Bad Left Hook Live Boxing Results and Commentary: Floyd Mayweather Jr. v. Juan Manuel Marquez
The talk is over, the fight is upon us. If Juan Manuel Marquez pulls this one off, it'll be a watershed moment for Mexican boxing and one of the great upsets of our time. If Mayweather wins with the ease that many expect he will, he's going to be hit with tough questions immediately. Guaranteed.
The PPV broadcast starts at 9pm ET / 6pm PT. The undercard tonight is damn solid, so make sure you're watching the whole show, and hey, stop by and talk fights with us, too.
If you aren't watching tonight and are looking for live coverage, you've found the best you're going to find anywhere. Live coverage will occur in the comments section of this post, and everything updates live, with no need to refresh. You'll need an account for the live update feature, and there are plenty of good reasons to sign up for one.
Let's do this!
NOTE: Since I know many people are going to watch both this show and UFC, or watch UFC and follow this show online, we ask that you please not post any results for UFC 103. If you're new to SBN, UFC 103 will be covered at BloodyElbow.com, and you can discuss that card on their site. There are people who plan to watch the UFC show late tonight or tomorrow, so no spoilers.

The buzz in gone
I’ve always been positive on this fight and defended it……till yesterday.
Floyd’s weight issue has angered me. Given that Marquez was already at a speed and size disadvatage, the fact that he paid to be as comfortable to his regular fighting weight as possible instead of trying to fight made me lose any respect I had.
Have there been any instances of a lighter fighter in a catchweight bout winning? Or a fight that could compare to an upset if Marquez wins? Knowing that something’s possible would at least make the fight watchable.
With the weight disparity and Floyd’s aggresiveness, I hope we don’t see another Gatti-Gamache tonight.
Here’s hoping for the best.

You and me both...
I’m still excited about the fight, but far less so. Especially knowing that it clearly WOULD have affected Floyd if he had to make that cut. He didn’t choose to not cut just for the hell of it, he would have had trouble with it so he paid to not do it.
I will be hoping like hell that we see JMM just say “you know what? I’m going after this son of a bitch” and just busting him up. Even if Floyd wins, I hope he has to work his ass off for it.

+ 1, at least the undercard looks to be entertaining with Escobedo-Katsidis and a more entertaining John-Huarez bout.
Are you going to be simultaneously watching while doing the UFC pbp on BE?

It won’t be close to that. Get that out of your mind immediately. I think Floyd pulled a dick move, but I think Gatti flat-out cheated (may he rest in peace).
Have there been any instances of a lighter fighter in a catchweight bout winning?
Many. Catchweight fights have gone on forever.
Or a fight that could compare to an upset if Marquez wins?
Pacquiao-Oscar had similar odds. Baldomir over Judah. Douglas over Tyson was way bigger than this would be. Braddock’s incredible run. This is boxing. Marquez over Mayweather makes me crap myself, probably, but isn’t exactly unheard of.

I don’t mean to be a downer, but with Floyd bulking up after the weigh in and Marquez two pounds below the agreed limit, the potential for a differential has me concerned for JMMs safety.
The fights that you’ve listed can be explained retroactively as fighters like Judah/Tyson being complacent and Oscar being shot. If we could be talking tomorrow about a reason for a Floyd loss, it would be great.

Floyd has never rehydrated a whole lot. It’s really not a worry for me in that regard. It’s a worry for me that he steamrolls JMM, but he’s not going to jump 20 pounds like Gatti did.

still hoping for the best
But I don’t think Pacquiao Oscar was similar odds at all because DLH was drained at the weight. Floyd’s made sure that won’t be anywhere near an issue for him.

I too have seen whatever begrudging respect I gave to Floyd Mayweather go into the toilet. With the Gatti-Gamache question Floyd’s never been a one punch knockout guy like Gatti was and never had the history of rehydrating 15-20 lbs like Gatti did.

