Hernandez has been knocked out 9 times. And he used “Live Your Life” for entrance music.

So this is a lot like US boxing.

Whatever Hernandez is doing, I hesitate to call that a jab.

why does McCracken’s glove tape look like he’s fought 12 bloody rounds already?

Cameron actually looks pretty fit as a cruiserweight, not like someone put him in the dryer or anything. Cameron with an overhand right. First minute is mostly both guys jabbing. Second minute is some pressing by McCracken but not much effective offense from either. Cameron starting to establish a jab at the end of the minute. Third minute is stuff.

The bell to start rounds makes me want to bemoan how short my lunch period is.

Cameron’s jab is really working when he uses it. Right to the body by Cameron. McCracken gets close to him but then does nothing. Cameron is obviously the more skilled fighter. Just sharper, looks stronger, looks more disciplined.

McCracken getting a little more aggressive this round. Right hand by McCracken. Body shot. Cameron starting to get tagged. And there’s an uppercut from McCracken. Body shot by Cameron. Another right hand from McCracken. His pressure is starting to take the fight over a little.

Cameron making a charge to open the round, McCracken looking to keep doing what he did last round. Cameron with a good left to the body, and his activity is neutralizing McCracken this round. Another left to the body, and he shoots his uppercut again. Cameron rattled a little with a shot to the top of the head. Good left hook to the body by Cameron in a three-punch combo. Right hand by Cameron. McCracken getting more active in the final moments of the round, but then he lands some nice shots before the bell.

Good fight, really.

Nice right by Cameron. Cameron looks like he might have some stamina issues the more this fight goes along, just judging by his body language. He’s not showing it with a lack of effort. McCracken pressing him again. Body shots, right hand lands clean upstairs for McCracken. Another good right from McCracken. Cameron with an uppercut. Flurry from McCracken. I think he takes this one.

Cameron has a cut over the eye. And his mouth is hanging open now. He’s coming out fairly hard this round. Cameron slips a couple shots after a McCracken body blow. Cameron just is not using his jab anymore. “It’s pissin’ down now,” says Sam Soliman of the cut.

McCracken throwing big rights! Cameron backs down and then ties up. Time being called after Cameron’s mouthpiece falls out. Cameron got a pretty good break for that, it seemed. Cameron tying up more with McCracken continuing to throw with both hands. Soliman has a snorty sort of laugh that’s going right into his microphone. Really he’s a pretty solid commentator. McCracken throwing bombs, landing a few. Cameron with a body shot.

Cameron seems to have 1:30 of real fight in him every round at this point, and he’s really having a very hard time getting McCracken to back down at all. Uppercut from Cameron doesn’t land clean. Cameron using his left hand a bit better this round. But there’s a chopping right from McCracken. Tough round to call.

Right hand by Cameron. Finally McCracken seems to be truly slowing down and taking the backseat. Cameron leading the action more. 1-2 by McCracken! Good stuff. Another right hand. Right to the body by McCracken. Jab by Cameron. McCracken with a little flurry, nothing on that. Good combo by Cameron ending with a hard left hook to the body. Another one gets in.

Cameron throwing hard, but then backed down when McCracken finds him open for rights again. Body work by McCracken, very nice. Cameron with an uppercut inside. Lefts to the body by Cameron, but then a hard straight right by McCracken! This is picking up again. Both guys tiring and starting to war now. McCracken backing him down to the ropes. Uppercut inside again by Cameron. This is a hell of a good round. Uppercut once again by Cameron. And another one. Still a winnable round with a minute left. McCracken with another hard right in close, one of three landed flush. Another right by McCracken, and he steals the round.

Quick break so that Cameron can have vaseline wiped off his face. Great body work by Cameron. Right hand to the head by McCracken. Left hook by Cameron inside. Back to the body now. Great start to this round for Cameron. Body shot again by Cameron. And another one, this time a right hand. Right hand to the dome by Cameron, and another one. Now he’s got McCracken worried about the body work. McCracken throwing, not landing. GREAT left hook to the body by Cameron. Jab landing. Round ends, but Cameron’s cut pretty bad over the right eye.

Right hand by McCracken. He’s coming out stalking. McCracken with a left to the body. Right by McCracken, and the heads come together again.

