Brian Magee stopped favored Dane Mads Larsen in the seventh round on Saturday in Aarhus, Denmark, winning the vacant European super middleweight title. Magee (33-3-1, 23 KO) hurt Larsen in the fourth with a body shot, and then accelerated the pace. In the seventh, he finished Larsen (51-3, 38 KO). Larsen once looked like a real contender, but was out of boxing from 2003 until 2007, and since returning has fought plenty of mismatches and eight-round bouts. This might well finish any chance that Larsen, 36, will ever get that world title shot he's been half-heartedly aiming for for years now.