Maybe Pac-Oscar are around the same odds, but I think the betting odds are way out of whack. They are a lot of time for the biggest fights, especially where one guy is liked and the other one really isn’t. I think it would be more comparable to Curry-Honeyghan, where the well-regarded but unknown Brit knocked off the then #1 pound for pound fighter in the world.

I'm getting excited for this fight
Watching some of the promotion for it here in the UK, it strikes me that Mayweather is being portrayed in a completely different light than he is in the US, almost as a cheeky rogue rather than an immature, egomaniacal jackass. There also seems to be a respect between him and the UK press that appears not to exist across the pond
Btw, the coverage of this fight here on BLH has been truly superb

I have a good feeling about this fight.. I think he Cruz will kayo the more experienced Lock, similar to the way he kayoed Miranda. He seemed very conformable adjusting to a fellow lefty and using the left cross the way, uh, “supposed” to be used. I have to admit, the undercard fights are very impressive.

I just hope the main event is competitive. I can only really see Marquez missing a lot of shots and getting countered to death or just clamming up and getting potshotted all night. Really the first is all I can envision. Sucks.
Still, war Marquez.

Nacho claims
that they’re going to try to pressure Mayweather on the inside, work the body, and conserve energy until the late rounds and go for the KO. I don’t know whether or not it will actually work though, and I kind of suspect it’s a smokescreen. Doesn’t sound like a typical Marquez gameplan to me.

They came out of the blue… They weren’t one shot and the guy was dropped It was like several shots that buzzed Casamayor and Diaz… and then they went down for the count.
He is very strong don’t get me wrong but all those KOs came from not exactly going for a KO. He just did his business then KO was a result of his good work in the previous rounds.

Marquez has power, I think we all have seen that. But he isn’t gonna find Mayweather, he isn’t gonna get to Mayweather’s vulnerable side, and he isn’t gonna risk putting on a stinker by trying to counterpunch.
I dunno if he’ll go the distance. Oh well.

Cruz-Lock R1
Lock’s height and reach advantage is so obvious, I’m hoping he uses it. Left hand by Lock and a nice one. Lock with a lead left that barely misses. Cruz trying to go to the body with the jab. Nice left to the body by Cruz. Cruz targeting the body really nicely in the opening round. Lock missing long 1-2s, now misses a wild right hook. LOCK SHAKES CRUZ, AND A LEFT HAND PUTS CRUZ DOWN!
Cruz looks OK, and he’ll fight on.
Cruz tying up. His legs might not be very good. Yeah he’s blatantly hugging. He wants nothing to do with Lock now, and Lock is swinging haymakers. Bell sounds as the two of them fall down as Cruz hugs up again.
Lock 10-8

Cruz-Lock R2
Lock is really trying to time Cruz coming in with a right hook, which is what set up the knockdown in the first round. Jab to the body by Cruz. And another. Cruz leads with a right hook, blocked. They tie up as Cruz almost walks into a straight left. Lock with a right to the body. Lock warned to keep the shots up.
Cruz is really, really tentative this round. Right hook by Cruz thuds on the side of the neck. Cruz missing shots, not able to work inside. Right to the body again by Lock. Jab upstairs by Cruz. This is a fight that Cruz should be winning, really, but I think he’s two rounds and an extra point down, but Cruz really turned it up late in the round.

Cruz-Lock R3
Lock with a right hook to the chest on a counter. Combo from Lock, looked like he strayed a hair low again, but nothing said. Nice 1-2 from Cruz, and if Lock wasn’t awake, he is now. Lock stings him with two shots to the body, and Cruz complains that it was low again. Near a knockout shot from Cruz on a counter left, but just misses. Cruz really slinging hard combinations now. Lock blocking a lot of it, Cruz missing some of it. Emanuel Steward just snorted a few boogers right into his mic.
So far a much better round for Cruz as he’s dictated a lot of the action. Good trade of shots at center ring, and again Lock wins by timing with a couple of really nice counter shots. BEAUTIFUL straight left by Lock, and HERE THEY GO! Man they are letting it FUCKING FLY! WOO!
Think Lock stole the round.