Now they’re going to look at the cut after a couple of moments. Cut ruled to be OK, and we’ll fight on.

Cameron coming hard, but walking into some shots from McCracken. McCracken REALLY turning it up. Big rights! McCracken won’t let him hold, and now Cameron comes alive! Uppercut by Cameron. McCracken misses with a right over the top. Both look exhausted near the end of the round. Cameron backs him to the ropes, but McCracken lands shots. And he punctuates his round with another good right.

Soliman seemed to feel that round went to Cameron, but I liked what Cameron did early and late.

Well, this is the round to win the fight on my card.

Cameron coming out pretty quick again this round. McCracken walks into shots. He’s going to have to wake up. Cameron backs him down, really letting his hands go in the first 40 seconds. McCracken just not active this round, almost giving it away. Cameron with body shots. This is definitely his round. McCracken has nothing left. Uppercut by Cameron. 45 seconds to go. Right hand by McCracken! That might have been the last one left. McCracken with another right, not as much on that one.

Wilson’s from Medford, Oregon, and fighting out of the U.S. for the first time. He’s fought three times in Tunica, MS and once in Memphis.

BJ once sent us an email bragging about how he can get all the babes. There’s some evidence of his prowess in that regard. Good for him. He still did a shitty job calling that Klitschko-Chagaev fight.

Nobody who comes out to this song knows what it’s about. Not Mike Wilson, not Mayweather, not Reagan.

I’m truly stunned by the lack of turnout here for this momentous event. Actually, I thought we might have five people, like the usual Japanese card crowd.

Sam suggests Donohue cut his hair. Sam, all due respect, he’s 7-9-1. His hair isn’t the problem.

Wow Donohue hit the mat knees-first as loud as I’ve ever heard anyone hit the mat.

He was about to be finished, but he’s getting right up and standing in.

Donohue down again, he doesn’t look good. And it’s waved off. He got cracked. Tough dude.

Even Flores’ warmups are cautious.

“The American Showman BJ Flores,” they say. I wonder if they’ve watched tapes of him or if they tried and fell asleep. Jab to the body by Flores. Green gets close and Flores immediately clinches. Jab by Green. Green trying to cut off the ring. Green jabbing, Flores standing around outside. They’re talking about Flores’ last fight and saying “many felt Flores was the standout on the night.” He beat a blown up middleweight. Lord.

Green shooting his right, ducking Flores’ right. Flores ties up again. Green has controlled most of the round with his jab, which shouldn’t be the case, but it is. Green with a lead left hook, wide and around Green’s glove. Right hand by Green catches Flores coming in. Right to the body by Green.

Flores backs him to the ropes, and Green stays there, almost inviting Flores to come to him, and BJ doesn’t oblige. Danny’s just staying there and inviting him in. Flores won’t do anything. Green feinting. Right hand by Flores. Right hand by Green. They’re at center ring and looking for openings. Another wide right by Flores, mostly blocked. Green jab to the body and starting to come forward again. Double jab by Flores. Green short on a right. Jab by Flores. Much better round for BJ, this is his game. Jab by Green, right by Flores. Left hook by Green, jab from Flores. Green swinging rights at the end of the round, and Flores meets him.

Not a bad scrap so far. Can’t believe I’m saying that about a BJ flores fight.

Flores pumping the jab, then shoots a 1-2. A bit short. Green standing on the ropes again. Left off the ropes by Green. He clearly has no fear of being on the ropes against BJ Flores. He’s walking himself there. Right hand by Green over the left hand of Flores. Left jab by Flores. They’re trying to hype up Green’s THREE defenses as the most defenses of the IBO cruiserweight title ever, which says more about how worthless that belt is than anything, but hey.

Green pretty settled in this round. He’s taking away a lot of Flores’ reach advantage. 1-2 by Flores is blocked. Flores misses a loaded up right hand.

Green can’t find openings this round, but then there’s a left hook that grazes Flores and gets a rise out of the crowd. Green with a jab to the body. Hook from Flores. Great body shots by Flores, a left and a right. Now Flores starting to pick it up. He takes the round.

