NOTE: Kessler-Perdomo is being aired by Showtime on tape delay, and is not live. DO NOT post spoilers in this thread. Spoilers in this thread will get you banned. If you feel compelled to post spoilers for Kessler-Perdomo, do it in a FanPost and clearly label the title with "SPOILERS."
Not gonna do the records bit for this show, because it's a showcase show, and we all know it. Kessler and Ward are due to meet in the Super Six World Boxing Classic on November 21, and both of them are looking for impressive victories, and perhaps even more importantly, to not get hurt at all or suffer a bad cut or anything like that.
Kessler (41-1, 31 KO) is facing the tougher test, as Gusmyl Perdomo's record (16-2, 10 KO) doesn't quite tell you how much talent he has. Kessler is the perceived top dog by many (including yours truly) at 168 pounds, but Perdomo over Kessler would be a lesser upset than, say, Marquez over Mayweather. Cliff Rold thinks Perdomo has a speed advantage and doesn't rate Kessler as significantly better in any way.
Andre Ward (19-0, 12 KO) faces Shelby Pudwill (22-3-1, 9 KO) and should face no resistance. Pudwill is 34 years old and has fought just once since a 2006 first round TKO loss to John Duddy. The Pudwill name is mostly known due to Shelby's brother, Tucker, getting an iffy title shot at Joe Calzaghe years ago.

He was picked to be an easy patsy.
I suspect Kessler will have a dominant win, but probably a UD, not a KO. (Not knowing whether he was tonight), Perdomo has never been down, and faced some big punchers like Jose Luis Herrera.

It just seems like he recruits the wrong kind of player for where he is. He’s in Michigan. Take advantage of the type of athletes that are in Michigan, instead of trying to recruit the south. Virginia is one thing, but southern players generally aren’t going to want to go somewhere as cold as Michigan.

Kessler-Perdomo R1
1-2 from Kessler about a minute in, as they herk and jerk around the ring for about a minute, no one landing much. Perdomo with a three-punch combo, two landing. Left hand Perdomo. Right hand Kessler, then a quick jab by Kessler kind of wobbles Perdomo just a very little bit, but nothing comes of it. Kessler starting to swing, but not landing a lot. 30 seconds to go and a winnable round either way. GREAT combo at the end of the round for Mikkel, and that should win the round.

Kessler-Perdomo R2
Two hard jabs by Kessler sting Perdomo. He’s really got some oomph in his jab, one of the most effective in the sport. In fact, as Antonio Tarver intelligently remarks: “That jab is almost like a punch.” Fantastic.
Kessler is kind of lighting Perdomo up out there when he throws, but he’s waiting for good chances and not wasting a lot of motion. Perdomo is doing some decent work but I think we can see he’s pretty well outclassed. It kind of reminds me — early, I know — of Arthur Abraham-Mahir Oral.
Actually, the last minute pretty clearly goes to Perdomo, making this a somewhat tough round to score.

Kessler throwing the jab. Farhood notes that Kessler is headhunting, and he’s right. Kessler pins Perdomo on the ropes late in the second minute, and starts laying in some good shots. Now he’s got that jab working a little bit again after Perdomo gets off the ropes. AND DOWN GOES PERDOMO ON A RIGHT HAND with about 20 seconds left in the round! Perdomo not selling any ill effects, and his legs look OK. Big, big round for Mikkel.

He could pretty easily win a fight
And I wouldn’t count him out of any of them. In some ways, Taylor is tailor made for Abraham, but if his stamina can somehow hold up, I don’t see Jermain losing a decision. Abraham’s solid, but his record is VERY weak. Taylor is by far the best opponent he’s ever faced.