Cruz-Lock R4
Another lead Lock by right. Lock swinging hard shots to the open the round. Right hook meets mostly glove. They trade swings again, Cruz getting the better of it. These two came to fight. Right to the body by Cruz, good shot. Cruz with a counter right, and a nice one, as Lock tries to go to the body. Lock getting backed up by big swings from Cruz. Cruz doubles the hook, neither landing.

Because the big deal is more a) that Floyd didn’t have to work to boil down, and b) that Marquez has never been this high (people thought he was pushing it at 135, much less 144)

im not big on the weight talk
i know floyd has fought higher than jmm but theyre an inch apart in height. and floyd fought small earlier in his career. thats just me tho, apparently.
but i see it as if people arent discounting manny agains coto cuz of the weight (when theyre basically the same size) why do it to jmm. i know floyd has a reach advantage, but that happens.

Katsidis-Escobedo R1
Escobedo shooting the jab to start. Katsidis trying to brawl his way inside to cut off the reach advantage. More jabs from Escobedo. Katsidis comes in throwing a right to the body and going upstairs. Both are doing what they need to so far. Good shot by Katsidis upstairs as he charges in. Esco jabbing almost exclusively thus far, maybe just feeling out what Katsidis is going to bring. Katsidis winging power shots all over the place.
Left hook by Katsidis lands solidly, and Katsidis badly misses on another one. Good shots by Escobedo. 1-2 from Esco, and Katsidis comes back with some brawling. Esco covering up defensively, then eats a left and lands a right in return. They’re mixing it up. This is gonna be a rough, tough fight. They end it throwing leather.

Katsidis-Escobedo R2
Katsidis turning it into a close brawl, which is his fight. Katsidis is covering, rushing in, crowding Escobedo to death. He looks like he’s already wearing on Escobedo. Good right by Katsidis backs Esco down. Escobedo is just not jabbing at all this round and it’s making him look terrible. This round is all Katsidis, and then with about a minute left Escobedo starts trying to jab as he moves back and keep Katsidis at bay. But here comes Katsidis again. This is like Katsidis mixing what he did against Casamayor with what he did against Diaz and coming up with a really solid gameplan. Good trade near the end of the round again.

Katsidis-Escobedo R3
Escobedo back to using the jab as weapon number one, which is a really good idea. Escobedo controlling distance and looking much better than he did in the second round. Katsdis crowding him on the ropes, Katsidis digs a shoulder into him, then hits a right hand. He’s really bullying the shit out of Escobedo. Max Kellerman breaks out “A way to score a fight is who would you rather be in any given round?” which I always hate.
Katsidis really working Escobedo over now. Esco’s going to have to dig even deeper than he did against Hernandez in April to pull this one out, and Katsidis is a lot younger and stronger than Hernandez was.

1-2 by Esco doesn’t get there. Jabs from Escobedo this round again, again starting it well. He’s done that in the first and third. Left hook upstairs by Escobedo. Body work by Katsidis, then upstairs with a left hook, and now he’s got Esco crowded badly again. Escobedo keeps getting lured into a fight he’s just not going to win. Nice uppercut by Esco, but Katsidis doesn’t even react, just keeps throwing. Escobedo knocked back, but Katsidis gets hit on the way in chasing. Combo from Esco is blocked. Escobedo is starting to sound tired when he punches. Escobedo with some good work at the end of the round, and Katsidis just misses a home run right hand.

