Nick Charles returns to Showtime on Jan. 29
Some good news for boxing finally. This news came down the pipe a couple of days ago, but I hadn't had the chance to get to it until now.
Showtime play-by-play commentator Nick Charles will return to his role on the January 29 edition of Shobox. Charles will also celebrate his 64th birthday the following day.
Last summer, Charles was diagnosed with urothelial carcinoma. He says he is in 80% remission now, and offered this statement:
"I never really lost hope and faith that I'd be back on 'ShoBox' working with the finest people I know professionally and personally," Charles said. "The boxing community has been overwhelmingly supportive. Their inspiration has moved me deeply. As important to me though are the fans of 'ShoBox' who have expressed to me beyond all expectations their concern and encouragement through a difficult illness."
Welcome back, Nick.