Green backs himself to the ropes yet again and stands there, then charges off with some fouling. Referee warns him too. Boos from the crowd. Green short on his charges. Flores eats some jabs. BJ starting to lay off more than he should on the road. Or ever, really. Now he opens up, but misses on wild swings. A minute left in a fairly quiet round. Right hand by Danny, not big, and it came after a sharp jab from Flores. Green coming in, lands a right. Two jabs by Green. Flores bouncing and waiting too much. Green misses a left hook, Flores misses two shots, and Flores lands a right that stings Green.

Flores walks into a left hook, and he’s being warned for shoving Green away now. Good start to the round by Green. He might not have the stamina to go the distance, and might feel he needs to start pressing. Flores still waiting too long, too often, and his power shots are telegraphed at this point. Green sees most of them coming easily, and he’s hardly known as a top defensive boxer. BJ’s had his moments, but he’s falling into his own traps too much. Neither land rights, but both throw them. Good right to the body by Flores, Green throws a hard left hook that just misses. Flores with a left.

Every time Flores throws that wide, whiffing left hook off the back foot, I want to scream at him “Hey! Use your length, dummy!”

Green lands quickly again. He might even be using a tactic: land a good early shot, make Flores think about opening up offensively. BJ Flores does not have any real physical flaws. He’s tall, very long, has decent power, is a solid boxer. His flaws are mechanical mental stuff, and they’re showing up here, although he’s fighting about as well as I’ve ever seen. It’s just that Danny Green is the best fighter he’s ever faced.

Green moving around the ring. Neither landing much significant in the first two minutes of the round, but Green probably getting the better of it. Finally, the Aussie commentators are noticing exactly what BJ Flores is: “Looking confident. Not really throwing a great deal, is he?” That’s the story of his career.

Flores with a right hand, but Green pops him back with a better left hand. Green going at him again, Flores … just. SIgh. Green isn’t even doing anything all that great.

If this keeps up I can’t wait for Flores to complain about the decision, say nobody will fight him, and disappear for a year again.

Lead left hook by Danny Green. Now he again goes to the ropes, dares Flores to come to him, Flores doesn’t of course, and Green lands a pot shot coming out. Flores still flicking a for-show jab. It’s the eighth round, biggest fight of his career, in a place he’s not going to get the benefit on the cards, and he’s just not doing as much as he absolutely has to. If he’s trying to counter, like if that’s his plan, then he’s proving he doesn’t have the hand speed to do it. Flores gets a nice shot in, but Green comes back. Big shots at the end of the round! Nice ending.

Flores gets distracted by a light in the stadium for a half a second. STIFF jab by Green. Very nice. Flores misses a right, Green hits him with a left. Flores shoves him into the ropes, Green bounces off, then walks over to the other side. Again, daring Flores to come to him. Flores bouncing instead. At this point, BJ knows what the trap is, so I can’t blame him, really. Flores having moments here and there, and there was a nice right. Flores warned for a shot to the back of the head, and they tap gloves. It was accidental. Flores with a nice left hook, then just misses a right. Right hand by Flores. Left hook by Flores.

I’d like to say Flores was looking “loose” out there that round, but he mainly just looked sloppy.

Jab by Flores. Now I think it might be Green laying off the gas a bit too much. Still, Flores can’t find his range. Green is boxing far better than I expected him to box at 37, and given his career-long style. Green making Flores miss. BJ’s inability to exploit his big reach has been almost astounding. He’s not a bad boxer. He really does know what he’s doing. He just doesn’t seem to execute it that well. Still, I think he’s taking this round, too. Green kind of took this one off.

Danny goes to the body, then the head, but not landing. Green back to the body, strays a hair low. Green jabbing again. The fact that he’s been the better jabber in this fight is a big surprise. Green pressing again, and even when he isn’t landing much, that’s a big feather for him, because Flores never much ups his workrate no matter what’s going on. Flores misses a right. Thudding right by Green, but he even came in too far that time. Didn’t get all of it.

Green throwing big shots to start the round. Now Flores flicks his jab and bounces on the outside. Amazing. Green makes a rush at him and lands a left hook. Green misses a right, but lands a left. Flores is putting no more effort into this round than he did the second round. Right hand by Green backs Flores down again. Then Green goes RIGHT BACK to the ropes and waits for him. Flores has 40 seconds to do something. The PA man probably shouldn’t yell with 30 seconds left in the fight. Green with a left hook. Green with a jab. Flores runs at him and then stands there like he wants to have a posedown.