Both guys come out for the fifth with marked-up faces. Katsidis just ripped about a 10-punch combo, and he’s coming out to win this round, it appears. He’s REALLY firing the shots. Both guys might be getting tired juuuust a bit. Big right by Katsidis! Escobedo never saw that one coming, but he took it very well. Katsidis presses Esco into the ropes, and now he’s trapped in the corner. Escobedo playing defense and slips out again. Katsidis isn’t so easily bullying him anymore.
Three shots to the body and a right upstairs by Katsidis as Escobedo tries to tie him up. Esco goes back to the jab. Katsidis getting hit more, but I still think he won this round.

Katsidis bullying again to start the round. Katsidis puts him in the corner again, but Escobedo covers up and tries to punch his way out, and he makes it out. Sharp jab by Katsidis. Escobedo staying away from Katsidis a lot better, and he’s starting to get back in this fight. He’s not letting Katsidis land the power shots as easily, not getting pushed around the ring. Big flurry from Katsidis right after I say that.
Uppercut inside by Katsidis. Right hand by Katsidis. Katsidis digging to the body, Escobedo tying him up again. Esco is doing decent work now and then, but he’s doing it in spurts. I’m really impressed by how solid and focused Katsidis has been tonight. He’s not wavering on his plan, and Escobedo keeps falling into the traps.

Katsidis-Escobedo R7
I tell you, this is just going to Katsidis and going away. I could see people giving Escobedo a few rounds, actually, but I really like Katsidis’ work tonight. This is the best, most controlled I’ve seen him fight. He’s stuck to what he’s good at AND added some defense. He’s digging away at Escobedo, still bullying him, and nothing Escobedo’s doing is causing any actual damage. He’s losing the firefights, and he’s not jabbing enough for that to win rounds, in my view. Another round for MK.

Katsidis-Escobedo R8
Good combo by Katsidis after some good jabbing by Esco for about 40 seconds. After they tie up and break, Katsidis lands the right hand again. Katsidis controlling another round, and Escobedo’s honestly on his bike now. I think he’s getting banged up and starting to really wear down. Body right by Katsidis. Combo Katsidis, left hook by Escobedo, Katsidis just keeps coming. He’s DOMINATING this round and I think he’s really starting to get close to where I think Escobedo goes down, but then maybe not.

Katsidis-Escobedo R9
Katsidis comes out winging shots to the body, and one of them strayed low. Time is called. And it’s back in after no real break.
Escobedo letting his hands go now. Escobedo backed up to the ropes now. Katsidis is just not going to be deterred at all. Escobedo probably needs a KO at this point and I don’t know that he can do it. Katsidis is relentlessly hounding and pressuring him. Nacho asking Esco if he wanted to quit after the last round might get him to quit after this one. He’s on Desperation Street at this point.
Escobedo’s punches look slow and weary. The body work has worn him down a lot.

Katsidis-Escobedo R10
Katsidis gets him to the ropes again, and he’s swinging. Escobedo keeps tying him up. He’s done a good job of that I guess. I don’t think Esco has much left at all, at least not offensively. Katsidis chasing him around and trying to pressure. Esco is on his bike, then he tries to set stuff up with the jab and largely fails. This is a real learning experience for Escobedo if nothing else.
Katsidis roughs him up again, now warned for shots behind the head. There’s a counter shot for Escobedo, but it’s too little, too late.

Katsidis-Escobedo R11
Escobedo looking for counter shots, trying to get Katsidis to make a big mistake. He needs one. Katsidis keeps coming, keeps coming, keeps coming. Escobedo throwing, but then he just has to drop his elbows and cover his body up as Katsidis attacks. Escobedo looks like his legs are going, not so much from punches that are happening now, but the constant body work, all the pressure he’s had to endure, and the fact that he’s had to move all over the place to stay away from Katsidis, something at which he’s been unsuccessful anyway. Katsidis coming at him more to end the round. This fight has been all Katsidis.

