What is the Best Ring Entrance Music?

From the generic gangster rap to the equally generic heavy rock we don't hear a great deal of original or particularly good ring walk music. The Germans have a thing about the Scorpions, some boxers have raps written about them and even performed live, Ricky Hatton has his kind of funny the first time Ricky Fatton song, sometimes someone frankly undeserving comes out to Roy Jones' Can't Be Touched and 9/10 it's nothing great.

However sometimes the boxer picks something you really like, or is funny or just a nice change. What do you think are the best examples of this?

Or what would you walk out to? I would come out to Pendulum's Blood Sugar in it's entirety and walk slowly whilst raving.

I generally hate heavy metal, but I’ve always thought Metallica’s "For Whom the Bell Tolls," with its pun on the idea of a bell ringing, of “having your bell rung,” and the ominous John Donne reference, would make a great ring entrance song. Never heard anyone use it.

The kind of music I generally listen to at home—jazz, country blues, and old school Motown and funk—generally doesn’t fit well with the idea of a boxing match.

Could “Hell’s Bells” also work? I’ve always enjoyed Trevor Hoffman’s use of that song. Very different context, but I think it would still work in boxing.

But also,

let’s not discount the effect of coming out to hilariously shitty pop. I’d prolly go with Party in the USA.

I thought Chad Dawson coming out to Lupe Fiasco’s “Superstar” was clever for the first Glenn Johnson fight because the chorus probably was a perfect expression of his mindset going into his first big fight: “If you are what you say you are, a superstar, then have no fear, the camera’s here.”

That is rather clever

In The Air Tonight: little bit cheesy, but if you can cut the song down so the drum beat starts when you get halfway down – that’d be pretty cool. I think Devon Alexander came out to that against Junior Witter.

As cheesy and cliche as it is

Eye of the Tiger is also badass. I think I’d flip shit if someone came out to the Mortal Kombat theme song as well.

Fight!!

Some people are acting like Pacquiao should be expected to have just gone, "Yeah sure, let’s do something I’ve never done before because your dad made some dumbass baseless comment."

hatton -

the Blue Moon song is excellent, even though its really from Manchester City’s fans. but its a terrific version they play – and for the Castillo fight 2 years ago, they started off with a mix of Winston Churchill’s famous “we shall fight them on the beaches” speech, which preceeded the Blue Moon, then Ricky appeared, just an electric ring entrance. being english of course maybe a bit biased . . . . ha!

Froch walks out to ‘we will rock you’/queen which although unusual gets everyone pumping.

Holmes would come down th runway with"This Is It" playing. I kind of liked that. Gave things a sense of urgency.

it was pretty tight given that I thought he had no chance of winning the fight…

when Mayweather came out to born in the usa when he fought hatton was classic. The brits were everywhere that night. It is the same night they booed our National Athem. Great timing, for Mayweather to pick that song.

Something belligerent yet serene

Tool’s ‘Sober’ , Karma to Burn’s ‘Mt Penetrator’ , Kuyss’ ‘Demon Cleaner’, or Electric Wizard’s ‘Priestess of Mars’.

Back in the 80’s I used to listen to the Cult’s ‘Phoenix’ or some straight edge punk, Agnostic Front did the trick.
