This is what Manny Pacquiao did to Antonio Margarito last night at Cowboys Stadium. Keep in mind that Pacquiao was giving up about five inches of height, six inches of reach, and on the HBO scales, nearly 20 pounds. What Pacquiao did to the much bigger man last night was astounding, and also note that Margarito was game and did land some good shots. Manny Pacquiao is a force of nature. was as brilliant as ever. He’s up there with the best ever and i am definitely still picking him to beat Mayweather, not that it will ever likely happen.
Manny is just as great a man as he is a boxer.
Outstanding performance.

Do we really believe Margarito has power without the loaded gloves? I’ve not seen any evidence of that, myself. His seemingly strong (from the look of the throw) but effectively weak punches (from the effect and lack of marks) against Pacquiao would seem to support the presumption that he never had much power to begin with, except when cheating.

Pacquiao definitely felt some of those body shots last night.

I’m sure, but if Margarito were the puncher he was cracked up to be without the plaster, wouldn’t we be saying more than “definitely felt,” especially against such a naturally smaller man?

That depends on who cracked him up to be a huge puncher, I guess, and honestly I just don’t remember him being cracked up to be a “huge puncher,” ever. A good puncher, sure. When he was at his best, I never thought he was a huge puncher, just a top pressure fighter who never relented and used volume to break guys down. He wasn’t Tommy Hearns or anything, and I don’t recall that ever being the prevailing thought.

This is what he actually said:
“In the sixth round , he got me with a good shot. A body shot. It was rel painful. i’m lucky to have survived that round”.
Sounds hard to me.