Katsidis-Escobedo R12
Well, if Escobedo’s going to win, he needs a KO. Katsidis knocks him back with a left hook. Shit, Katsidis is coming out like HE needs the KO. Both guys throwing, Escobedo giving it everything he has left, which doesn’t look like much. Right hand Katsidis. Escobedo cut now. Katsidis might have a broken bone somewhere, because I noticed a few rounds ago that he’s got some bad swelling in his left jaw, and it’s getting worse and worse.
Good action round from both. Bless Escobedo, he’s gunning out there, it’s just not there, and Katsidis is fighting smart enough while fighting hard to keep it going. BIG SHOT BY ESCOBEDO! Katsidis flurries back, and it ends.
Good fight. One-sided, but a good fight. This might be closer than I have it, but I can’t see closer than 116-112 for Katsidis.

John-Juarez R1
The key: Juarez not waiting around to get started.
Right to the body by John. John throwing combos, Rocky covering up. Juarez targeting the body. Rocky coming at him, Juarez moving back and playing good defense, then coming back in with some sharp offense. John with three punches and then he’s out. Juarez is going to have to work very, very hard to beat this guy. We all knew that, but once again the speed and smarts advantages clearly go to John.
Nice long uppercut by Chris John. Right hand by John. Good opening round for John.

Didn’t mention it first round: Chris John’s trunks say THUNDER on the front and GATTI on the back, and the trunks are blue and white. Class.
Nice combos again by John. Juarez with a nice right over the top. John with a left hook, a right, and then a borderline low shot, and Juarez clips him with a right in the middle. Left hook to the body by Juarez. Rights inside by Juarez. Better round for Rocky, but John comes back with a right at the end. Boy, if Rocky can keep doing that…

Think most had John last round. Maybe I missed something. Juarez making it a dogfight inside in the first minute. They’re really being weird about Chris John putting Gatti’s name on his trunks. “ISN’T THAT WEIRD? HE’S NOTHING LIKE GATTI!” No, it’s not weird. Enough.
John getting back to what he does best after the first minute, and taking over the round easily, outlanding and outworking Juarez. Nice right over the top by Juarez, but John doesn’t budge. Lampley: “Almost makes me [respect] Juarez more that he’s never won one of those belts. He’s legit!” Uh…

How the fuck did Lederman give Juarez the third?
John continuing to control this one. This is looking like more of what John did pre-Juarez I, and more of what I expected in his American debut. I just don’t see Rocky beating him unless he can knock him out. John with a nice shot that shakes Rocky. John with another good right. He’s dominating from distance this round. John sticks in a jab as Juarez considers coming inside.
Total punches this round flash: John 22, Juarez 3. About 20 seconds left in the round.
Juarez with a right, just short. And there’s a great combo from John to end the round. I think you could score this one 10-8 without a KD.

Juarez starting this round a little busier, but not finding his range and not getting inside. John is probably going to get criticized for “running” by some people, but all he’s doing is dominating Juarez. Left hook by John just misses. This isn’t quite the fight the first one was, at least not yet, but that one was best in the late rounds when Juarez let it all hang out, too. So we’ll see.

John continuing to outfox Juarez. I mean there’s just not a lot to this fight, to be quite honest. John is potshotting Juarez into Bolivian, and Juarez is getting clearly frustrated by John’s superior skill set. Rocky has to go for it immediately, and not wait until the end like he did last fight. If he’d turned on his 11th/12th round attack in the 7th or 8th last time out, he might have stopped John.

Juarez trying to get inside and throw the power shots, but he’s not doing anything effectively. John is just making him look second-rate, period. Rocky can’t get any rhythm, any sustained attacks, and he’s just not landing a lot. He’s being clearly dominated by John and massively outlanded, about 4-to-1 the last two rounds.

John-Juarez R8
Juarez trying to jab at John when John’s on his way in, maybe just to get him to do something else, something that doesn’t make these rounds so one-sided. John again outlanding Juarez, even working with him on the inside. But then he bounces back out and just pops him over and over. Juarez’s major flaw (not throwing enough) is never going away, and he’s never going to beat a guy like John.

