really mostly stalking. Donaire with a big right hand over the top. Concepcion now coming forward a bit more and trying to throw, but isn’t landing. Donaire with a big right hand that stuns Rafa a bit, and then a left uppercut that also does something. Now he has Rafa backing up. Now Concepcionlands a big hook. donaire also lands a hook on Rafa, who now has a cut over the eye. Concepcion has Nonito backing up. Nonito’s trying to measure up for the uppercut but badly misses.

concepcion controlled most of the action for the round, and landed the few bigger punches, so he gets this one.

Round 3

There’s a nice rhythm to the fight so far. The two fighters go back and forth on which one is backing the other one up. Still, Donaire is more accurate than concepcion, and he’s a lot quicker and seems to have a much greater reach. Donaire backing up, but still landing more shots than Concepcion.

Donaire with a left hook that lands under Concepcion’s straight right. Concepcion back to trying to back up Donaire, but now Donaire is circling a bit more. Donaire isn’t really throwing the jab that looked so good in some of his previous fights, but he is popping off some combos while moving backwards. Neither guy landing too too much this round, but Donaire was probably more effective.

Donaire 29-28

ROund 4

Nonito seems to start this round as the aggressor. Sounds like the cut was ruled caused from a punch, so that also helps Nonito.

Nonito with a miss, Concepcion misses back, but Nonito lands a nice counter uppercut off of the missed counter. The jab isn’t opening things up much, so he’s figuring out other ways to get Concepcion to open up. When he does, he’s landing. Donaire is landing a very high percentage of his shots. According to a stat between rounds, he was landing 73% of his power punches.

Rafael seems to be significantly more careful in coming in now, after getting countered bif. AND A FISTFIGHT BREAKS OUT!!! Donaire with a big right hook, Concepcion with one right back, and both guys just trade big punches. Both Donaire and Concepcion seemed a bit wobbled at the end of the exchange going back to the corners.

Donaire 39-37

Round 5

Donaire now circling and jabbing, really for the first time int he fight. It’s worked well for him in the past. Concepcion comes in and misses with a big right over the top, but for once Donaire doesn’t capitalize with a big counter. Concepcion has some sneaky head movement, making Donaire miss when he cares to do it, but he doesn’t do it nearly enough.

The fighters circle, and both have some success landing their jabs. Concepcion rushes in, but doesn’t land. Concepcion lands a big 1-2 combo with wide hooks, but his head also comes up the middle, leading to a clash of heads. Concepcion tries to turn up the volume at the end of the round, but Donaire takes a few steps back and ends up landing the best punch with a counter.

Donaire 49-46

Round 6

Concepcion is stalking, but not landing much, and Donaire is having success moving backwards and countering. Concepcion’s cut seems to have closed up completely. Concepcion wails with a big fright hand that connects on donaire. Another big right. And yet another. Donaire doesn’t seem hurt, but Concepcion is now connecting with his best punch. Rafael with Donaire caught in the corner, and he unloads a bit to the body. Nonito just not as accurate or active with his counters late in the round, and Concepcion seems to have found a groove in moving forward, cutting off the ring, and throwing big bombs. Concepcion’s best round of the night.

Round 7

According to the punch stats, Donaire has a 90-40 connect advantage, though Concepcion has thrown more and most of what he landed has been big shots.

Concepcion backing Nonito down into a corner again. Lands a nice right hand, but Nonito turns himself around. Halfway through the round, and Concepcion lands a few big right hands in a row. Good shot to the body, but Donaire finally lands a good shot. Donaire with a couple of big shots right back. Rafael still coming forward and just bringing relentless pressure. He hits Donaire with a big one at the end of the round. Much like other rounds, Donaire probably landed more, but Concepcion landed better, even if he was sloppy.

Round 8

Concepcion still being the aggressor, but neither guy is really landing much in the first minute. Concepcion with a jab jab straight combo that lands. Donaire seems to be trying to rely too much on his reflexes and not enough on blocking punches, and when Concepcion gets him on the ropes, he’s able to land punches, even though Nonito is clearly much quicker.

Entertaining round. I lean Concepcion again, but Nonito might have stolen it late. Concepcion’s pressure seems to be getting to Donaire.

Round 9

Keyboard problems, but here’s the summary: Concepcion controlled early, Nonito started to land some big shots again, Concepcion backed off late and Nonito took over.

Round 10

Donaire finally back to circling and jabbing, and he’s landing that jab at a pretty good clip. He’s landing some right hands now, and Concepcion is finally backing off hte pressure a bit. When Nonito lays off, Concepcion goes back to pressuring, but he;s not doing nearly as good of a job landing as he was earlier.

The cut over Concepcion’s eye is opening up pretty bad again. Donaire is pretty much landing at will now, although Concepcion is firing back a fair amount as well.

RJJ fight for those that care

Its Rd 3 and the fight has gone like this. Lacy bulls jones into the ropes and punches Roy on the elbows and arms because Roy has ear muffs on. But when Roy wants to he lands at will with good left hooks to the body and upper cuts. Lacy is cut over the right eye. Roy is quicker on the outside and more accurate on the inside. 3 rounds to none for Roy. I’ll update if anything different happens.

Jones is just toying with Lacy at this point. He looks pretty good. Or Lacy looks totally shot. Or both.

Round 11

Concepcion is still pressuring, but Donaire is landing combinations and jabs on the way back. Concepcion without nearly as much success landing his punches anymore. Donaire now using a ton of head and upper body movement to abvoid shots. About 30 seconds left, and Concepcion lands a big right. Donaire with a big right back of his own. Donaire back on his bike, and Concepcion isn’t able to do any more damage.

If Roy opened up for a full round maybe but

he fights for just a couple of seconds a round. And he doesn’t seem to be hurting him to bad it seems to be more of Lacy getting frustrated that he can not do anything.

Round 12

You think Concepcion known he needs a knockout? He’s winging it now. He lands a punch, and Donaire goes down, bujt it’s ruled a slip and probably really was one (although a punch did land). Concepcion moving forward, following his slow jab with some wild shots. Donaire not backing down, and his throwing out his own jab. Donaire is starting to look tired and sloppy, and is leaving his hands way down. Still, Concepcion isn’t able to land with the big shots he’s throwing. Concepcion really backing down Donaire now, and Donaire is on his bike. Concepcion lands a couple, but not enough to score the KO win. Donaire lands a couple of hooks to close out the fight.

Solid fight, but probably not the performance Donaire was hoping for.

Jones easily winning.

Lacy has a cut over one eye and they are both swelling shut. His corner wants to stop it but Lacy wants to fight on. Jones to fast for him on the outside and to accurate on the inside. Shut out for Roy through 10. Lacy is stumbling around the ring and Roy isn’t going in for the finish instead he is talking to the crowd or giving him nuggies.

Lacy's corner stopped the fight. Lacy is just done. Cooked. And re-cooked.

Jones was the lesser shot fighter in this match. Though I thought Jones throw more combinations than his previous three or four fights.
