Darren Sutherland, 27, found dead in London

Darren Sutherland: 1982-2009

Top Irish boxing prospect Darren "The Dazzler" Sutherland was found dead at his London home. The former Olympian's body was discovered by his manager, Frank Maloney. Terence Dooley says the death is being ruled a suicide.

Sutherland will sadly be remembered as a promising talent who never got to show us how high he could have gone in this sport, and he truly was a potential star. British prospect James DeGale -- who beat Sutherland in the Olympic semifinals en route to a gold medal -- told Sky Sports that Sutherland was "an excellent fighter" and "a gentleman." The Dublin-born Sutherland won a bronze medal in Beijing in 2008.

It's yet another tragedy for the sport of boxing in 2009, following the untimely and shocking deaths of Arturo Gatti, Vernon Forrest and Alexis Arguello, among far too many others to list here.

Sutherland's professional career ends with a 4-0 record, all wins coming by way of knockout. Rest in peace, Darren.

Horrible news. I was so shocked when I heard this. The guy had the world at his feet. He always came across as a laid back, easy going friendly guy and a great competitor.
Rest In Peace

I'm not sure if you wrote this as a result of the link I sent you....

But I thought you’d do a better job than me, so thanks.

RIP Darren Sutherland.

Quinton Jackson: Let's see, I'm 22 right now. In three years I see myself being 25.