John swiping away, swiping away. Juarez trying to get inside, and sometimes he does, and then he stands there. I don’t
“get” Rocky Juarez anymore. Just don’t “get” him. There’s a stiff right from Juarez. John is quickly and suddenly falling into Juarez’s fight, and that’s not good for him. This is when he started getting caught the first time. Now I don’t “get” Chris John, because he’s turning this into a brawl and I don’t understand why in the holy shit he’d do that.

John-Juarez R12
John’s left eye is pretty much totally closed. You’d never guess he has so dominated the tempo and action.
Juarez complaining of a head clash. He should really worry more about landing some good shots and knocking this guy out if he possibly can. Uppercut inside by John. Jabs from John, and they tie up. I’m starting to question John’s stamina with these two Juarez fights, though not his skill. He’s faded down the stretch in both of them and started fighting way dumber each time. John throwing shots all the way down AND JUAREZ STUNS HIM WITH A LEFT HOOK! JUAREZ OPENING UP! RIGHT HAND JUAREZ! JOHN HANGING ON DESPERATELY! 20 SECONDS TO GO!
JUAREZ LETTING IT GO! LEFT HOOK THUDS! JOHN IS GONNA MAKE IT! UPPERCUT AND HE’S STILL UP! HE BARELY MAKES IT! BARELY!
Good Lord.

Mayweather-Marquez R1
Mayweather leads with a jab. Mayweather with a lunging left hook, doesn’t quite get there. Floyd using the jab, establishing distance. Marquez throws two, the second right hand lands to the body, but not hard. Marquez looks a little tight and tentative in the first minute.
Both miss left hooks after jabs to the body are short. Mayweather is CLEARLY the bigger man tonight. Four punches, three miss totally by Marquez. Jab to the body by JMM. Response from Mayweather. Floyd with a quick left hook, then turns right away. Another one. Jabs to the body by both. Marquez badly misses three shots. Lead right by Floyd. Jab lands for Floyd. Left hook by Marquez glancingly lands, crowd explodes.
Potshots on the inside by JMM. Left hook by Floyd. And another one lands. Jab to the body by Floyd. Marquez lunging, not throwing, and then throws two shots that Mayweather mostly blocks. Marquez misses a right and a left hook.
Mayweather 10-9

Mayweather-Marquez R2
Marquez comes out WHIPPING left hooks, landing one at the end. Floyd comes back with a left hook of his own, and now Floyd’s rolling his shoulder after tasting a power shot from JMM. Marquez charges him with four shots, nothing lands clean. Floyd with a quick jab. Crowd is heavily for JMM, as expected.
BIG right by Marquez! Jab to the body by Floyd. Left hook by Floyd. LEFT HOOK FLOYD, DOWN GOES MARQUEZ!
Marquez up. Floyd’s gonna pounce. Left hook again by Floyd. Jab by Floyd, and another. JMM throws a right, Floyd makes it miss. Jab to the body by Floyd. Floyd charges and connects again. Marquez throwing big shots occasionally, but not landing. Marquez is standing in there. And now he’s countered by a nasty right hand by Mayweather. Left hook to the body by Marquez.

Mayweather-Marquez R3
Floyd coming out with the jab again, Marquez trying to catch him inside, but Floyd is just out too fast. Marquez charges, misses three power shots, none of them close to landing. Marquez charges, Mayweather makes him miss and catches what doesn’t miss. Right hand Floyd lands hard. Floyd clearly thinks he has nothing to fear now. He’s picking JMM apart.
Left hook by Mayweather. Sharp left connects as JMM comes inside. Right and left to the body miss by Marquez. This is a complete physical mismatch — everything the naysayers expected. Marquez can’t land, can’t hurt him when he does, and Floyd is drilling him with shots. Marquez is starting to take a few risks. Marquez blocks a left hook, then charges but does nothing. Right hand Marquez glancingly lands.
Left hook is blocked by Floyd. And the round ends. This is all Mayweather.