He’s just not much of a finisher. He hurt Pavlik worse than anyone, and he’s the only guy to KD Carl Froch in his entire pro and amateur career.

in emeril lagasse’s FISH restaurant, after barrera/juarez II. this was just after Hatton had beaten (yes, contraversially) Collazo in the 1st of his 3 fight hbo deal. so lampley walks into the restaurant past me and 6 mates, we are all hammered of course. its vegas. i said mr. lampley, sir, when you gonna put hatton in against floyd? he actually turned around and came back to answer me. ‘gentlemen, let me tell you something, I would stand a better chance against mayweather than hatton" – as it happened hatton (who i have met and had also seen that nite ealrier as he was carrying barrera’s belts into the ring) was down in the zuri bar so i called his mate Simon with him, and said lampley had just disrespected Hatton. they came up right away to the restaurant and gave him a world of shit@ you had to be there i guess. free drinks all round. merchant was there and he looked OLD.

Valdez goes down from a great right hand. montiel is just laying it on him, and valdez is fighting back like a warrior even backs up montiel for a moment there. this a fun first round folks. another right hand dazes valdez temporarily, but valdez is still there punching back. montiel’s got a monster cut that the commentators said came from a punch. the cut is on the left eyebrow of montiel

These guys are throwing it down guys. valdez is more than willing to go war despite the knockdown, and i’m damn sure it’s because of the blood flowing down montiel’s face. Good left hook-left uppercut combo from Montiel in the middle of the ring. by the way, chavez sounds horrible. is he really old already or was it all the extra fights? Montiel is laying some bombs on valdez, but Valdez keeps moving forward. Montiel is down! i turned around real quick, so i don’t know how it happened but what a momentum changer after one round. and now the shitty ref is helping out montiel god damn it. valdez strafes montiel with a great punch at the end of the round

Round 3
Montiel starting the third round moving, but valdez just keeps on stalking him. The cut starting to look real gross, and valdez just keeps throwing punches in bunches and MONTIEL IS HURT but he fights back. now montiel’s back to moving around the ring hardly throwing a punch. that cut is clearly bothering him, and it seems as if he’s just trying to survive as long as possible. good left from valdez, and another from valdez.

i think the ref is stopping the fight. if the commentators were correct then it is a KO vitory for Valdez. Valdez seems to think he won, but i’ll wait till the announcer does the official results

twas the doctor who stopped the fight sorry. kind of a shame, it seemed like it was going to be amazing.
whoah what the hell? it’s a technical draw since apparently they ruled it was a headbutt. Valdez is clearly disappointed, but he shares a hug with Montiel as a show of good sportsmanship. the box azteca crew can’t come up with a good angle to confirm whether it was a punch or not

only way that couldve been a draw was if they ruled the Valdez knockdown a slip which is awful since it was clearly a massive uppercut that downed Montiel.

Round 1
Crowd is pumped, and the bell rings and here is the main event. chavez jr moving around the ring, and 30 seconds in he finally throws a punch. lehoullier moving forward throwing some jabs, and throwing some decent shots. monster right hook from lehoullier, and chavez jr still doing his thing. ooooh and chavez jr knocks him down with a great left hook to the head. the dude gets up but he still looks a bit doozy. he’s fighting back but he’s rocked by another left hook. dude’s got no legs, and chavez jr is blasting him. dude was on the ropes and chavez bombs on him until the ref stops the fight.

if u even give a flyin fack, the follow up to that lampley/floyd story is also mildy intertsting. so fast forward about 6 months to hatton/castillo, which was the 4th liver k.o – right? at the t+m center in vegas. thats when ricky calledout floyd and floyd of course saw it like manna (ie, money) from heaven.
so after getting back to the mandalay hotel, me and the boys (same crew) saw lampley and hbo producers at the elevators up to Mix niteclub – immediately my buddy (johnny narbett – West Brom fan) races up to the bow-tied fack Lampley and says Mr Lampley, Mr Lampley do u remember us from last september after the barrera fight? to which of course he says huh?? johnny then says you were with the most beautiful girl in vegas, he (lampley) says was she a tall brunette? which we all unanimously respond as “yes” – he then turns back to us – and says “gentlemenn, that woman is a complete criminal” . . .
this is true guys. why wud i spend so much time time typing this shit out other wise/ah ah -
