Friday Night Fights Open Thread
Tonight on Friday Night Fights, at 9:00 p.m. Eastern on ESPN2, Alfredo "El Perro" Angulo will be facing Gabriel Rosado. Angulo is coming off his mild upset loss to Kermit Cintron in what was supposed to be his step up fight, while Rosado is coming off of a big upset win over Kassim Ouma. Rosado has made it a habit of giving guys much tougher fights than expected, beating both Ouma and James Moore, and nearly beating Fernando Guerrero. Both guys like to come forward and throw punches, although Rosado is a bit more versatile than Angulo, so this one could be interesting.
I posted a link before, but here's a documentary on Rosado (follow parts 2 and 3 after part 1 finishes):

BTW
Should be back for the main event, but I’ll probably be dropping in late. In-laws are in town.

Anthony Dirrell had cancer, we get it. The 10th time you say it is 9 times after it registered in our brains.
He’s beating up this Contreras dude but he somehow is staying up….but the bad news for him is the corner stopped the fight. Too much punishment.

Rosado should stop complaining
He was clinching, they let go, he thought the ref should’ve said “break”, but he didn’t protect himself and got rocked with a right hand and dropped.
The 2nd knockdown it was just a beautiful left-right combination.
The 3rd one was just more combination punches.
He was getting destroyed.

Rosado lasts 2 rounds
Alfredo Angulo TKO-2
Rosado got knocked down but complained it was a push. He got up, got dropped again cleanly. Got up, got dropped again. Good night.

Like the shirt Angulo….
Angulo did what he was expected to do in impressive fashion.
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
I’d say he topped what he was expected to do, honestly. Rosado has the talent to have run up a 20-0 record or whatever but he’s been matched as an opponent. He’s no chump and Angulo took care of business for sure.

My Boy Teddy
Did anyone stick around for the end of the broadcast when Teddy Atlas starts trying to sing “In the Jungle”? Not only does he start humming/mumbling the tune, he completely gets the lyric wrong. The whole song is about how the “lion sleeps tonight,” however Teddy in his infinite wisdom changes the lyric to “lion roars tonight” and suggests it as ring entrance music. Karaoke with Teddy indeed!