Mayweather-Marquez R4
Right hand by Marquez lands after a jab misses. He could just use that jab to set up, because he NEEDS that straight right. It’s his best punch. Marquez charges and finds nothing again. Marquez is totally out of this fight. Right hand lands again for Marquez, though. Floyd is laying back waiting for the right opening. Jab lands by Floyd. Another one lands, throwing Marquez off as he tries to punch. Right hand Mayweather is just short. Good right by Marquez again! He might sneak out this round if nothing changes in the last minute.
Left hook Mayweather is just off target. Marquez is bleeding outside of the right eye. Right hand misses again. Marquez knocked back as I get a cable blip. Nah, this was another Mayweather round.

Marquez shaken a bit on a left hook, then he gives chase to Floyd, throwing and landing absolutely nothing significant. Maybe glanced a couple shots in there. Mayweather misses a left hook, then glances a right hand. Jab lands. Jab lands. Jab to the body lands. Marquez is doing nothing offensively. Nothing at all.
Long right by Marquez is short, then he lands nothing on a flurry that gets the crowd to react but means zilch. Right to the body by Marquez. Floyd peppering away with little shots, jabs and all the rest. Left hook lands for Floyd. Marquez keeps trying to unload on Floyd on the ropes, but it’s not working. Mayweather with another strong left hook. And another lands. Marquez just can’t find him at all. Left hook glances again, Marquez tries but cannot counter it.

60% to 12% so far for Floyd. This is a gross mismatch.
Right hand Floyd. Left hook lands. Marquez is landing nothing at all. Floyd is landing whatever he throws basically. Sneaky right by Mayweather shakes Marquez up. And there’s another. Mayweather’s showboating now. Left hook by Floyd. This is just fucking ugly. Mayweather is doing anything he pleases now.
Crowd rises again as Marquez throws, but again nothing lands. Floyd is just ripping him apart. Marquez stuck in the corner now, and Floyd is tearing into him. Clean straight right lands. And a left hook. This is horrid. That was a 10-8 round without a knockdown.

Mayweather-Marquez R7
Marquez isn’t landing, when he does it does no damage, and Mayweather is landing good, clean, hard punches whenever he wants, seemingly. Marquez with a slightly late shot on a break. First minute is all Mayweather again.
Tony Weeks apparently asked Marquez between rounds if he wants to keep going. Marquez said yes, obviously.
Marquez swinging as Floyd grabs onto him near the ropes. Right hand Mayweather after a jab that blinds Marquez. Marquez RIPPING into Floyd in the corner, finally lands a good left hook and landed a couple nice body shots. Right hand Marquez glances Floyd, and I mean barely lands at all. Might’ve grazed his lip.
This might be Marquez’s best round, and he’s lost it badly. Right hand Floyd. Left hook Floyd. Round ends.

Marquez is trying, but Mayweather is just not there to even be swung at most of the time. Left hook blocked, right hand barely lands and had no steam on it for Marquez. Mayweather with two jabs. Marquez cannot land that left hook. Floyd’s hand is right there every time. Marquez throwing to the body, getting nothing through. Left to the chin by Marquez, nothing on it. Mayweather moving around the ring, not giving Marquez much too work with. Marquez has totally abandoned his jab. There is nothing close about this fight.

Teddy gave the 11th to Floyd. Teddy just compared Floyd and Marquez to a dog and a cat. Said the cat will scratch but the dog will always have his way. So Floyd is the dog and Marquez is the cat.

Mayweather-Marquez R12
Mayweather continues to dominate what has been an exceptionally easy fight for him. I don’t think he’s going to be met with the reaction he wants for this performance, but you can’t take away how completely dominant he was. Marquez did nothing this entire fight, but he made it all the way through.

True. He didn’t seem “right” that night. Maybe Pac didn’t let him seem right.
