UFC promoter Dana White speaks with James Toney. This is classic, really. He knows all the kicks! Front kick, back kick, side kick, check kick. Did you see what he did to Evander Holyfield (editor's note: in 2003)?

How can Dana White slam other organisations for staging freak shows
and then seriously consider bringing in James Toney? Depending on who he fights, even his ‘punchers chance’ isn’t really there as he’d so easily get dumped on his back it would be untrue.. unless of course he fights Kimbo Slice
I know a lot of people will point to Mercer-Sylvia but how many times have you seen Big Tim shoot on someone?
Tim was also woefully out of shape.

True
Another couple of things that aren’t normally mentioned is how much a boxer’s, in this case Toney, power would diminish with a) being continuously worried about defending the takedown and b) not wearing shoes.. both would significantly impact on Toney’s ability to throw with full power. Also unless he’s fighting a total tool then NOONE is going to stand and trade with him anyway (unless there’s some Petruzelli-Kimbo shenanigans).. it would be a truly awful spectacle, much like Kimbo-Alexander was when everyman and his dog knew Kimbo just wanted to stand there and bang.
Plus Toney doesn't have power to begin with
If there’s a boxer who, stylistically, would have NO CHANCE in MMA, it’s James Toney. Seriously, I have no idea what he’s thinking.

Kimbo is the only fight that makes sense.

That seems to be the case
It’d be interesting to see how it’d be marketed.. it surely couldn’t headline a numbered event and seems perfect for a Fight Night but there’s no chance in hell Toney would be accepting the sort of money that’d bring, I’d imagine. I was listening to something the other day and the presenters were discussing the chance of RJJ making the switch now his career has come to an end, I’d be much more interested in that but still, mildly so.
There in lies the trap.
Toney says he wants the best, but he’s gunning for Kimbo. Sure it’ll make cash, but it’s an easy fight for Toney to snatch and run. Once he beats Kimbo, he’l harp on Boxing beating MMA some more.
Watch. Closest top guys Dana will offer him will be CroCop, Gonzaga, Nelson, Jardine, Thiago, Jones and Rogerio.
Closest cool match up would be Gonzaga and Rogerio.
Toney will beg and plead for Kimbo any chance he gets while acting like nobody knows the top two.

I sort of think that people are overestimating JTs power
The guy is a blown up middleweight. I think he’d prolly be able to “Mercer” someone, but I’m not 100 percent sure, even with the tiny gloves. Then again, his daddy was a death fighter, so maybe he’ll shock us all.
That is why I'm not sure what to think...
I mean, my daddy wasn’t a death fighter…so I can’t tell how great of a mixer martial artist he may be

I think he taught him the Dim Mak, so those open-fingered mma gloves will let people finally see what he can do.
