Fernando Montiel breaks his leg in motorcycle accident
BoxingScene.com reports that bantamweight titlist Fernando Montiel suffered a fractured leg in a motorcycle accident this weekend, which will put a halt to his scheduled November 20 fight and further clouds the idea that he'll fight Nonito Donaire in February.
Montiel (43-2-2, 33 KO) scored the biggest win of his career in April when he knocked out Hozumi Hasegawa in Tokyo, and later defended his two belts against Rafael Concepcion (KO-3) in July. There was talk of him fighting Donaire before the end of the year, then talk of him fighting Eric Morel. Now neither will happen. Morel is his WBO mandatory.
It's certainly not a satisfying early end to what has been a terrific professional year for Montiel.

At least it's not the femur.
And it’s just a fracture. Depending on where and how bad, he could be back training in a few months. A full break would have him on the shelf for several months, and a femur break probably would’ve ended his career.

Why do people ride bikes?
Diego Corrales, Frank Mir from MMA, Ben Roethlisberger. Why do people do this?
Why Do People Box?
Scott Beethaeven, Duk Koo Kim, Leavander Johnson, et al. They do it because they love challenge, danger, risk-taking, speed, power, and excitement. And that’s why we love them.

At least boxing is an endeavor where you challenge yourself against another after training and years of practice.
But why ride bikes when there are much more reliable and safer forms of transportation around? Why risk your life getting from Point A to B? Boxing is an endeavor, a challenge.
Riding a bike is something any circus monkey or bear can do.
Because It's Huge,
Monster fun for them, as, for some, are sky diving, winter hiking and skiing, diving, anything requiring speed and/or daring. Some people enjoy risk—you can challenge yourself against another playing tennis, chess, etc. It takes a risk-taker of some daring to be a boxer, and people with that nature aren’t able to be any other way or limit to just boxing—sometimes people die of their mistakes, but they’ve still got a right to make them.

Nothing serious. He'll be back ASAP.
