It's a stay busy fight
It’s on that crappy Fight Night Club show (that I probably won’t watch anyway) so it doesn’t bother me much. Back in the day, guys would take stay busy fights all the time just as a means of getting a little extra cash and staying fresh. If he can manage to get some TV time out of it too, then good for him, I guess.

victor ortiz
this fight seems like a step back wonder if he still has doubts about himself what good does it do to knockout a guy who has lost 7 in a row this is not the way to become a elite fighter
They’re talking Ortiz-Nate Campbell after this. This is just getting him a fight in the meantime.

Even as such
I doubt he’ll pan out as well as he was being hyped to be. Even before then, he seemed to have trouble pulling the trigger at times, and I can only imagine that issue will get worse. Then, when he does open up, he opens up too much, leaving himself to get hit. Same problems as someone like Edison Miranda. I get the feeling that he’s just not that good when he’s not aggressive, and if he can’t stand getting hit, he’s not going to be aggressive, because the way he launches combos he’s gonna get tagged.

I don’t think a ton of Ortiz and really never have. I don’t even doubt that Campbell might beat him.

I dunno
If Ortiz struggles with Campbell, he’s got issues. I know this isn’t a popular opinion, but the lightweight division a couple years ago was just extremely weak, IMO. BAOD will kill me for saying this, but in a different era, Juan Diaz would have been a lower ranked contender, not a three belt titlist. Plus Campbell’s performance has clearly dropped quite a bit since fighting Diaz. He’s a “young” 38 since he picked up boxing so late, but he’s still a 38 year old lightweight.
