Juergen Braehmer sent to prison for 16 months
According to Per Ake Persson, light heavyweight titlist Juergen Braehmer has been sent to prison for 16 months without the possibility of parole. Not sure what effect this will have on his belt, which Braehmer was given after Zsolt Erdei vacated to move up to cruiserweight. Also noted in the article, Gennady Golovkin is unhappy with Universum, which might throw another wrench into their plans for a Sturm-Golovkin matchup.

WBO Rankings at 175:
1 Bernard Hopkins USA
2 Karo Murat (Int-Cont) GER
3 Vyacheslav Uzelkov USA
4 Nathan Cleverly GB
5 Isaac Chilembe (WBO Africa) MAL
6 Dmitry Sukhotsky (WBO Europe) RUS
7 Dean Francis GB
8 Hugo Hernan Garay ARG
9 Mariano Nicolas Plotinsky ARG
10 Chris Henry USA
11 Roy Jones, Jr. USA
12 Soulan Pownceby (Asia-Pacific) USA
13 Aleksy Kuziemski POL
14 Joe Spina USA
15 Tim Bell (Oriental) AUST
I’m really scared, but if the WBO strips Braehmer, they could make Hopkins-Jones for the vacant WBO title. If Hopkins passes, then the belt continues to be stuck in Europe. Murat is a Sauerland fighter, and I can’t imagine that a no-name like Uzelkov would turn down a title shot.

How do they justify not ranking Chad Dawson?
Do they not rank other titlists?

None of the ABCs rank the other orgs' titlists
Since Dawson is interim IBF, he’s not ranked.

The sanctioning body rankings generally are crap
Plus this is the Warren Boxing Organization. Plus there’s little to no depth at LHW at the moment. Clev is probably a legitimate top 15 LHW.

No way is Cleverly #4 at 175
The lad has bags of potential and oozes class though and I bet he would clear out most of the fighters on the list above.
Best British prospect by a million miles.
Cleverly at 4 is far, far better than Vyacheslav Uzelkov at 3, Isaac Chilembe at 5, Dean Francis at 7, Mariano Plotinsky at 9…

Not that I've ever seen Chilembe
But his record on paper is pretty decent. Clev would bowl over Francis.

Assault. It’s his third time in jail. Dude sounds like a straight-up thug.
The 31-year-old – who has already served two previous jail terms – was found guilty of punching a man several times in May 2008 and breaking a woman’s nose in September the same year.
Battery.
He beat up a man in a disco and a woman in a bar (seperate occasions) while still being on parole.

If Golovkin leaves Universtum too, does he still try to make the fight with Sturm immediately or does he wait a bit longer?
Eventually it will go to purse bid
And since they know the two better than anyone, expect Universum to win the purse bid anyway. They can refuse to fight if the money isn’t right, but I can’t see why Golovkin wouldn’t want to face Sturm. He’s the biggest money fight available AND it’s for a title. I suspect the reason he’s making noise is because Universum is probably trying to strongarm him into an extension in exchange for making the fight.

Ugh
I’m hearing Hopkins-Jones in A/C in April. Hopkins’ Facebook page says he’s fighting in Atlantic City in April. Now that the WBO title is up for grabs and Hopkins is the top contender, he’ll probably try to get the vacant belt for that fight. Of course, Universum could move Erdei back down to LHW, and then the WBO will be in a pickle.

I already know he doesn't want Zsolt
And I know he doesn’t care about the belt either. But if the WBO will sanction Hops-Jones for a title, then it gives him a bullshit excuse to still make the fight that a big chunk of the casual viewing public would accept.
